As a South Australian would you learned forumites please give me your opinions on what marelines might suit Akeed Mofeed. From all reports he is an excellent type in conformation, bone, muscle, etc. and has an excellent temperament. Did not like heavy tracks and excelled on top of the ground. A son of Dubawi who liked to race on the pace. I am aware that Tiger Hill, didn't do much down here but already as a Broodmare Sire he has 10 S.Wnrs. from 123 rnrs. I have 2 mares who have been handy enough so far.

Dubawi over mares with Danzig (esp Green Desert) in the sire line works really well.
Lucky Nine and Makfi (both gr1 winners) have Green Desert as their broodmare sire, as do a number of other group winners by Dubawi.
And a host of other Group winners (inc. gr1) by Dubawi have mares with Danzig (and his sons) through their sire line.

Glencoe, some thoughts.
Akeed Mofeed has 4 lines of Buckpasser. Hail To Reason 6x6. Never Bend/Bold Reason. Bring in lines of Roberto and Mr Prospector. O'Reilly from 13B line and adds another Mill Reef and Buckpasser. Add more Sir Ivor.
Zabeel adds Nureyev to go with Sadler's Wells. Sir Ivor meshes brilliantly with Pass A Glance.
Sir Ivor is by a son of Turn-To out of Attica by Mr Trouble out of Athenia by Pharamond II out of Salaminia (Man O'War x Alcibiades).
Pass A Glance is by Buckpasser, a male line grandson of Menow (Pharamond II x Alcibiades) out of a granddaughter of Man O'War. Pass A Glance's dam Come Hither Look is by Turn-To out of Mumtaz, a full sister to Mr Trouble in Sir Ivor. This also brings together lines of Plucky Liege's sons Bull Dog, Sir Gallahad III and Admiral's Drake.
Zabeel's son Savabeel adds Dancing Champ, 3/4 brother to Shareef Dancer. Dancing Champ by Northern Dancer's son Nijinsky II out of Mrs Peterkin. Shareef Dancer by Northern Dancer out of Mrs Peterkin's daughter Sweet Alliance.
Mrs Peterkin is by Tom Fool, he by Menow out of a daughter of Bull Dog. Nijinsky II also carries Bull Dog as well as Menow (granddam sire).

I don't think the stud owners have a lot of mares. They bought a few at the Broodmares sale but still not a lot.

"The impact of Dubawi’s three seasons at stud in Australia has been outstanding with the Hong Kong champion http://www.racingandsports.com.au/horse/akeed-mofeed-599973" rel="nofollow">Akeed Mofeed the latest of his sons making a promising start to his stud career. The first Akeed Mofeed weanling to be offered at public auction resulted in an outstanding sales debut for the foundation sire at South Australia’s Goldin Farms. Offered in the platinum session of the Great Southern Sale in Melbourne, the colt was bought by NSW bloodstock identity Tony Clift for $120,000, a figure that represents close to eight times the service fee of Akeed Mofeed."

One's been bought by a Chinese sounding name from SA? Might be whats called a buy back.. or... a 'support back' by the HK owner
wont be surprised to see the other lot sell to SA either.. for the same money or a bit more
just so it can give the sire a decent looking 'average' sale price

I thought 309 was the good one, on paper at least. He does seem to have wonky knees, but shadows and angles can play tricks on you.
The other looks pretty rough in the pic, but it's an ordinary pic.

Have always had a sneaking suspicion that Akeed Mofeed (By Dubawi) will be a better Stallion than Darleys Dubawi Poets Voice.
Maybe he will maybe he won't.
Has a couple by prominent trainers today that are in the market so interested to see how they go.

Fifth on debut last month behind Ennis Hill and Encryption in the Group III MRC Chairmans Stakes, Sunset Watch appreciated a drop in grade to maiden class to run out an easy two length winner as favourite.

Classic Assignment for Akeed Mofeed's Assertive Play Mark Smith - Saturday June 30 We are right on the Akeed Mofeed (GB) bandwagon and here is another reason why – his two-year-old daughter Assertive Play kept her record at a perfect two for two when spacing seven overmatched rivals in the $100,000 SABOIS 2-Y-O Plate (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday. A fast-finishing winner over 1050 metres on the same track when on debut back on June 16, Assertive Play was easy in the betting as the money was poured on Tony McEvoy's I Am Invincible debutant, Vietti. Dominic Tourneur gave Assertive Play plenty of time to find her feet with just one horse behind in the early stages. When Tourneur let the reins out a notch, Assertive Play dashed so quickly she had the leaders in her sites turning for home. Despite the daughter of Akeed Mofeed (GB) again lugging in badly down the straight it was a space job, hitting the line four and three-quarter lengths ahead of Exalted Trail (Good Journey) with Bayou (Sepoy) three-quarter of a length back in third.
Winning trainer Phillip Stokes said the Melbourne Spring Carnival was now the aim. "She's still doing a lot wrong. He (Tourneur) took off early got there and she put a space on them," Stokes said "She's an exciting filly and it's great to get another winner for Goldin Farms. "I think she is going to be a horse that will be good enough to go to Melbourne this spring. "The sire, Akeed Mofeed (GB), is doing a fabulous job. These horses will be better and three and four than they are at two. "We will aim her at the classics and see how we go." Assertive Play is the fourth winner from as many to race out of the winning Redoute's Choice mare Aussie Crawl whose dam Freestyle won three stakes races for Stokes including the Group II SAJC Breeders' Stakes. Purchased by Goldin Farms for $130,000 from the Widden Stud draft at the 2014 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale, Aussie Crawl has one more foal, a weanling brother to Assertive Play. Sadly, she died in October last year. Group 1 Hong Kong Cup winner Akeed Mofeed (GB) (pictured ) covered just 32 mares last spring. The son of Dubawi looks sure to be a good deal more popular at Goldin Farms in 2018 at a fee of $16,500.

So laid in most of the race, pulled up lame and still won by 5?
ASSERTIVE PLAY (D. Tourneur) – laid in throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination
revealed the filly to be lame in the off hind leg and minor laceration to the off hind pastern. Trainer
advised a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required prior to presenting the horse for a future
trial or race.

Hello, may I point out, Wonder Why's Sire is Tiger Hill and his damsire is Appiani. He has a familiar ring, his best offspring in Germany and later exported in our part of the world is "Star Appeal". Second, Tiger Hill's damline belongs to the same Family as Carbine,Musket via a very uncommon strain. regards, Ticino

AKEED MOFEED MOVES TO VICTORIA FOR 2019 Goldin Farms and Swettenham Stud are pleased to announce that Akeed Mofeed (Dubawi), a rising star of Australia’s stallion ranks, will relocate to Nagambie to join the Swettenham Stud roster for the 2019 season. Raced and owned by prominent businessman Mr Pan Sutong, Akeed Mofeed won the BMW Hong Kong Derby and the Longines Hong Kong Cup at four and the Centenary Vase at five, along with a Listed Race in Ireland at three. ... The historic Lindsay Park property in Angaston, South Australia was purchased by Mr Pan’s Goldin Farms where Akeed Mofeed has covered 338 mares in his first five seasons at stud. “Lindsay Park was purchased for Akeed Mofeed and he will always have a home at the property. His first season 2yo runners were more precocious and successful than we could have imagined from only 60 live foals,” said Andrew Perryman, General Manager of Goldin Farms. “We anticipate a steep rise in Akeed Mofeed’s visibility and popularity as those horses reach their optimal racing age. Having regard to Victoria’s broodmare pool, stallion availabilities and access to VOBIS, we see it as a positive and progressive move for Akeed Mofeed to be available to breeders in Victoria for the 2019 season.” “Swettenham Stud is ecstatic about the opportunity to stand Akeed Mofeed,” Swettenham’s principal, Adam Sangster said. “He really is a stallion with a huge amount of upside — he was third only to Zoustar and Spirit of Boom in percentage of winners to runners last season when his first 2yo runners hit the track. As the only Dubawi stallion in Australia and as already evidenced on racetracks, his progeny will furnish into much better horses at three and four. It is a wonderful opportunity for us and for Victorian breeders.” Akeed Mofeed currently has 40% winners to runners for the season including the Lindsay Park trained Poised To Strike, the Team Hawkes trained Heart Conquered (Track Record - 1000m Kensington) and Sunset Watch (G3 placed, 3 wins from 6), and the Phillip Stokes trained Assertive Play (undefeated at 2yo). With 11 of Akeed Mofeed’s yearlings available at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale and 17 of his yearlings available at the Magic Millions Adelaide Sale next month, his progeny are certain to attract plenty of attention from trainers and astute judges. Akeed Mofeed will be available for inspection at Swettenham Stud from mid-March and will stand for $16,500 inc GST.

Bigger buying bench should be enough to lift his average to over $60k?
Would think he conveys good prospects if you can set the benchmark profit at $20-25k (assuming a rough as guts $20k for production)... enough to keep the wheel turning, at least.

There's another thread on this stallion.
He's going well despite relatively limited numbers and sold very well in Adelaide this year.

Don't know Oldflight, however after showing early promise he simply hasn't gone on with the job. Served a very small book last year and many of those few mares might have been owned by the HK syndicate that owns him or the services Swettenham might have been entitled to.

135 covers in his first Vic season, down to 34 last year.... as convenient as it sounds, perhaps it's a consequence of the 'Rona?
We would never know what their churn rate is, but Highland Reel (+65) and I Am Immortal (new, 116) must've eaten up a big chunk of his 2019 business. Either way, the farm's customer base have jumped off him awfully quick.

So where will the yearlings from the 135 covers sell?

Hi All, Will sell at what ever sale they can, no system or structured organisational profile or management of this Stallion. Once returned from Swettenam to Goldin Farm, from my attempt to cover two mares to him, it was dysfunctional, different person each time, no on-flow of information, difficult to nail down expectations of how the mare was be produced, delivered, on farm, vanned.
When re-inheriting a resource whether it be of massive value or a value yet to be proven, a consistent position from the owner or representative, is the basic platform on which to develop value or mitigate loss.
These folks have no structured presentation of this basic understanding compared to established Farms, were you get sick of Old Mate calling you.
This could be a reason why persons with a significant external investment in Australian Bloodstock, destroy money from afar.
Now that the CEO / Statesman of Spendthrift has now departed (RIP) - (Massive commitment to the cause)
Watch the scramble to recoup the money spent on the folly in Australia; (remembering each American generation is more insular than the last)
Looking at;
The Farm Suspect under-performing race horses (in oz)
Turning them into Stallions Filly purchases that blow my little mind (cost)
This could all be dust if Vino Rosso and / or Omaha Beach smash it. Both under appreciated in my humble.
But Dirty Work at 19K is were they are really at, moving forward. (thank You W Pike)
Just an Opinion
Ciao For Now Baz

The best of the lot you'd aim at the big boy sales. Plenty will go through Adelaide. Boss man might keep a couple.
