Very solid run from the back on a testing track. Hope he pulls up well. They didn't miss him in the betting contrary to Weir's personal thoiughts.

Weiry was 100% on te money , punters weren't . I had a small interest bet just in case , and maybe just maybe if he saved a little ground he nearly wins but bloody hell that was an ennormois effort considering injury , time off and fitness

Yes he was carrying a bit of condition, as you'd expect after a long layoff with injury.

Some mention of him possibly going to the PB Lawrence on the 18th next.

Would love to see that , also heard maybe they'll push honour to 1600 next start also but I'd really like to see what he would do in a G2 race . At lot of good horses embarked to start in that race such as Grunt and a few others

Glancing through the Cox plate nominations I see this fellow is nominated . Weiry must like him a lot.

Grunt and Mighty Boss are headed to the PB Lawrence, possibly Hartnell also.  Looks too rich for PC.

Cox Plate is a pipe dream (fair enough). He'd need to jump out of the ground to get an invite.

Interesting breeding fact. The only other two horses by Mamool to race in Australia were placed at 3200m. Lucas Cranach in Melbourne Cup and Ormito in Adelaide Cup. Is PC a Cups horse?

Next start likely to be an open handicap over 1600m at Caulfield 18th August if he can make it into the field, as there is an increased number of handy horses back now for the Spring with higher benchmark ratings than his. He pulled up knowing he had had a run at Mildura. Still needs to gain core fitness back. Stable commented maybe take another run or two. No swelling detected from the tendon injury is a great sign.

At this stage, they are just looking to snare black type. Trainers/owners usually still put their hand up for the 1st noms for big races just in case their horse miraculously grows another leg leading up the big event.

He's a bit too brilliant over the shorter courses than the cups. Personally if think 1600m with speed on would be his best course. May stretch to 2000m if Weiry can work his magic. Just a personal opinion.
I'm sure the trainer will let the horse do the speaking and we will find out in due course.
I have noticed that his dam has had a foal to Protectionist.

Monday's (13th) work over 800m from Plein Ciel was ok but maybe a little bit flat. See video. He is on the outside. He's going to Caulfield Saturday over 1600m. His last win (at Sandown) was his first at open company at a 'weak' time of the year. He carried 52.5kg that day. He goes up a sharp 5.5kg from winning that day to 58kg this Saturday. mmmmm... He will benefit even more following this run.

I tried to find out but with no success.
May have been Kenjorwood. Stablemate in the same race.
It was a wet track which Kenjorwood likes but Plein Ciel prefers dry.
Looks like rain for Saturday.

Thanks. Looked to have the better of the gallop whoever it was. Jockey said Kenjorwood was ready after his last run iirc but I don't like him tomorrow.

Happy to be wrong, but still think he will better for the run.

Great win by the German today.

Not sure what distance connections plan to stretch him out to, but he seems to love Caulfield, so a race like the Coongy Hcp may be within his scope.

Yes good win, great ride. Had run of the race. (fantastic run by Yogi too). Will improve fitness wise again. Glad the rain held off.
Will be weighted up to his best in this company now, so next race most likely Saturday week Caulfield again, but this time will be Black type over 1700m. Tendon holding up well.

He seems to like every track so far. Not sure if The Valley would suit though !

I didn't think he'd win either but he's a class horse . To win like that after 14 mths off with a tendon injury is remarkable . Superb effort by team Weir and a class horse
