Well done to Chatswood Stud for securing Inference and pricing him at the very commercial $8,800. Group 1 winner over the Randwick mile, son of So You Think from a very commercial family. Great type. Just wish he was closer.

He was quite a limited plodder, why would you send a mare to him

He was at worst ranked in the top 3% of horses in Australia.

What does that say about the other 97% ?

He was a 2YO winner and metro placed as a juvenile from only two starts, his three year old form was excellent, including a Randwick Guineas win beating Comin' Through and placings in both the Rosehill Guineas (to Gingernuts) and in the VRC Derby when he should have won. Like a lot of stallions, his form tapered off as a four year old. But he was still only two lengths off them in an Underwood and four off Winx in the 1400m Warwick Stakes.

By So You Think, out of a lovely G2 placed Redoute's Choice mare who threw a million dollar Pierro colt this year and he is a ripping type. I reckon there's a lot more ticks to this bloke than many who have been retired for double the fee in the last couple of years.

I know, maybe I’m being harsh but I hate well devolved horses who beat up on their own age whist their the biggest baby in kindy.

Just don’t think his 4yo form warrants any respect as a stallion. Breeding to mediocrity

But ive lost way too much money on breeding my own so I’m no judge

I know where you're coming from but you've just described most of our best stallions!

I don't know.  Some just get retired early - that is different to not performing as a 4 or 5yo.  Likewise you could say Star Kingdom was a brilliant two year old, alright three year old and trained off.  But likewise you can look at both I am Invincible, Spirit of Boom and Lonhro who all had some two year old form but definately got better with age.

So there can be and should not be one way of looking at things.  To many variables in this game.

I'm always a bit wary when a stallions Group 1 is:

           *   against its own age group
           *   is on a heavy 11

He is a good looking unit tho

Glencoe, is right on the money
I was looking at this Bloke, nice cut of a horse,  and then looked at the races record

Wins were on
Ballarat Soft 5,
Bendigo Soft 7,
Pakenham Synthetic,
Randwick Guineas Heavy 10

2nd to Gingernuts Rosehill Guineas Heavy 10

So its a pass him by

Chatswood were reasonably big players for a while there does anybody know what happened ??

Seem to be just making up the numbers these days.

I spoke to a staff member a few years ago & it'd be one of the last studs in Vic. that I'd deal with or send a mare. Most unprofessional & penny pinching was my take out Disapprove
