Saw some of the game at the SCG the other day - could have been a game anywhere on the subcontinent - never heard a crowd cheer louder for Virat, anywhere!
It reminded me of the ALP front bench, cheering for Malcolm when he ratified the Paris Agreement!
Hope the food vendors, got the message - forget the pies, stock up on the dodgy Vindaloos!

The only positive I get from him is that all the players look incredibly fit.

Form guide(last five completed matches) Australia LDLLL India WWLLW In the spotlightOut of Australia's big three, Pat Cummins emerged as the most consistent of the quicks earlier this year - testament to his years of hard work to overcome the injuries that hampered the early parts of his career. He took a largely forgotten career-best nine-wicket match haul in Johannesburg when the focus was on anything but the cricket, and did not feature in the UAE. As with his fellow pacemen, he has been very carefully handled heading into this Test series, so hopefully he is ready to push up the speed gun. Do not ignore his improving lower-order batting, either. How about someone other than http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/player/253802.html" rel="nofollow - Virat Kohli ? India's pace attack is the best they have pulled together, but they either don't have great numbers or haven't played much in Australia. Jasprit Bumrah falls into the latter category but shapes as a key part of India's armoury. He made an instant difference to the attack when he came in during the England series, causing particular problems to the left handers, of which Australia have a few. However, many a talented fast bowler has come to Australia and taken too long to adjust to the conditions, especially the lengths required. Team newsMitchell Marsh has been dropped in favour of frontline batsman Peter Handscomb, while http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/25346920/how-once-mediocre-marcus-harris-made-brotherhood" rel="nofollow - Marcus Harris is confirmed for a debut opening the batting. That will be alongside Aaron Finch, with Usman Khawaja taking the No. 3 spot Australia 1 Aaron Finch, 2 Marcus Harris, 3 Usman Khawaja, 4 Shaun Marsh, 5 Peter Handscomb, 6 Travis Head, 7 Tim Paine (capt & wk), 8 Mitchell Starc, 9 Pat Cummins, 10 Nathan Lyon, 11 Josh Hazlewood India have ditched their five-bowler policy and named only four frontline bowlers in their XII - the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah to be complemented by R Ashwin's off-spin. The only point that is uncertain is who will bat at No.6, with both Rohit Sharma and Hanuma Vihari named in the XII. India 1 KL Rahul, 2 M Vijay, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Virat Kohli (capt), 5 Ajinkya Rahane, 6 Rohit Sharma/Hanuma Vihari, 7 Rishabh Pant (wk), 8 R Ashwin, 9 Mohammed Shami, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Jasprit Bumrah Pitch and conditionsAdelaide's previous three Tests have been day-nighters, but India didn't fancy one of those on this tour so it's the ground's first traditional Test match since 2014 when these two sides last met. The surface looked dry the day before the match and there is hot weather predicted for the first day, then warm, sunny conditions throughout so spin could be a factor. Stats and TriviaKohli http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/253802.html?class=1;ground=131;template=results;type=allround" rel="nofollow - averages 98.50 at Adelaide Oval with three centuries Australia will have just one player - Nathan Lyon - who appeared in the 2014-15 Test following the omission of Mitchell Marsh. India could have seven. India have won just five of their 44 Tests in Australia - they won in Adelaide http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8525/scorecard/64060/australia-vs-india-2nd-test-india-tour-of-australia-2003-04" rel="nofollow - in 2003-04 on the back of Rahul Dravid's tour de force and Ajit Agarkar's six wickets. QuotesTim Paine: "The (Adelaide Oval) wicket over the last few years here has given enough throughout the game. We've got a lot of confidence in Nathan Lyon bowling the overs we need and all three of our quicks are going in very fresh." Virat Kohli: "We're not taking anything for granted. We just want to focus on our skills and what we need to do. We're looking to correct things that haven't gone right in the past."

First test starts today.
Mitch Marsh drooped for Peter Handscombe to strengthen the batting, good move for mine as Mitch Marsh isn't a consistent enough batsman for this level for mine.
India are tossing up between Sharma and Vihari at 6, otherwise the 11 is set, unfortunately the highly regarded 19yo Prithvi Shaw was injured in the training run with the CA eleven.
India are seen as favourites by some, false favs for mine as with their small amount of preparation however despite our batting being brittle I doubt the Indians (Kohli the exception) will be able to get enough runs to put consistent scoreboard pressure on our batsmen.
Australia to win the series 2-1.

Pujara is a rare breed in todays white ball dominated game, he and Khawaja are the only members of either top 7 that I would back to make this type of hundred, India are below par but the test would be gone completely without him.

I think they need to rethink the way DRS works, yes I know by the law Finch wasn't out but there is no way he reviewed that because he thought it was a no ball.
|
Posted By: VOYAGER
Date Posted: 09 Dec 2018 at 5:14pm
If Finch did not know he had hit the ball, or he did not feel it up his arm or the impact on the glove, why did he not look for the referral.
Not only is he not a test level opener, he is second guessing his decisions about his wicket!

Florida Rapper T-Pain Unsure Why He Is Copping So Much Heat From Indian Twitter Accounts https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.betootaadvocate.com%2Fworld-news%2Fflorida-rapper-t-pain-unsure-why-he-is-copping-so-much-heat-from-indian-twitter-accounts%2F" rel="nofollow - n news out of the United States of America this morning, Florida based rapper T-Pain has asked someone to explain why he is copping so much heat on social media over the last couple of days. The American rapper, singer and producer who is responsible for smash hit songs such as Buy You A Drank and Bartender, told our reporters this morning that he was quite confused as to why a lot of Indian Twitter accounts were abusing him. āIāve been inundated with tweets calling me a cheat, a flat track bully and telling me King Kohli would destroy me in next two matches,ā T-Pain said to us this morning about what seems to be a case of mistaken identity. āI mean, Iām glad that the Konvict Music Label is so popular in the subcontinent, but they keep spelling it with a āCā and calling us cheats.ā āMan we hustled hard, but Akon and I arenāt cheats.ā āWho is King Kohli? And what country does he rule?ā After some questioning, the music veteran informed us that he weirdly didnāt have any knowledge of the game of cricket and wasnāt sure who Australian Captian Tim Paine or Indian Captain Virat Kohli were. āWhat man? The games go for 5 days? Thatās some whack gelati,ā said T-Pain. āSo Iāve got another month of copping heat on Twitter?ā Our reporters informed him that that was most likely the case. https://www.betootaadvocate.com/world-news/florida-rapper-t-pain-unsure-why-he-is-copping-so-much-heat-from-indian-twitter-accounts/?goal=0_ac916ebeb2-bba781c535-215844141&mc_cid=bba781c535&mc_eid=1b8d058525 ------------- In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... Today some have praised Mitch Marsh for bowling straight and economically.
In point of fact all he's been doing is getting batters "in", setting them up for a good score without any hint of penetration.

Agree! ... sadly. ... I've said it all along, It's a weak Australian team that boasts TWO Marsh brothers ... will be a miracle if they compete over 5 days, certainly can't win.

Refresh my memory - has there ever been a good MCG Boxing Day pitch?

I fee like India could regret not scoring a bit quicker yesterday depending on how the first session goes today, if the Aussie quicks can get 2 or 3 wickets this morning with the newish ball then the whole complexion of the match will change, feel 3/290 would look a whole lot better than the current score.

India2/277 at lunch, I wonder if they intend to bat 5 the days out?
I suspect India are playing for both time and volume of runs with the intention of crushing the Aussies with scoreboard pressure.

Smith and Bancroft should be banned for life. Warners ban should be lifted immediately
Smith is a self absorbed disgrace and the past week of limelighting himself as "vulnerable" has truly started showing how he never was a leader in the first place. The dude is a cheating little mummys boy.
Warner on the other hand, who had several years of soul searching with the death of his good mate Phil Hughes, deserves not only a 2nd chance, but a MASSIVE apology from Cricket Australia.
Never return to the pitch again Smith. You are a joke.
