This comment from Tony, either misquoted or sour comment ?
As we are essentially replacing Jamie Kah, we needed someone who is different to her and someone who is better than her, Vorster is the package deal,” McEvoy said.
ETA: Title needs to reflect content in order for the search to work for most of us who won't remember 'slapped down' as a reference to McEvoy or Vorster.

Could be sourness but it makes sense to want somebody better.
So who is this Vorster ?

Appears contrary to earlier comments from both persons Raymondo.
The alleged statement from McEvoy reflects extremely poorly on him imo, if simply because there was absolutely no need for it. Maybe the immediate success of the Clarken/Kay combination played a part.

Adam McGrath https://www.twitter.com/AdamMcGrath89" rel="nofollow - @AdamMcGrath89 1:31pm South Australian jockey ranks will be boosted with the news that Singapore-based, South African-born Barend Vorster will be moving to Australia to ride for leading trainer Tony McEvoy. McEvoy put out an expression of interest in early November last year, after South Australia’s leading jockey Jamie Kah decided to freelance, rather than be committed to the McEvoy stable. While receiving interest from some well-established jockeys based in Victoria, Vorster was the clear top selection for McEvoy. "At 41 year-of-age, he brings a wealth of experience having ridden all over the world and he’s an easy sell to all of my owners," McEvoy said. His experience and knowledge will be greatly appreciated in the South Australian jockey ranks, having ridden in over 6000 races, winning four Group 1’s, four Group 2’s and fifteen Group 3 races. "As we are essentially replacing Jamie Kah, we needed someone who is different to her and someone who is better than her, Vorster is the package deal,” McEvoy said. “He’s ridden all over the world, he can get down to 50kg, he’s strong with both hands, he’s just at an elite level." Vorster will move to South Australia in the next few weeks and will be based in the Barossa full-time, alongside of McEvoy’s apprentice Chris Caserta. Surprisingly with interest from jockeys based in Victoria and internationally, McEvoy received no requests from any South Australian-based jockeys for the position.

Bookies framing a market as we speak....how long will he last? Tony couldn't make his Sydney stable work, who in their right mind would move to South Oz? it's on the verge of collapse, Ms Kah would cut the mustard anywhere, anywhere. I hope she gets an offer from a leading VIC/NSW stable, or up in QLD in the warm......but for Tony to say that, if he was not misquoted, doesn't say much for his character then does it? Ms Kah improved Tony's profile, not tother way.

The guy’s decisions are a bit confusing - leave NSW to concentrate on SA, complain he can’t get horses into MM although any race win anywhere would have got them in there, get rid of a jockey whom he was combining with quite successfully. Why?

Would anybody know how many horses he has got from MM to train in the last 4 years or so. Must be a lot of owners scratching their heads to see this massive stable sitting at home on this Saturday. Yet I am sure he will be buying up like crazy again this week.

The big trainers don’t train all the horses, then run franchises. Owners will get sick of paying for champagne and getting Prosecco

Perfect start for Ballarat digs, McEvoys eye Flemington double
Tony and Calvin McEvoy will be out of https://www.racenet.com.au/tracks/vic/flemington" rel="nofollow - Flemington by the end of January, as the dual-state operation moves into its new Ballarat complex. The
purpose-built compound, able to house 100 horses, includes 66 boxes, 30
yards and an 80m shed, which has two 20-horse walkers, 24 tie-ups, two
treadmills inside and fixed wash bays. A big part of the passion
project, several years in the making, was to create a space which
flows, allowing the stable to train and exercise a large amount of
horses in a timely manner. When youve got 100 horses, which is
what were going to get to, in time, and were going to take our time
getting there, you need a yard that flows, Calvin said. Its designed for that and seems to be working so far, its really excited. Im sitting in the office right now looking over the complex and its all right there. The
new McEvoy Mitchell stable opened with 13 horses this week, with a plan
to empty Flemington before downsizing the South Australian Angaston
operations. The horses have settled in fantastic, look, its a
wonderful facility we have been able to design with the help of Ballarat
Turf Club, its just a beautiful place, Calvin said. Taking to
the new tracks well, and Im really enjoying it too, Im loving what Im
seeing, its a really vibrant and thriving place to train horses,
Ballarat. Ballarat will replace Angaston as the main base, with
the SA property to become more of a nursery for the young and
inexperienced stock. A lot more time will be spent on our younger
horses over there, getting them ready, getting them educated on that
beautiful property thats always worked with young horses, Calvin said. Leaving
Flemington was not a decision taken lightly, but the opportunity to
build and blend the best of city and country training practices weighed
heavily in Ballarats favour. Star Turn colt Pegasi got the Ballarat yard to a perfect start, with an all-the-way win at Geelong on Friday. Calvin hopes Flemington runners Over Exposure and Coolth will follow suit on Saturday. Weve
really kept him (Coolth) stimulated by bringing him down here
(Ballarat) a couple times, saddling him up and having a gallop up the
hill track, McEvoy said. He hasnt moved here completely, I just
wanted to keep him at Flemington because I wanted him to go to the
beach, but hes done a really good job, thrived and trained on. He looks fit and ready to go with the blinkers going on. Coolth
must overcome the fancied Long Arm in Race 8 at Flemington, but Over
Exposure looks set to start a strongly fancied favourite after a
luckless third last start at Headquarters. https://www.racenet.com.au/jockey/damian-lane" rel="nofollow - Damian Lane ,
who Id say is a pretty composed, level-headed jockey and doesnt get
too excited too often, got off him and said look, he should have won by
two or three lengths, Calvin said. He got a bit further back than we thought and this was Damians words, zigged when shouldve zagged. It was an eye-catching run, now up to the mile, hes fit and ready to go, hell be very hard to beat.
