What a coincidence that the day after Shaun Johnson wants out of the Warriors , suddenly Gareth Widdup, wants out of his 3 year contract , crystal ball says there has been a deal done already .Johnson in the red V for the next 3years .

Sharks have more money.

Matt Molan to fullback for Valentine Holmes.

Johnson into halves.

Johnson does not want out at the Warriors, the club wants to move him to free up money for his replacement.

I am hearing that the new Zealand half back, Kodi Nikorima, has a clause, saying he can leave the Broncos, with a change in coach, and he is looking to exercise the clause.

If Widdup goes the Dragons are no chance next season!

Widdop is a gun, but this is his last chance to cash in, so his manager will do what he has to do!Ouch

I recently saw on Fox, a feature, which just showed ALL of Billy Slater's career tries.

Wow - it must be said, he WAS pretty good Slater, much as I hate The Melbourne Fraud from top to bottom!

It was interesting in that I had almost forgotten that Widdop was ex-Fraud ... anyway, whilst he was there, in that package, I reckon he was involved in almost 3 out of every 4 tries that Slater scored.

Agreed V, Dragons will struggle without him.

Widdop is a warrior.

Must have realized how much he missed the motherland during the recent test series.

What goes on in the Shire ?

They own their own ground ?

They own a heck of a property portfolio apparently ?

They have no cash ?

Make em merge with St Illawarra.

Thank god they sacked Bennett.   Finally.    Sorry old sod.   Cant imagine what that young sheila from Newcastle saw in him.   He is just a horrible old bloke.  Walked out on the Knights.  Left his wife of years,,,,for a much younger woman .  And his kids with problems.
Good luck to the team who has got him.    Bet they arnt happy .

The only thing that saves Bennett at Souths are the Burgess boys.

If they can swing the other lads, then no problems, but if Inglis and Reynolds say to the group, forget what the old man says, do it this way, that will send them packing.

What has been said here is correct, Bennett has passed his use by date.

Expecting Jack Bird to be allowed to fly now, Pengai Jr will follow Bennett and with Darius on the down hill slide, and Gillett coming back from a serious injury, the Broncos look bottom eight material to me next season.

Not sure why you would pay a million for Seibold either. I mean at least Maguire won a premiership for the Bunnies.

Good on Bennett for standing his ground. The total fault lies at the feet of the Broncos management and Seibold

Souths will be fine next season. Bennett is far from past it, he I’ll deliver number 22 to te bunnies

Is Bennett getting his payout or have they found a way to sack him without paying him out for 2019?

That's what all this BS was about, wasn't it- Bennett wanting to be double paid for 2019?

I think the hold up was more about the difference in what each coach was due to earn next season, I believe Wayne was due about $500k more then Siebold.

I suspect if Wayne felt Souths were more chance of a premiership in 2019 then Brisbane he may have pushed harder for the move. Either that or he was deliberately trying to wreck the Broncos out of spite.

Posted By: Passing Through
Date Posted: 03 Dec 2018 at 10:01am
What sort of contract would Souths offer him? He had one more year at the Broncos and at his age, probably the end. He may extend his career by a couple of years with this, if the joint doesn't fall apart around him, amid all the gigantic egos at Souths.

Josh Mcguire is a massive out for Broncos, Pengai is not an 80 min player and that will affect rotations more than what people think . Cowboys have done very well .

No, he correctly wanted his contract honoured.

Shrunk - he was going for the double dip. It all backfired when he dishonoured his contract at the broncos by talking to Souths players while he was still in charge of the broncos - that's why he was sacked and forfeited his contract.

The old goat couldn't help himself. Should have scrupulously observed all the rules and behaved exactly as the coach of the Broncos in 2019 would be expected to- no contact with Souths. If you are going to bluff you can't be madly giving tells.

Manly Sea Eagles player Dylan Walker has been charged with assaulting his fiancee at a home on the Northern Beaches on Thursday evening.

Just after 5pm, police were called to the home in Dee Why.

They found a 24-year-old woman with "minor cuts to her shoulder, leg and feet," NSW Police said in a statement. She was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Walker, 24, was arrested at the home and taken to Manly police station where he was charged with domestic-related common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police also applied for an AVO to protect Walker's fiancee, Alexandra Ivkovic, a former Miss Universe Australia finalist who gave birth to the couple's son in July.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear in Manly Local Court next Tuesday. The Sea Eagles centre was driven away from Manly Police Station by coach Des Hasler after being granted bail.

Who says the NRL has had a serious problem, largely papered over, since time immemorial?  Shocked

Zane Musgrove has become the second NRL player in a 24-hour period to be charged with assaulting a woman.  The 22-year-old allegedly indecently assaulted a 22-year-old woman at a licensed venue in Coogee, Sydney, at about 12:30am on Saturday, November 24.  The woman reported the alleged incident to security and later made a report to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command.  On Wednesday detectives charged the West Tigers player with an act of indecency and aggravated indecent assault (offender in company).

On Thursday, they charged another 22-year-old man with assault and an act of indecency, aggravated indecent assault (offender in company) and common assault.(ie Dylan Walker already reported on here).

All  these programs they run at the clubs , trying to teach these blokes that assaulting a female is wrong, and you are high profile and so going to get caught out, doesnt seem to be doing much good does it ?   Maybe they need to take another path and tell them " dont do it , but if you do, you are gone ".  No club support and contracts torn up.  No matter how fast you can run, and how good you can tackle , and how good you can kick a ball,   stuff up and you can get a job as a brick layer or digging ditches.   Strike one and you are out.
But the clubs are too weak to do it. They want to keep any neanderthal that can help them win a premiership, no matter what they do.

The NRL need to take a stand and start booting guys out who do d!ckhead stuff, anything involving violence minimum 2 season ban from ALL levels of Rugby League, life ban for a second offense.

Letting guys like Lodge and Packer back in after violent offenses sends the image that the NRL doesn't consider it that big a deal. One only has to look at the social media reaction to Jack De Bellin yesterday to see the public perception of NRL players.

He told her he was single, she didn't know better, not a footy fan.

He also tried to get a friend for his room mate, who's Mrs just happened to be pregnant at time!

Is it the responsibility of the girls, whose motives are clearly to have a good time and get high profile scalps, or the player to say no? These girls dont know, or if they do, they dont care about marital or relationship status, they just want the scalp in a hotel room, a carpark or a toilet. They dont care. If the players had any respect for their partners or their relationships they just avoid the situation.

So you are saying many smart young women are prepared to suffer bad behaivour , bashing, infidelity etc, at the hands of a bloke who supposedly loves them, because they cant go out and make a life and living for themselves , and get on with their lives without these blokes hanging off their arm ?  If thats the best they can make of their life, thats very sad.

Obviously aa, she thought that she was the victim and if she withdrew the statement the charges would be dropped, but she obviously does not know that once a third party gets involved it does not matter if the statement is withdrawn, the charges stay and the case goes ahead. And the third party here were the witnesses who called the cops.

I find it absolutely illogical, that the Players Association have negotiated a 29% share of the broadcast money (remember the players threatened to strike during the season), and the players accepted responsibility for the sports image, yet the NRL do not have a clause in there saying that any of this off field bull#@it, means you forfeit the 29% share.

That is the only reason I can imagine she would stick with him.

Why does any battered wife stay in an abusive relationship? Why should footballer's wives be any different to any other wife?

Lots of footballer,s wives are young, attractive, and have a career or buisness of their own .  Time to bail before the kids start arriving .

Scott Bolton escaped with a common assault downgrade with no conviction recorded in exchange for a guilty plea. 12 month good behavior bond.

After listening to that story, I am thinking it would never have gone anywhere if he wasnt a famous footballer.  You all know my opinions of some footballers, as knuckle draggers, but this was a bit over the top !  He touched her leg ?  Give us a break !  Dearie me.Ermm

Yes it was amazing it went anywhere. Had it not been for security cameras showing the ''incident'' and her insistence of action and the bar protecting themselves from litigation that it went anywhere at all. Not sure how how toughing someone's leg to urge them not to leave constitutes sexual assault, let alone common assault.

Dunno but does it have something to do with embarrassing videos and pictures of a former team-mate?

Dont know. I was wondering why you mentioned his name being a former team mate.

Ferguson was supposed to have leaked a video of Kane Evans that went nowhere.

Paul Carter was accused of being the leaker but he denies it.
