Well, if Roz (what tf is it!?) Ward, Marxist LGBTIQRSTUV bully and "groomer", the ALP Leader's puppeteer in Victoria didn't convince you, new ACTU president, Long Tall Sally McManeater, Bullgelati Bill's latest handler, has certainly made it an easy decision for anyone who believes in the social and democratic ideals that underpin the Australian way of life!
This anarchic feminist - you know a woman who hates herself as much as she hates men, and then picks fights with everyone, but doesn't believe she should be held to account by Australian laws - is the archetypal new age socialist.

Androgynous (a sure giveaway for a natural self loathing fugly), and irrelevant in normal society, these are the people who can't live one day without being offended about something that normal people didn't even notice. They are the ones who want to take you to court for having a laugh, but encourage their own kind to break the laws of the land?

Haven't heard her comment on Radical Islamic Terrorism, and I doubt we ever will, assuming that she only watches the ABC and reads Fairfax news, she would not even be aware that there are Muslims in Australia other than the Muslims of convenience like Sam and Waleed, since there are none in leafy Paddington - not even serving chai lattes and Paleo banana bread in the hipster cafes!!!

Time to push back hard folks, reject these out of touch lunatics, before it's compulsory homosexuality and Sharia Law only.Dead

Check out Roz Ward and Sally McManus ... you could easily mistake them for brothers!

This is "shim"

She opened herself up to cop a serve re disobeying the law...but civil disobedience has a long history of causing change for the better. many examples.

she wasnt talking about murder, just industrial action. banks break the law, why cant unions?

She sounds like a little fighter, not afraid to tell it straight.

alas, i dont know her social position or activism. if she strays from union work and starts ranting and raving about identity politics she wont help. wayne swan certainly knows the pitfalls of ramming social progressive topics down peoples throats. in his words, he said the alp "will be straight out the backdoor" if that dominates over more common, inclusive policies or goals.

It would be funny if it were not true that she ranks as the No 1 oppressive thing for women that she wants to ban is "the mutilation caused by boob jobs", yet does not consider "banning the Burka" in the top 10 - the symbol of Islamic male dominance, in a religion where men impose their oppression by encouraging female genital mutilation.

Dr E

I have kept away from discussions and debates on TBV for several months because - whether you like it or relish it - of you.

There are several threads in the Joffs area that are terribly hard to get a good discussion, debate, or even heated argument with the other side without it descending into namecalling and ridicule. However, while everybody that regularly participates in these discussion puts a toe over the line on occasion and reins it back enough to allow the thread to generally resume a course of reasonable (if still heated) debate, every time you enter the room you single-handedly - and almost always lone-gun - come over the top with an incredibly incendiary post of demeaning literally everybody you disagree with, and everybody who represents them.

I spent a couple of hours killing time yesterday catching up on some reading on several of these threads on the Joffs part of this Village, and having been out of the loop for a while and cramming it all in at once I was amazed at how often, in a thread on very sensitive subjects, you exclusively and with no help from anybody else take issues that people from vastly different parts of the political spectrum are doing their best to debate with a general level of decorum and immediately drag them down to a level of schoolyard namecalling, demeaning language towards all who would disagree with you (both those who are published and even those who may dare to question you on the thread in the future), demean and despise all who represent at least half of the population of this country, and refuse to involve yourself in anything resembling a discussion on the issues. Rather, seeming to follow the 'if I yell loud enough, long enough, bully enough, frequency enough, ignore facts enough, contradict enough, close down enough, that you will somehow 'win' a thread and become king of the thread.

Why? Dr E, I don't consider you evil, I don't even believe half the things you say, because some of the time you completely contradict yourself. But why do you insist on poisoning every single thread you participate in the Joffs section of this Forum with your vitriole?

I have spoken to you at length in private about several issues - including some that might affect your livelihood - and know for a fact that you are capable of not only having a high quality conversation about these subjects but are even polite and welcoming for the opportunity to express your opinions about them in a concise, unoffending manner.

I object to the way you talk about some of our politicians. I like Penny Wong, and not just because she leads a party on the same of the fence as me, but also because she is a reasonable politician. I find it grossly offensive that you would talk about her 'putting her big lesbian pants on'. I find that distasteful, it does nothing for the conversation, it does nothing for you, it does nothing for us, nor any of the people who also don't like her much. It just draws the level of debate down to a level that I really don't think anybody on this site except You appreciate. I'm not saying everybody here is a choir boy (girl, etc), but seriously Dr E, in my reading of these threads over the last 24 hours you have not slowed down since I grew tired of having you hijack threads before Christmas. Others cross the line but they always rein it in. But every time I have been reading through these threads thinking I am moving into some serious discussion about a topic, you post, and your posts drag everybody back down into the quagmire of namecalling and oneupmanship.

Is there any possible hope, Dr E, that you could rein it in? I mean permanently? There are so many people on here from the 'other side' (regardless of which side that is) that people from the 'opposite side' (regardless of which side THAT is) would really like to hear from, but Dr E, you are NOT providing 'balance'. You are poisoning the waters of discourse that everybody else is trying to navigate through except you.

Please consider what I've said, Dr E. Your posts ruin literally every single discussion you insert them into due to a behaviour that isn't really indicative of your own personal demeanour. Please for the sake of rational discussion, tone down your posts. Everybody goes into grey areas, but you are the only one out on the limb taking it all to the nth degree.

thanks mate.

Phaz

P.S. For what it's worth, your thread title is wrong. Anarchy is far, far right wing.

18c .

doc is a different style with colorful language...but i still read and have a laugh. i take most of it as tongue in cheek... like old macca. doc said previously he overstates for effect. in other words...taking the piddle. but i see some salient points in amongst it at times.

their is plenty of lunatics out there with moderate, diplomatic writing. each to their own. give as good as you get.

Stating what I hope is the obvious - Dr E obviously plays a role of being as un-pc as possible, deliberately being provocative etc. It's 80% of the point of every post he makes about these things. How people take any of it literally, rather than as satirical, I don't understand. Playing the fool to show up others is as old as the hills.
Having said that, I think this thread is useless and should be closed because it won't lead to anything good - especially if some people respond to his p*ss taking as if he's being totally serious.

Deary me.. the good Dr isn't the only one on here regurgitating their own agenda. I mean we all know before we even start reading them what Subby bangs on about on here every day , pro refugees, same sex marriage, indigenous racism, all men are bastards ( DV) , Aussies are rednecks , climate destroyers , blah, blah.... Judge almost exactly the same....PT is a touch narrower... turning every thread into an ALP support / cons ridicule dialogue... gives it to Abbott / Hanson / Turnbull as good as Miss Wong ever gets it from the Dr..   & of late all 3 have added the Trump "hate" comment everywhere they can fit it into the discussion in some obtuse way.
So I think singling the good Dr out is a bit tough. I'd also say without The Good Dr & PT regularly having their political / point of view stoushes the south end of the forum may as well be closed down. You see I'd luv to see all the old posters that have been booted back on here.   The Hollywoods, James Bond Esq, Grinners, Belsinker.. & a lot of others.. then we might attract back the Fiddlesticks , the Maccas , the Andicap....because quite frankly I find the current threads to be as boring as they obviously do !

Yes Isaac, I think I'm like many people, when I say that I find it frustrating that so many trade union leaders who are promoted to politics are extremely envious of everyone else, especially people who have made real careers for themselves. I also find them to be generally very rude and impolite, insincere and corrupt.

It is obvious to me, when we see an appointment like Ms Sally McManus to the ACTU role, that the "machine" has a distinct "type" that they wish to develop.

Sadly (maybe not so), this "type" is very rarely representative of a very substantial portion of the general public.

I think this will lead to their lack of appeal electorally, and general demise. Big smile

Brendan Grylls, nationals, losing to a labor bloke in the Pilbara, will be bad news.

Grylls wanted to increase the mining royalty paid to the state from .50 cents to $5. The mining mob hit back saying it would cost jobs. Jobs are being lost anyway to automation, and the miners, BHP, Robe etc are making millions in profits; their super funds will be the beneficiaries.

But sweet revenge; they will have to contend with the unions now.

The labor poli i spoke with called Grylls arrogant, and the unions had done wonderful stuff for the country.

If any one thinks things have changed, sadly no. Same old, same old.

From memory Hawke, Crean, Combet, Shorten & George have been secretary, president of the ACTU. or in the case of Shorten, secretary of AWU, have all used those appointments as a stepping stone to the more lucrative career as of a member of the federal parliament, with all its perks.

Let's hope for Australia's sake, the two current incumbents at the ACTU McManus & Kearney do not have similar ambitions, but I would not bet on it.

Satire? Presumably the meaning of the word has recently been changed. His posts are so puerile and irrational that they venture into the realms of the unhinged. Are Trump's tweets also "satire"? Not at all they reflect his ignorance and narcissism extremely well.

Spencer served in the Australian Defence Force for over 20 years, including overseas service with the US Army in a senior representational role. He is a graduate of the UK Royal Military College of Science and completed a 6 month attachment to the British and European Defence industry with the UK Ministry of Defence. He was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) for his service within Defence. He has since worked as management consultant in his own business and with IBM. He has been a part-time lecturer in the engineering faculty at RMIT and has been actively involved in the local community. Spencer contested this seat at the 2013 election.

cabosanlucas, who would vote for Dreyfus , a lawyer, or a former member of the ADF ?
or would you vote on party lines ?

Bob, you're making little sense.

Your bloke here might have some background, but he's a Rupert, nothing more, nothing less.

ps seem to remember Jacqui Lambie was once a member of the ADF.  How do you rate her?

Second Chance, I was responding to cabo's post where he posted he would not vote for a lawyer.
Andrew Hastie, the member for Canning in the federal parliament , was highly decorated member of the ADF. How do you rate him ?

What is a Rupert ?

In 2015 Hastie linked Islam to terrorism, calling for Islam to reform and for the religion to 'cohere with the Australian way of life'. In response to this Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull identified him as having been briefed by ASIO on the dangers of using inflammatory language about Islam.

Hastie's advertising materials for the Canning by-election and the 2016 election campaign included an image of Hastie in his army uniform, a breach of a general ban on participating in political activity in uniform, leading to Hastie being dismissed from the Army Reserves.

not his biggest fan. alp have some legal background types too, not denying that.

my comparison was with bankers/lawyers and union background. Put dreyfus up against a union guy and id prefer union mp.

Here is one that will confuse you, Mike Kelly, member for Eden Monaro

A 20 year veteran including commendations for service in Somalia, East Timor, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq.  Reached the rank of colonel, made a Member of the Order of Australia, is a military and civilian lawyer, leaving the army as director of Military Legal Services.

Oh sorry, he is a Labor Party MP.

Weightlifting: Transgender lifter Laurel Hubbard wins first international outing

Kiwi weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has dominated her first major competition, taking out the Australian International in Melbourne on a night she made history as the first transgender athlete to represent New Zealand.

Hubbard, 39, won the women's over 90kg division at the Melbourne event, setting four unofficial national records in the process. Hubbard lifted a combined total of 268kg - 19kg better than silver medallist Iuniarra Sipaia of Samoa.

Australia's Kaitlyn Fassina claimed the bronze medal with 223kg.

Hubbard looked visibly emotional as she lined up behind dais awaiting the official medal presentation. But she kept the tears at bay, smiling and waving as she stood atop the podium.

Earlier this month the Herald revealed  http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11811451" rel="nofollow - Hubbard had been selected to make her international debut  at the competition after usurping Rio Olympian Tracey Lambrechs at the top of the division.

I don't care about us and them.  I'm about sick of both sides ripping into each other and forgetting they are there to goveren.  For better or worst we are all part of Australia.  She needs help in so many ways.  Forget calling the kettle black as we have all made bad decisions and made mistakes.  Mistakes which hould be forgiven - because that is all they were.  Today the chances to judge are pretty big with social media blacklisting anyone who fails to do what they think they should.

All this back room guidence sees to be guidence in the other sides mistakes.  What about your mistakes.  Your opening yourself up but like Trump it seems people like to rip into each other.  Believe every word and forget to do a bit of background research themselves.  The last election we were told constantly by Turnbull (adds) that if we voted for the other side we were doing a diservice to ourselves.  He was the only one who could get us back on the straight and narrow.  Well get on with it.... I'm still waiting....and waiting....

I'm sick of this tit for tat.  No one is perfect and politians are probably worst that some others.  Party policy is good sometimes but likewise if the bill is good why block it.  Heavens forgive the other side will do something to help Australia!  Get us back on track.  Let parents be parents.  They make mistakes also.  1/2 the time raising a child is hit and miss with trying to find a nice balance.  I had six and they were all different.  Let teachers get on with teaching not helping the bullies or the child who wont sit still or listen.  Help the children realise there is a limit and there will be penalties.  Probably the best is to limit anything electronic!

But this us and them has to stop.  We are all Australians.

I am for equal rights but allowing them to compete against women is just wrong.  Is the way of the future though.  I don't care if her testosterone levels are below the threshold,  he/she still has an advantage from innate and residual masculinity.

Is it that everyone wants change, to what is not certain, but we are wanting the next person to start first?

And those with the loudest voice do so from a position of strength; left, middle and right.

conundrum.

on a sporting field, you see inherent differences. if she was forced to compete against men, the argument would be that its sexist, discriminatory and unfair...and she is at a disadvantage. She is a woman afterall.

so transgender athletes have no fair and equitable gender when it comes to competition and sport.

Is that innate & residual masculinity a problem in a womans change room?

i dont know the answers

But this us and them has to stop.  We are all Australians.

The ideology rules/power is everything/fcuk the country phenomenon is relatively recent  in "modern" politics (on the other hand it reflects early Australian politics, but they had many more excuses), arguably commenced under Howard and perfected by the much lesser (in every way) Abbott. This is further exacerbated by poll paralysis wherein bipartisanship for the greater good is shunned because both Liberal and Labor value power over the national interest. Oppositions won't support reasonable (if imperfect) legislation for fear of not gaining power. When you add in the enormous vacuum in REAL leadership and ideas, the future looks dim for younger generations. Things will change but not until we offload the current lot of egotistical time serving dressmakers present in both major parties and replace them with smarter and hopefully better people (yes that's optimistic - look at how quickly Fraudenburg [sic] became a lost cause).

If you want a perfect example of the lack of care about the national good do some reading on big mining and big petroleum and the appalling and culpable act of conservative federal politicians in forcing the emasculation of the MRRT prior to dismantling it totally. Cost to Australians? Billions in lost revenue. Then make your way to the PRRT and the generous - nay reprehensible and irresponsible - concessions handed to gas producers by Howard and Costello which will result in some paying effectively zero tax in our lifetimes on the back of huge profits. Cost to Australians? Tens to hundreds of billions.

Budget crisis? What budget crisis - we're so wealthy we can afford to allow multinational companies to exploit our natural resources for a relative pittance. Australia has recently joined Qatar at the top of world gas export. Qatar will reap $29B from their exports while Australian will get a paltry $800M - ie thirty six times less - for this non-renewable resource. And Morrison claims we don't have a revenue problem. Ignorant pr!ck. Eventually when complacent Australians wake from their comfortable slumber they will realise we've been taken for a ride not only by mega multinational resource companies but by the very people we put in to govern on our behalf.

Make no mistake, without bipartisan support our resources will continue to be plundered and sold off for FAR less than their true worth to the nation by pathetic governments of both persuasions. Big mining recently spent $4 million campaigning against the Nationals leader in WA because he supported an increase in the iron ore levy. They got him beaten, just as they forced the pathetic Gillard/Swan hands on the MRRT.

THIS is the great travesty occurring right under our noses and with our unconscious/uncaring consent because when it's all boiled down, we simply don't really give enough of a fcuk to demand our representatives do anything about it.

Suspect that post, with or without an image, says rather more about you than it does about Julia.  Dead

ps however if Truffles' capitulation to his back-bench Right Wingers re 18c ever gets through the Senate you'd be in the clear, because your arguably "insulting, offensive or humiliating" effort would no longer be actionable because there was no intent to "harass".

this is a top read, and something ive been saying in a different style on here lately

progressive left - get off your high horse, stop alienating people, not every immigration concern spells racism or islamophobia, continue with progressive issues but dont ram them down peoples throats, bigger, broader economic issues are the priority not social identities

or more elegantly...
