I reckon this guy'll earn the right to his own thread but if not, it'll only add to the already copious quantity of inconsequential threads LOL
MV R4 tomorrow. He's a Waller maiden import who was bottled up the trip in a Sandown mile maiden at his only start, getting clear the last 100m to be beaten .4len.
Same trip, up in class, tighter track but barrier 7 & presently around $7/8 so I'm asking for opinions from the far more enlightened Big smile

Well one of the 3 has already taken place, He has actually got a run. Now he just needs luck in running.

Barwon looks pretty good value. He is 33/1, he won impressively enough first time up from a spell and both placegetters have since won their races.

Looks like a 2400m horse. No early speed but nice turn of foot. Will be odds on next start in a 2000m maiden

Happy to see him in a maiden but should we be concerned about 1600m for the third time in a row? He would be better suited at 2000m but I'm sure we can trust Waller to keep him fresh for this.

Wholeheartedly agree Sunline, he's screaming out for ground but haven't seen the field or track yet. Justine seems to be a whizz at keeping them fresh but each run he's needed a few more metres.

I will be backing him for the first time tomorrow. Gets the right track as well as supposed tempo on paper. They weren't confident last start they are now and should be winning easily.

I would have him a good thing if this was 1800 or 2000

I thought he showed all the signs of wanting more ground last time, but who am I to be doubting Chris Waller

As I suspected, he was a risk kept to 1600m for the third time in a row. Needs further.

I dont think is as good as they think he is, gets so far back but his turn of foot is harfly lightning. He will go around short again next start and may even win but he wont be getting any of mine until he can show he can take a position in a race.

He had all the time in the world to run down the winner after spending nothing in the run and only 4L off them at the turn. I wouldnt be overly confident about him even at a trip.

No, you're right, he's not over the line over 2000m either. But he will meet garbage in a 2000m maiden and, with the likely tempo of a field of horses who can't run the trip and are only there in search of their maiden, he could probably take up a better position and be strong enough in the last furlong to win.

He needs to find a weak 2000m maiden at somewhere like Terang or Colac etc.
Will struggle in city grade

There must have been some happy people counting their money a fair way from home ... the Weir/Rawiller Authorized colt stepping up to 1600m would have start $3 any other day ... he's the one to follow too!
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

2nd again today a Kembla Grange......again over 1600m & again a short price fave.

Hopefully CJW steps this guy up in distance next start. He's clearly a 2200m + horse.

I backed him today. Every chance. He "flashed home" once  a few runs back which made a few look but has since ground to the line every time, in very weak races. You'd have to be an optimist with a good sense of humour to back him until he shows he's more genuine.

I'm with both the above.  He's no star but on face value needs to get over more ground.

Ideal candidate for night racing at the Valley over 3000m, looks like he'll stay all day

All 6 of his runs in the UK were over 2000m+ mostly at 2400m.

All 5 of his runs in Australia have been at 1600m or less.

CJW is a brilliant trainer, but I do hate that we import genuine stayers & the turn them into middle distance horses.

In the 1900m maiden at Canterbury tonight.

I tend not to bet in races where CJ Waller has so many runners, so will let this gelding go around without me this time.......but surely he's close to breaking through for a win.

I think some were concerned about Waller continually running him at a mile, when he was clearly looking for 2000 plus
