I agree Sunline, as long as they do not get to greedy they will have a lot of fun with her.

Looks a Australian Guineas, Coolmore mare to my eye, and having the light spring should allow her to mature a little bit more.

Good times ahead!

Resumes tonight at Launceston.

Like everyone else here, l've got a big opinion of this girl.

I won't be launching into the $1.30 tonight though

l could see her winning something like the Myer in the spring.

So why does a jockey that can't make a living in his own state , outride our best? Because as I have said before? There is nothing between the best (or the best on the list that's printed) and good jockeys. There are a lot of good jockeys. But the press? But all these gurus think jockey X is a star . But reality is there is little between them. Light weights get more opportunities. C Williams proves that

One thing that worried me is that trainer said she doesn't like being boxed in. I only saw it live so far, but it seemed like Darmanin had a bit (well, a lot actually) of luck but also eased her just enough at times to keep her comfortable enough to produce her finish. Great to watch. I hope he stays on her.

Probably? And it looks like trainer was wrong! Horse loved racing on inside. But if got beat? Would not of being saying great run? They would of sacked jockey for ridding it great because they seem to think it can't win inside? So who was wrong? But that is what goes on in this game? Most are guessing

I think Bob Hoystead trained Sydeston when he went to Victoria and George Hanlon had Piping Lane when he won the cup. Apparently he took him on reluctantly and only as a favour to Ray Trinder who owned him in Devonport.

Des had the sister as well, Gin Lane, had ability but not a good doer and lacked a little strength.

She has had enough. Her trainer has said today is her final race of the campaing, that rules her out she is clearly showing her trainer she has had enough.

The real bad news is that they are targeting the Irrelevant Plate in the Spring and it will be her 4th start of the campaign.

The Guineas was her main target, but the plan for this prep was to always get her to the mile providing she got enough votes. They certainly wouldn't run her just for the sake of it, so dont right her off quite just yet.

I hope people now realise? That racing is built on press and advertising!!! There is nothing between our best and middle ranked trainers and jockeys!! It happens time and time again!! OPPORTUNITIES are what decides premierships not ability!! I think c Williams is leading rider in vic?? But does he ride any better then Darmanon?? No!! He just talks and smiles a lot and plays Simon the likeable! Darren weir and Robert smerdon were our leading stable a few months ago. Is Waller and grandson of BART any better then Robbie Griffith or Trinder?? The answer I know is? NO. Opportunities

She was headed by Alizee who had the soft run. Was drawing away at the end. 2000 won’t be any problem at all. Let’s just hope...pray...that she comes back in good order. So many of our top 3yos don’t measure up come Spring. Get the sense this one’s different.

Thanks mate.

Unlike some on here (not you) i have no issue admitting when I'm wrong.

I was wrong about her quality and I'm biased,I didn't think she would measure up (due to local formlines....which are stronger than i thought off Hellova St rxcellent run)

Just hope keeps it up and/or improves, as so many fillies go off the boil seemingly for no reason!!

Have to beat the best here first before it should even be considered.

Maybe if she wins a Plate and achieve what they want here (very much a big "if") hopefully connections might look at other options.

Starting so early in July seems an interesting decision.

Maybe a very spaced out prep considering only 4 starts last time in and almost 3 months until the Plate.

Date Posted: 29 Apr 2019 at 10:41pm
Horse like it’s runs spaced
Will have 4 runs before plate.
Doesn’t like being in paddock and struggled to keep it there the 8 weeks.
I’m guessing it runs July 27.
Then 4 weeks later.
Then next 3 races all 3 weeks apart.

Well if spacing the runs works then all good.

Always a worry that she mightn't come back as good but equally she might come back better so let's see I guess.

Certainly some top races up for the taking this Spring depending on who comes from overseas.

She seems like the type of horse that will keep improving. It’s not as though she was fully developed young and was beating up on smaller horses. She has growing to do and is so relaxed I think she will be even better in the spring.
Fingers crossed she is the next big thing

Overseas travel considered for Mystic Journey

Adding to the excitement of Mystic Journey’s return to the races, Adam Trinder has announced his intentions to allow the Group 1 winning-filly to compete on the world stage.

Trinder explains that while his and connections’ focus firmly remains on her upcoming spring campaign, they are daring to dream of travelling the daughter of Needs Further, if she continues her all-conquering path.

“We are looking at the long-range plan with her, we are not going to over tax her, she’ll just have four or five runs per preparation,” Trinder told Racing.com at his Spreyton property.

“But we’d love to travel her at some stage, whether that be Japan or Hong Kong, they are probably the two countries that appeal to us most directly.

“I don’t think that will transpire in her four-year-old year, that’s probably more likely to occur in her five-year-old year, if all is going well.”

Trinder has mapped a four or five run spring campaign heading toward the Cox Plate for the rising four-year-old and explains the Tasmanian filly will most likely return to the races in late July.

“Obviously our next preparation is directly in our mindset and that’s a five run preparation culminating in the Cox Plate,” Trinder explained.

“She’s (less) than a month away from her first up assignment, she’ll head to 1200 metres first-up (in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield) and continue to improve throughout the campaign as the distances rise.

“The initial mindset at this stage is that we’ll (then) go the month into the Memsie Stakes at 1400 metres, but that may potentially be her kick-off point, we’ll just monitor that ground there for the Bletchingly.

“If the ground is suitable then she’ll take her opportunity in the Bletchingly, if not we’ll just wait (until the Memsie) and start off over 1400 metres.

“At this stage, all boding well, she'll have four races and then into the Cox Plate.”

Mystic Journey enjoyed a lengthy spell in the paddock after her outstanding autumn campaign, where she not only won the inaugural All-Star Mile at Flemington on March 16 but won the G1 Australian Guineas two weeks earlier at the same venue.

While she hasn’t grown, Trinder says she’s strengthened and he’s confident she can take the next step as a four-year-old mare.

“She came out after the All-Star Mile and had six weeks in the paddock, she could have quite easily raced again after the All-Star Mile, she wasn’t dented in any regard, she was still at the top of her game,” said Trinder.

“But as a three-year-old filly I didn’t see the reason to tax her anymore, there was no need for us to be in Sydney through the autumn so we put her away.

“She spelled at my farm and let down really quickly in a short period of time which is always a good sign.

“She’s really deepened down through the shoulder and she’s got a bit of strength about her hindquarter.

“She hasn’t grown that much in height or stature but she’s just probably furnished at the back end of her three-year-old year.

“The breed do tend to get a little bit better with age, she’s obviously got Zabeel right through her bloodline, so I’m hoping the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.”

We'll find out won't we? Why do people buy racehorses if not to dream of Group 1 success?
Many don't make the necessary progress to their 4yo season but no one knows untill they've been tested.

I’m pretty sure Adam rode a winner or two in Japan so it shouldn’t be too great a stretch for him to train a winner there as well

I’d nearly also guess that this fine young man has never seen a jigger in his life either.
There are differences in what people in this industry regard as good ‘horseman’.

1200m and 5 race campaigns. If they do not take her overseas at 4 she will never go.

She will be dipping in form quick smart.

She certainly knows how to savage the line, tough as nails.

I see Darmanin was suspended for another ride today.

I would think if I was a jockey in his position, where I have a gold plated superstar for a carnival, that I may think about just riding that horse only during their prep.

I remember Scott Seamer during Ethereal's spring where he rode a few others, but he restricted himself, and never put his ride on her, in jeopardy.

If I was Anthony I would be just riding her over the next two months.

If she goes through thsi prep undefeated, this could set Anthony up for life financially!

I don’t remember Bowman worrying too much about missing out on Winx

Yeah that is correct Sky, but, in all honesty Anthony is not getting the top rides from Waller or Godolphin.

For a jock like him, this is a life changing chance. I understand jockeys need to keep in racing fitness, but I would seriously consider making this choice.

Looks like the Cox Plate is off to Tasmania this year.

Looks like continued mare dominance, either her or Verry Elegant, of Australian racing. We need a special Australian wfa scale because the boys aren't good enough to give the top mares weight.

I reckon Very Elleegant can knock her off, IF she learns to settle.

No need to change wfa scale. The best colts are at stud & the best geldings are sent to Hong Kong. Mares now have more opportunities due to lack of competition.

Name one of those that stood between Winx and BCs total domination, if only they weren't retired or in HK?

She does not need to settle.

She is perfectly fine the way she is.

It's not just needed in Australia it should be across the planet.
