What she said was actually :

"There is still a generation of people, or older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die..."  (for entrenched racist culture to change)

She never said 'white people' at all.   She never said they have to be killed.  She said the racist generation will need to die out before there can be an end to the culture of racism.

I completely agree with her and her comments are equally relevant to Australia.  In the context of social change there is only so much that can be achieved by people changing their attitudes and values.  Cultural change is only completed generationally.

I never said anything about the video.

I do not have an agenda.

I never said there was a problem.

Plenty of assumptions made by you mate.

My apologies, I did not realise you posted it simply as a video of interest, with no intention of implying that she called for whites to be killed, silly me Embarrassed

Basic psychology does not change, despite generational change. Anyone who thinks the fabric of social "progress" can't unravel with alarming speed, isn't sufficiently familiar with history. Our time is no different.

She doesn't seem to have a problem with "Whitie" ...being a hypocrite should not adversely affect any political aspirations!

She's just another typical advocate of the #MeTooWhatWasTheQuestion?Embarrassed campaign.

Oprah’s relationship with Weinstein highlighted amid presidential rumours

OPRAH Winfrey’s potential presidential bid could be hampered by her cozy relationship with one Hollywood’s worst offenders.

OPRAH Winfrey has won well-deserved praise for her rousing speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

It’s even sparked reports that she is “actively considering” a run for the US presidency in 2020.

But her potential candidacy and her status as a #MeToo champion could be hampered by the cosy relationship she has had with the man whose heinous behaviour sparked the whole movement: Harvey Weinstein.

Media outlets — especially right-wing ones — have resurfaced pictures that Winfrey would probably prefer stay hidden of her palling around with the disgraced Hollywood producer, who has been accused of sexually harassing or abusing more than 80 women.

Winfrey and Weinstein have had a professional relationship that stretches back two decades. There are many photographs of her kissing and hugging the mogul at awards ceremonies and events sponsored by The Weinstein Company. She has starred in and produced movies that his company distributed, including The Butlerand The Great Debaters.

In fact, an aspiring actor who alleges that Weinstein forced himself on her in hotel room in Cannes in 2014 said he used his relationship with Winfrey to groom her.

I am sure there are heaps of photos of right wing fruitloops from FoxNews who are cannoodling up to Weinstein before the news broke of his trashy life.

Oprah is a fruit loop. You only need have watched her show a few times to know that. But fruit loops are mainstream in the good old U S of A, so maybe ... Stern Smile

In Oprah's world, vaccines don't prevent children from suffering, they cause autism. In Oprah's world, you can cure cancer with happy thoughts. In Oprah's world, Suzanne Somers and Jenny McCarthy are medical experts. In Oprah's world, Rhonda Byrne and Marianne Williamson are philosophers. In Oprah's world, injecting hormones will keep you forever young. In Oprah's world, the HPV vaccine kills people. In Oprah's world, cancer-causing sexually transmitted diseases can be prevented by eating healthy foods. In Oprah's world, thyroid dysfunction is an energy blockage caused by "a lifetime of 'swallowing' words one is aching to say." In Oprah's world, if you're hypothyroid you should take iodine supplements and drink soy milk. In Oprah's world, all you need for a quick face-lift without having to worry about side-effects is a needle and thread, or radio waves. In Oprah's world, psychics who claim to get messages from the dead are not exploiting grieving people, they are helping them through the grieving process. In Oprah's world, feelings always trump reason, intuition always trumps science, and hope always trumps fact. In Oprah's world, wishful thinking is considered science. In Oprah's world, if you want to be thin and healthy, all you have to do is hang around thin, healthy people. If that doesn't work, and it obviously doesn't, try regular exercise and eating sensibly. If that doesn't work, sit on the couch and watch Oprah. Wait until she brings on an expert who will explain why her world of magical thinking is so appealing to millions of her fans. You may not end up healthy, but I guarantee that you will end up very thin.

http://skepdic.com/skeptimedia/skeptimedia50.html

Oprah says things like this without irony. But really, how could it not go to her head, even a little? Her most ardent fans regard her as an oracle. If she mentions the title of a book, it goes to No. 1. If she says she uses a particular wrinkle cream, it sells out. At Oprah's retail store in Chicago, women can purchase used shoes and outfits that she wore on the show. Her viewers follow her guidance because they like and admire her, sure. But also because they believe that Oprah, with her billions and her Rolodex of experts, doesn't have to settle for second best. If she says something is good, it must be.

This is where things get tricky. Because the truth is, some of what Oprah promotes isn't good, and a lot of the advice her guests dispense on the show is just bad. The Suzanne Somers episode wasn't an oddball occurrence. This kind of thing happens again and again on Oprah. Some of the many experts who cross her stage offer interesting and useful information (props to you, Dr. Oz). Others gush nonsense. Oprah, who holds up her guests as prophets, can't seem to tell the difference. She has the power to summon the most learned authorities on any subject; who would refuse her? Instead, all too often Oprah winds up putting herself and her trusting audience in the hands of celebrity authors and pop-science artists pitching wonder cures and miracle treatments that are questionable or flat-out wrong, and sometimes dangerous.

djebel, every "celebrity" - and they are ALL devoted Trump haters - has said they were either aware, or not surprised about Harvey ... these are the same people who stand and applaud (with tears in their eyes) when the convicted Child Molester - Roman Polanski - received his Oscar ... and that wasn't even a secret.

Tlaz, last year shows that being a fruit-loop, a gangster, a serial molester, a  philander or a pathological liar is no impediment to becoming President

Or is that only for Republicans?

AMericans seem mainly to be entranced by show business people, to the exclusion of others. A bit like Australians over-identifying with sports people.

Keep it in the right thread CNNPT.

This thread is about the black female pedophilia victim ... not that you would discriminate.

Speaking of her “most ardent fans” I happened to catch a bit of one of those episodes where she gives stuff away. Not sure how it happened, just wrong place at the wrong time I guess- in the same way you might hear a Bruno Mars song, or say, contract gastroenteritis.

Anyway the sight of these people in frenzied delirium whilst being dispensed baubles by their queen (say a Burberry scarf) was one of the more depressing few minutes of my life.

Well, one would hope that there are less nutty Democrat voters than nutty Republican voters, that Democrat voters are more rational than Republican voters, so less inclined to vote for a massively unqualified dipstick than Republicans are, but it's probably a vain hope.

It seems like there is a good deal of dying that needs to happen before Ms Winfrey would be considered a presidential candidate, and she knows it.

Now, who would like to go first ?
