From a friend who said: "PS could be going to the Queen Anne according to the trainer. Buick jumped off and said he was world class. But always a risk as he had a few sheep lose in the top paddock. Cracksman was bloody huge. Won’t be beaten over 2400m this year baring bad luck. Forget the opposition. I brilliant run is a brilliant run full stop. Only a novice doesn’t understand this. I’ve explained how Winx leg speed is off the charts- for Cracksman it’s his length of stride. Two of the largest strides we’ve seen in recent years are BC and Frankel- both peaked at 26.5ft. Hello, I had a look at the starters of "1000 Guineas" (fillies) today (8-10 hours behind your time). I noticed 2 listed runnes "Billesdon Brook", "Anna Nerium" are descending from "Anna Oleanda" (Helmet/Epaulette) to Anna Paolo, a German damline and further back to Adria. Soliloquy has an AUS/NZ damline tracing to Cinna. regards, Ticino

While this should go in the North American Thread... German bred A Raving Beauty (GER) (Mastercraftsman (IRE) - Anabasis (GER)) won the G3 Beaugay Stakes at Belmont Park, NY, USA in fine style. Previous start, 2nd in the (G1) Premio Lydia Tesio in Rome, Italy. Also the G1 Man O' War Stakes was won by Hi Happy (ARG), who back in 2015 won the G1 Carlos Peligrinni but was not successful on the West Coast in 4 tries but has come around after winning the G2 Pan American at Gulfstream Park. High class internationals seem to beat the locals on turf - and that is no surprise! |

| Betting tonight has the Guineas winner in a one horse race to take the second leg of the Triple Crown. Probably no hope to stay the trip of the third leg, not that they'd even attempt it. He has to stay the 2400m tonight first which is a bit of a doubt on the dam side. Grand dam Sumora ( Danehill ) only got 1000m and mum Maybe ( Galileo ) stayed little more than 1400m. Will class alone get Saxon Warrior home or maybe a stable mate like Delano Roosevelt? |

Saxon warrior seemed to stumble coming out of the stalls.....not sure how much difference it made. Roaring Lion did not seem comfortable coming round Tattenham corner....but that is the nature of the Derby. |

I thought Roaring Lion would hold on for 2nd but he seemed to flatten out just a bit in the end. Good run. Masar, had travelled a bit. Was in the US for the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf and was 6th to Mendelssohn. Ran poorly on the dirt in Dubai in March but seemed to get much better when he dumped Roaring Lion as the odds on favourite in the G3 Craven Stakes at Newmarket. His 2000 Guineas was probably a throughout as the 5/2fav as 3rd. In hindsight 16/1 for him was really quite backable at least if you backed him in the 2000 Guineas there was no reason not have something at those odds. Especially if you backed Godolphin horses.

Think it was Kingman's third starter. Interestingly the Oz-bred shuttler Kuroshio sits 2nd on the British First season sires list with 4 winners from 10 starters.

Took a while for Kingman to break through but boy oh boy what a break through. Yes no surprise really as Kingman didn't have his first start until end of June over 1400m. I watched a Kuroshio win a few weeks ago. Unlike Kingman's I'd have expected them to go early or not at all. The latter stallion should have a lot more runners in the second half of the season as more UK 2yo maidens are then run at 1400m and a mile.

Super interesting runner tonight at the Curragh in the shape of a full brother to American Pharaoh named St Patrick's Day. Two runs last year for Bob Baffert and now with the O'Brien team. Ran second at first start to a horse that then was beaten less than a length in the Gr1 Del Mar Futurity. At his second start beat the subsequent fourth behind Justify in the Kentucky Derby. Withdrawn twice already this month so no certain starter. In race four tonight 12-25am Melbourne time.

| Back at the tail and ridden early. Got back on the bridle in the straight and looked to be coming to take the race before fading slightly in the last 100m to run third. Was laying about a bit and didn't look comfortable on a fast turf surface. |

Thanks Brudder, 2min-31+sec quite reasonable for such an undulating track over one and a half miles, watched Winning Post a few days ago they had the whole family there , great little interview with such a close knit family, Donnacha the son who rode that winner is going to break a few hearts, he's a bit of a looker not unlike his mum,

Fashion's Star an interesting first start winner at Newbury tonight. She's by Sea The Stars out of a half sister to Pakistan Star. Bred by owner of Sea The Stars Christopher Tsui. Made 100K at Goffs September sale as a yearling then 400K in France at Arqana ready to race sale in May. A nice earn for Brendan Holland and Grove Stud. A German raced dam, so interest for Ticino there. Cracksman just won the Champion Stakes very easily. It was his most impressive performance of the season. Earlier Roaring Lion successfully dropped back to the mile to narrowly win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. Other Gp1 winners were Sands Of Mali (defeating Harry Angel) in the British Champions Sprint Stakes & Magical in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes. Stradivarius won the Gp2 British Champions Long Distance Cup despite racing erratically. |

Good to see Roaring Lion win. As for Cracksman.....awesome win. Anyone know about the strength of oppoaition he beat? ------------- Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers |

So the field that Cracksmam beat...was it similar to what Winx is beating..as the race was 2012m..was therace siniliar to the Turnbull field? ------------- Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers |

Admittedly I've watched it once but thought Dettori made his run seeing that his only real rival would not be able to make an immediate countering move. Probably put 2L on before she could start her run and from that point he always had the better sprint. In any case the 3rd horse will drag his rating down as the horse is fully exposed and is a C-grader |

I'm glad I didn't bet in the Gp1 Prix Royal Oak. Early on, the two favourites were running 1st & 2nd until they reached an all-weather crossing. Flag Of Honour was spooked by the crossing, tried to jump it & interfered with Brundtland costing both horses possibly five lengths. Holdthasigreen won the race. |
