Well said Mr Mayor.  Clap

Subby's post was totally out of order.

ps we Mighty Woods may actually finish as high as Top-9 now that Moana Hope is expected to replace that useless left-footed log who defected to to the bulldogs.

Ok I will take it as the 2017 thread ..Predictions

All Sydney grand final , Swannies to reign .
My Pies wont make the 8.
Hardwick will be eaten alive by round 10 and be first coach sacked.
Emergence of Dees & Saints both to make the 8
Carlton will not win a game
Scott brothers can book their holidays in September this year, neither will team will play finals.

Finally its back , Move over Virat Kohli the real stuff begins tonight..

-------------
The only problem with backing winners ? You never have enough on....

Richmond still $51 to win the flag. Surprising as I thought the entire Richmond army would be getting on tonight. Dustin Martin $7 second favourite behind Dangerfield $6 to win Brownlow.

Predictions

Minor premiers - Adelaide
Premiers - Hawthorn
Coleman - lynch
Brownlow - danger

Outlandish prognostications

Carlton will win 9 games or more
Dogs will Finish 7th after h & a
GWS will win exactly 1 final
neither saints nor Dees make the 8

Posted By: subastral
Date Posted: 24 Mar 2017 at 1:51pm
Danger basically had the Brownlow over and done by round 1 last year. Dusty certainly has 3 in the bag already. That was a masterclass yesterday, and a very good example of someone backing themselves in over delaying contract talks. He added plenty to his value last night

fair result...Dogs played well...were allowed plenty of rebound room and took full advantage...

Pies played with virtually 21 men with Mason Cox being close to useless...time to end the experiment and play an actual AFL player...

Gaelic footy is the only cross code experiment that has had any success.
Might've forgotten 1 or 2 exceptions . Just cause a guy can leap high & scores well on the beep test doesn't mean he can play afl.

Wood looked lost n confused last night.

Congrats mate, woulda given you some flutters late.
Good start.

Not so for my team. The Hawks were disappointing but lots of room for improvement
And enough to work with .,so still hopeful they can improve.
Missed a lot of set shots last night and messed up a few regulation goals with simple skill errors..& donated them a couple with even worse errors.
O'meara looked like he hadn't touched a footy in 20 yrs, he's much better than that.
Capt to come back also..

Great to see roughie out there again.

Ade v gws will be a cracker.
I like ade, had GWS comfortably covered same fixture last yr.
They have the most potent fwd line in the comp., their issue is winning
Enough of the ball to feed them. At home there's always the possibility they break a game open & can score quickly. anyways should be a good game to watch.,

Bombers in for a good year, coach has them playing with passion and the skipper had a huge game.

Hawks might struggle for a change

Better than 5th fav for the flag & a tad unloved curiously

Crows had a few out as well

Not much love for them in betting due to the depth in the midfield , but gees they have goal kickers all over the place

* Hope they have a big year, became a member when in Adelaide

I think they'll go close mate. they've had a couple of finals series to get their eyes in
& seem to be getting better.

Away the the mighty Hawks who didn't look too mighty last week.
Not optimistic re winning but hoping for a better showing. Less Fumbling & sloppy kicks.

lions at home to ess are big odds.
I'll have a $ or 2 on them
Ess played ok but IMO weren't all that.
Didn't see the lions game at all but new yr their tails up why not

Nah, neither club has enough fans in Mel to fill the MCG. Nothing wrong with game at Etihad last night. Great atmosphere and skills.

How long will the AFL persist with the Gold Coast team? Dead set embarrassing and they are not improving one bit, Gary Ablett the champion is wasting his time at that joint regardless how much money he is on.

How can the Kangaroos kick 8 in the 3rd quarter, and with all the momentum behind them get done after requiring the Cats to kick 5 goals to nil to win the game?

Didn't see the match, but it would appear to smack of poor player attitude, poor coaching, or both.  Confused

Port Adelaide absolutely flogging Freo, this after last season's debacle.

Had to feel a bit for Buckley watching his players do things that he never did as a player. That's prob his problem as a coach.

My thoughts so far -

Adelaide - Very very good, top 4.

Brisbane - Much improved, Won't push top 8, but will cause a few upsets and be more competitive, bottom 4.

Carlton - Not as bad as some making out, bottom 4 though.

Collingwood - Think they are ok, mid table, even with a 0-2 start.

Essendon - Pretty good, but have doubts long term. 7th - 10th

Fremante - Bottom 4

Geelong - Strong as usual, push for top 4

Gold  Coast - Hopeless, bottom 4

GWS - Will go close, top 4

Hawks - On decline, 6th - 10th

Melbourne - On the rise, 6th - 10th

Kangaroos - Rebuilding, but will go ok, mid table or just below

Port - Pretty strong, top 8, not sure where though

Richmond - 9th lol. lower half of top 8

St Kilda - 7th - 11th

Swans - Top 8, not sure about top 4

Eagles - Top 8, dont think they will make top 4

Bulldogs - Top 4 and will go close again

Think some decent sides will miss 8 this year, hard to pick

Pretty much agree with your assessments there heavy..
Port, melb and tigers prob the toughest to line up: re how much have they improved.

hopefully melb go on with it ,play an exciting brand and their supporters deserve some success.

Re Buckley when is enough enough?
How many years of failing is he allowed?

Buckley has said he'll go if the Pies don't make the Eight this year.

As a supporter and occasional visitor to the sheds can't find much wrong with his coaching as such, however despite forward coaches, mid-field coaches, defender coaches, goal-kicking coaches, etc etc like all teams have; if

players continually fail to find targets
mid-fielders won't work sufficiently hard in the back half
defenders won't act as launching pads
forwards can't kick straight......................................................then you can't win too many games.

Just reckon their playing staff is fairly ordinary, but someone has to carry the can and that will certainly be Buckley.

very ordinary forward line...if you can keep playing Blair you're in trouble...when White is your best forward you're in trouble...

Can't say the Hawks are tanking they've already traded away next years draft picks. Ouch Think results of the last few days go to show that in modern football if you don't come to play and the other team does, you're fisted, regardless of "form". Never bet on AFL and I won't be starting soon.

1:1 IMO could do worse than $8 freo to make the 8.

Dees a couple of good players down today
So freo get their chance. I think melb are.a pretty good team so not potting them
But they had a gruelling game last week too and are a tad vulnerable here I reckon.

If you wait till after this week and freo win that $8 will disappear ofc
Maybe down to $4 or something like that.. Could either get on pregame or
Back freo today and let it ride if they win on them to make the 8..
If they lose today makes it tough and their odds will obv drift and if your are still tempted
Could always go again.
If I was backing them to make the 8 and id lean towards plan b.

Could do worse than a $ or 2 on Hawkins for the Coleman too IMO.

I like the blues this week : big odds wth the home state adv and been ok last 2 weeks
Will be having a few $ on them

Correct Eccair. Unfortunately I used my Power Play early days when odds were much shorter. $2.80 to $3.20 I think before first round. I have kept backing them each week so have got plenty on at great odds over past few weeks. I would think price would be $4 or less now when market reopens. Also got Fyffe going for plenty e/w (top 3) in Brownlow. Cheers

Moore is going to find out how bad Cloke had it the last few years under Buckley and his game plan. I didn't like Cloke senior coming out and bagging Collingwood or Buckley the other week in defence of Travis. But he was right Travis & Moore are both disadvantaged by the way the Collingwood midfield get the ball into the forward line. Cloke was right the game plan needs to change to get the ball into the forwards faster instead of the midfielders stuffing around with. Buckley will be gone at the end of the year and it wouldn't surprise me to see Collingwood make a play for Paul Roos. Don't think they'll get him but they'll try

Moore is young skinny kid who is still learning his trade. He'll get better as he grows and fills out. That is going to take time as he isn't a young beast like Jessie Hogan. Moore is also disadvantaged with Cloke now gone. Moore gets the best defender each week making his job as a forward even harder. The problem for Moore is  he's a forward playing in a very average side. Put him in a good side with other crack forwards to learn off and you'd see a different player.

I'm a Melbourne fan but I have to say I did love watching the footy on the weekend. Sydney goes down to West Coast.  mind you I don't think that Sydney are playing all that poorly, they've been stiff in some of the games so far this year.  Then the highlight for me Hawthorn had their brains kicked in by Geelong on Monday. Nothing better than seeing the Hawks get rolled and watching their fans go off their rockers in the stands. The crossovers to Clarkson were priceless to watch Thumbs Up

Moore needs to stop looking at himself on the big screen and get on with playing footy. I bet there is at leadt one mirror in every room of his house. Loves looking at himself.

1:1 Freo have looked the real deal last 2 weeks: comfortably beating the reigning premiers and an away win v a good team. Tonight a game they should win; hope they go on with it for you & me as they'll be carrying a couple of my $ to cover the 11.5 pts.

My top 8 now that the season is beginning to sort itself out.

Crows
Cats
Giants
Richmond
West coast
Dogs
Freo
Melb or port

Top 3 could be in any order as could the next 3..but theyll look the top 6 to me.
Showing some faith in the Tigers: they look a lot better this yr, imo. Playing With belief and like a team for a change.

I think St Kilda is a reasonable bet at $2.70.  You never know with them but if they can get their kicking boots on, and they love Etihad Stadium

Geelong have won 23 of past 28 h & a games with a % around 150.
As good a record as any team & I think they are slightly underrated.

Heavy do you give your team (the lions) a hope this week.. Big odds and a big headstart..
They have been better this yr; hope they can keep going the right direction

And Hawks supporters. You just can't stay up year in year out in this comp. Just hope for a brief dip, like Freo 2016.

The Woods, as expressed earlier, are short on talent.

Thank goodness we have the Hawks and Swans, neither of which can fly, to deflect attention from the under-performing peckers.  Star

St Kilda $2.70 head to head, they are giving away money, Saints to win by 20 points

Just goes to show-in modern footy if you're on or off by even 5% it can make a huge difference. Is this the same West Coast team I watched 2 weeks ago against the Hawks?
