Hello, I heard from another source above mentioned mare will be mated with Starspangledbanner. So I looked at her ped and have a somewhat other idea.
When I saw Desert King is the damsire of Maybe I had another idea, I thought of the yet unproven Frankel (by Galileo), so I did a Hypo, and it was quite enlightening, it would be 3x3 Danehill, the 3/4 Brothers Sadlers Wells, the HB Never Bend/Bold Reason + linebreeding to Frankels/Desert Kings damline (Circassia). It would be a pretty close breeding to Danehill. on hether Hand the Frankel/Danedream foal has the same pattern. As i see Frankel doesn't have many friends in AUS and if he will ever Shuttles to AUS is "written in the Stars".

Hello, here is my second Suggestion:
Rip van Winkle/Makybe Diva
It would be free of Danehill, but is 4x5x5x5 ND,3x4x4 3/4 Brothers Sadlers Wells/Nureyev + Lorenzaccio, 4x5 HB Bold Reason/Never Bend, linebreeding to Desert King/Don't Forget me damline (Circassia), linebreeding Lombard/Vaguely Noble (Belle Sauvage)
according the catologue he stands at Windsor Park Stud, NZ for a reasonable fee, so it could by a more likely possibility.

I also believe that could be great match Ticino. Just a pity we'll never know.

Whilst I doubt it will ever happen. Canford Cliffs is out of the 5th dam. Love that match up.

Sepoy would be interesting with the success of Desert King with Canny Lad mares and Sepoy being from that family. Canny Lad also has influence in LA Armistad's ped thru redoutes. There would also be 7 dups of Natamala in the 6th gen. Also ensure the foal got some speed minimizing risk of a dour plodder.

If we are lucky we may see him at the back end of next season in some of the mile 2yo races.
We are lucky in in that stable he will be given every chance to do what his pedigree suggests he should do.
We are unlucky in that he is in a stable that does not care about making stallions. Subby will be happy about that.

Wouldn't have thought DK had a history of success over CL mares. Only one springs to mind, but am more than happy to proved otherwise.

The 1 that springs to mind I presume is desert war. There is also his bro our desert warrior less successful but still you would have been happy with his efforts if you bred him. The current AEI is 7.95 and from 12 named foals 7 winners and 38 wins. Also other branches of the star kingdom line goes well; marscay 8 winners from 12 named foals, bletchingly 5 winners (1 stakeswinner) from 8 named foals, lord balina 2 winners from 3 named foals, luskin star 1 winner from 2 named foals, biscay 1 winner from 2 named foals.

I get them off stallions.com.au but not all stallions have them now they have changed the site so get them off gavelhouse which I could imagine is powered by Arion pedigrees (can't confirm that tho)

He has only sired three group winners from his time in Australia, one is from a CL mare and one from a Bletchingly mare. Banana Man is from a Kaapstad mare, also carries Bletchinglys Relic. Having said that, one stakes winner, at listed, from his last 1000 foals and no stakes winners in his last 12 crops, according to Arion.

Thanks, Ticino. Interesting to get a completely impartial view of the Diva amd her prospects as a mum - she could certainly do with a bit of dating-advice, given the results so far. I don't think the size of the service fee is an issue, though!

Just an observation on the cross / reinforcement of Circassia . There was a stallion who stood in NZ Maroof who is out of the same family as Desert King / Frankel / Don't Forget Me and he had two G1 winners Maroofity and Hit the Roof both out of Don't Forget Me mares .
I'd hazard a guess Maroof would have seen only a handful of Don't Forget Me mares so its a good strike rate .

Kind of banking on Monsun being the dominant influence & hoping the rest doesn't make a mess of it!
There's not a lot of excitement in Makybe's dam line (at least not to my novice eye). There is a different daughter of Mahmoud in Betsy Ross, but your 8 dams deep by the time you find her.
In any case, the whole exercise would be cheaper than another run at Redoute's. Maxy will throw a leg over for €10k. That leaves the best part of $100k to get over and back. He could bring back a playmate at that rate.

Geez, what a dart throwing exercise her choice of mates have been
Her fist foal arrived in 2007. He was by Galileo.
He sold as a yearling for $1,500,00 purchased by this year’s Melbourne Cup winning trainer Danny O’brien.
He raced as ROCKSTARDOM and won $29,015 in prizemoney.
He was then sold for $17,000
He is now dead.
Her 2nd foal arrived in 2008. She was by Fusaichi Pegasus.
She sold as a yearling for $1,200,000 purchased by trainer Mark Kavanagh.
She raced as LA DOLCA DIVA and won $6,500 in prizemoney.
She was then sold for $300,000 and has produced a stakes place getter in Touch of Mink.
Her 3rd foal arrived in 2009. He was by Encosta De Lago.
He was sent to France to race.
He raced as COASTER and was unplaced in his 4 starts winning $2,350 in prizemoney.
His whereabouts at present are unknown.
Her 4th foal arrived in 2011. He was by Lonhro.
He sold as a yearling for $360,000 purchased by Shadwell Australia.
He raced as TAQNEEN and won $14,750 in prizemoney.
He was sold for $5,500 and his only two wins were at the Picnic races.
Her 5th foal arrived in 2012. He was by High Chaparral.
He sold for $275,000 purchased by James Bester.
He raced as SURREY and has won $20,476 in prizemoney.
He’s won just 1 race and his latest run was 5 months ago when 15th in a BM 65 race.
Her 6th foal arrived in 2014. She was by All Too Hard.
She sold as a yearling for $300,000 purchased by trainer Tony McEvoy.
She races as DIVANATION and has won $75,600.
She’s had 7 starts, for 2 wins and 4 placings and is stakes placed.
Her 7th foal arrived in 2015. She was by Starspangledbanner.
She was retained to race by her breeder Tony Santic.
She raced as DEMAND ATTENTION and won $21,400 in prizemoney.
She retired this year after just one win from 5 starts.
Her 8th foal arrived in 2016. She was by Brazen Beau.
She has been retained by her breeder Tony Santic
She will race as SUBLIME DIVA.
She is a 3YO with Chris Waller and is yet to race.
Her 9th foal arrived in 2018. She is by Written Tycoon.
She is unraced and unnamed.
Her 10th foal arrived in 2019. She is by More Than Ready
In the great
mare’s favour is the fact her babies, while all slow, have gotten a
little better each time one has arrived.
And she looks like she might meld better with sprinting stallions.
Time will tell and she has an unraced 3YO, a 2YO and now this foal to improve her name in the breeding barn.

If she had a modest race record, she would have been pensioned or sold as a riding horse by her 5th or 6th foal. Hoping for lightning to strike so far has meant a lot of dry seasons.

Very expensive & exclusive bragging rights to own the son or daughter of multiple Melb. Cup winner Ego driven is my guess.

My one visit to Australia from Ireland in 2003, arrived the morning of the Melbourne Cup, went to the race, record crowd 122k, couldn't get within 50 yards of the track, did not see one horse. I heard Makbye Diva won. The lesson from her breeding record is it would have been better to send her to $1,000 sires. As said above. it is about bragging rights, how much you spent, not how much you won.

If you give a trainer or a bloodstock agent your money, $10k or $10 million, they will buy a horse, tell you it has a great walk, a good attitude, is athletic, comes from a good family, is by a sire who stamps his stock.

Speculation on breeding value. Ego is involved to some extent, speculation is bigger. If that $1M colt wins big, you get HUGE returns. Think of the money that will come in for The Autumn Sun. If your $1M colt is one of the few who is a super hit at stud, the Snitzels or IAI's of the world, your payoff is even bigger.
If your horse is good enough to stand at stud, then your $1M investment (minus racetrack stuff) can be paid off in 1 year with a $7500 fee and 130 outside mares. That's I Am Invincible, by the way. If your investment turns out to be a The Autumn Sun, with a starting fee of $77,000, you need 13 mares per million dollars of purchase to be even on your investment, and everything else is gravy.

Tony McEvoy:
"Divanation is a lightly raced daughter of the great Makybe Diva and
unfortunately hasn't been seen for nearly a year after knee surgery.
"She ran a place in the Warrnambool Cup at just her sixth start and has a lot of talent."

From racing.com
A four-year-old daughter of Makybe Diva has been snapped up for $125k on Inglis Digital’s most recent catalogue that ended on Wednesday. Avila, an unraced mare by Written Tycoon out of the three-time Melbourne Cup-winner was purchased by owner of stallion Russian Camelot, John Wheeler. Despite the Diva’s seven progeny who’ve made it to the racetrack sharing an underwhelming record, the opportunity to buy into the family of the seven-time Group 1-winner was an opportunity Wheeler simply couldn’t let slip. “It’s a bit hard to walk away from a family like Makybe Diva’s, there isn’t going to be any more,” he said. “The family is a strong family, a lot of the progeny haven’t raced as well as the dam, but they have raced and they have won, so at the end of the day you can only say there’s a chance.” Wheeler confirmed Avila was purchased as a breeding proposition, to be served by Russian Camelot in the coming months. “I’ll send her up to Three Bridges with Toby Liston and his family, I’m sure they’ll do a good job,” Wheeler said. “I’m happy, she’s going to go to Russian Camelot, I’m looking forward to hopefully finding a decent runner from them. “Any breeding like racing is a gamble, if there was any certainty in it, there’d be no disappointed owners of horses sending it to a Werribee maiden. “These things tend to run in generations, if you’ve got an active family and you can put it to what I hope is a very good sire in Russian Camelot I’m very happy.” Avila is the eighth progeny of Makybe Diva and finished sixth in a seven horse jump out field over 900m at Murtoa late last month before being put up for sale. Of her nine progeny to date, only Divanation, Taqneen, and Rockstardom have won above maiden grade. Makybe Diva’s progeny to date: Rockstardom (Galileo) – Danny O’Brien – 12: 2-0-2 – prizemoney: $29,015 La Dolce Diva (Fusaichi Pegasus) – Mark Kavanagh – 4: 0-0-0 – prizemoney: $6,500 Taqneen (Lonhro) – Mick Bell – 35: 2-4-3 – prizemoney: $14,270 Surrey (High Chaparral) – Liam Howley – 4: 1-2-0 – prizemoney: $9,987 Divanation (All Too Hard) – Tony McEvoy – 9: 2-2-2 – prizemoney: $77,200 Demand Attention (Starspangledbanner) – Chris Waller – 5: 1-0-0 – prizemoney: $29,740 Sublime Diva (Brazen Beau) – Colin Little – 13: 1-4-1 – prizemoney: $59,905 Terrifictonka (More Than Ready) – Anthony & Sam Freedman – yet to race

Shawy38] Unfortunately i dont think many were given the time needed, they would of probably performed better at an older age. Divanation looked the goods but pushed too early, and a pity they didnt keep the Written Tycoon in, probably would of been a smoky later on.
