This is getting really bad, thoughts with anyone just south of us at Murwillumbah/Lismore etc. Think they have severly underestimated this storm. Going to be bad sights at first light! Amazing satellite images show the eye of Debbie reformed

There is no such thing as normal weather anymore in NSW. The extremities are far more extreme and far more frequent.
Ridiculous heat, ridiculous rainfall. I wish there was an explanation for it all, all these records continuously being smashed. Oh well, guess there isn't. Hatch tells us farmers say its always been like this...

Thanks Dizzy. This is a huge event The benchmarks for floods on the Northern Rivers were the 1954 and 1974 cyclone events This one has surpassed both according to the BOM

We were lucky here in Brunswick Valley only getting from 450-750mm of rain last night Tweed and Wilson catchments got up to 950mm

The next high is at 12:12AM tonight and is predicted to be a fraction higher than this high

Yes, the rain has stopped but water is still lying about. They think there could be more evacuations later tonight.

Reports of 2 bodies found and several more people missing in the Murwillumbah-Tweed area

To be fair that image from CNN which is of course ridiculous (but not surprising for some US knowledge of the rest of the world) is from 2011.
