(Lleyton Hewitt has declared Bernard Tomic attempted to blackmail him and made physical threats against him and his family, saying he would never play Davis Cup again while he was captain.)

Two of the many things I could not care less about are the Davis Cup in its present format and Bernard Tomic. I might generate some enthusiasm for the new Davis Cup format but not if Tomic is playing because then I will know we are hopeless.

Hewitt said that Tomic wont play Davis Cup while he(Hewitt) is involved.

Puzzling PT to say the least. It is one thing to have differences of opinions but when Criminal allegations are made , It's a whole new ball game. Hewitt had better be able to back up = Blackmail & Threats to himself & family. |

Boot both of them. Neither good ambassadors imo. At least Hewitt had ticker i suppose. Think Hewitt needs to have a break from the game altogether - almost as if he cant let go. Maybe come back in a few years when the players who he was on the circuit with are gone. All sounds a bit "close" to me - judgements clouded

If Hewitt had done something that would be so embarrassing that Tomic would threaten to actually blackmail him, would Hewitt be blurting it out as he will now be asked about it? Can't be too bad.

I wouldn’t waste my time picking any of that trio again.
In fairness, at least they’ve made an early call on their careers. $1m a year to be ranked in the 50-150 range. Take turns being bottom bunk to an Arab venture capitalist to hang out on a yacht & live the high life. TA should make a similarly finite call & pick only those players that they can build a team with. It’s the only form of the game where the off-court support is ‘in play’. It’s no place for those that can’t take instruction. |
