It is indeed a reflection of the state of the (Dosage) nation in USA that Nyquist's Dosage Profile reads out as:

DP: 1-2-1-0-0

for a DI of 7.00.

while totally overlooking the aptitudinal influence of such leading sires as Storm Cat, Storm Bird, Arch, Kris S, Seeking the Gold & Dixieland Band within his first 4 generations.

Not sure if you have read this as yet, John, but it probably says a lot.

And since John was recently on-line, will Dosage/Chefs be continued down-under?

Yes to Progold even in its own small way. There will be further additions to the A-NZ Keysires List in the coming months for those interested. Keeping that list reasonably up to date once stallions have second generation influence has always been my style.

Dosage, like Dr Who, has undergone several significant changes of direction in its history but I believe still remains a useful way of interpreting pedigree influences, once understood.

Dosage & Chef-de-Race classifications will continue under Steve Miller & who knows it may be the change needed, notwithstanding the Genetic DNA science thingy now available.

We all owe Dr Roman a big thank you for his work on dosage, and the development of his mathematical formula.  It has no doubt been a very important tool for understanding the thoroughbred.  It is probably fair to say that Dr Roman's view was based on his own mathematical skills, and distance aptitude was central to his model.  My thanks will always go to John H who reminded me of the importance of developmental issues within the dosage framework as a more traditional and enduring model.

With Dr Roman's retirement, it is probably an opportunity to update a few influences, especially the overseas ones that weren't necessarily that critical to Dr Roman's model, but are probably important in our understanding.

A reminder that a list of all of John's ANZ chefs are online at www.dosageprofile.com, and I have no doubt that there will be some updates to these coming in the not too distant future.

Are there going to be any more article updates on the site?
As the last was in October 2014 and they are interesting and informative reading.  Thank you Smile
