Well with respect to Rosscoe reckon the dosage file is more miler/middle distance.

The pedigree of Rock Cathedral definitely reflects stamina in my view!

The stoutness / dourness of the dam puts it into the middle distance / staying category combined with Occy.

Dosage should only be used as a guide!

Probably a very good call Runfer!

Having checked the progeny that have raced so far from Church On Sunday there does appear to be speed from other family members. Halo Halo (by Lonhro) and Happy Gladiator, as mentioned previously 7 straight wins (by Viscount) performing very well over sprinting trips!

Looking at RC's 4 gen. ped. my thoughts are that there are a couple of major influences missing in the Dosage equation.

Firstly Octagonal,  although a great classic horse himself, is not necessarily an influence for out and out stamina, passing on the speedier influence of his dam, Eight Carat.

Now in Dosage-speak, let's take on board that Eight Carat contributes zero points to O's progeny, which is an anomaly. All the points to O's progeny come through Zabeel.

There are 2 ways of looking at this - one is to classify Eight Carat (as an Intermediate influence) or secondly, recognise that that her (Intermediate) influence may be a direct result of her grand sires, the very important "non-chefs" Relic & Klairon, and to recognise their influence as something like B/I & I respectively.

Then there is the undoubted influence of the great stallion Sunday Silence, which also needs attention. He is most likely best described as a Classic influence (I think).

Then within 4 gens, there is also a major stallion in Green Dancer not contributing any points to RC's DP. Green Dancer was mainly a stamina influence , but maybe not entirely so - a classic winner at 1600m by the way.

That said, there is no doubting that RC's grand-dam the very good mare Will Fly is the catalyst for speed in the family.

Happy Gladiator is inbred to Green Dancer BTW.

I do have a bit of first hand knowledge about this outfit & wish you well.

Church on Sunday's yearling colt by Lonhro was a great type but with x-ray issues or otherwise he would have topped the Classic Sale by a wide margin, IMO.

Good luck.

What a nice change to get feed back when it's become available Thumbs Up. I'm sure the contributors will be more than appreciative. Congrats with your mare & hopefully she'll be given a chance at more suitable distances next prep Smile
