OLYMPIC great Nova Peris AOM has swapped the hockey field for a new role with Melbourne Water.
The former Hockeyroos star and gold medallist was this year appointed principal adviser for Aboriginal engagement with Melbourne Water in a bid to bridge the gap and understand relationships between the city’s waterways and indigenous peoples. :shy: :shy: :shy: :shy:
She also recently appeared in Adam Goodes’ shocking documentary, The Australian Dream and hopes her new role will build better relationships.
“We know that all Aboriginal people have cultural connections (with waterways),” she said.
“And we need to work in a good partnership when it comes to how Melbourne water does its business around the water and creeks.”

Peris, in a previous life , was the woman who was elected to the Australian Senate at the 2013 federal election, after then Prime Minister Julia Gillard named her as a "captain's pick". She retired from the Senate in 2016.

Was wondering why Bob targeted Peris. Initially though because she is a woman, but he hasn't mentioned Julie Bishop whose remuneration makes Peris look like petty cash.

I wonder what the reason is, maybe he doesn't like athletes Confused

And so it goes on:

Liberals Dole Out Jobs For The Boys Before The Next Federal Election Is Called

Nice work if you can get it.

On Friday Tasmanian Liberal senator David Bushby announced he was quitting federal politics. Bushby is the chief government whip in the Senate and isn't up for re-election until 2022, so his decision to leave parliament early was a surprise.

Less than an hour later, the government announced that Bushby will become Australia’s next consul-general in Chicago. A highly-paid overseas posting that comes with lots of perks and little public scrutiny.  Bushby is the latest in a line of Liberals to land a plumb position on the taxpayer dime.

Former Liberal minister Nick Minchin was appointed to the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) on Dec. 7, 2018, a day after parliament rose for the year.

Minchin was Liberal senator for South Australia from 1993 to 2011, serving as finance minister and industry, science and resources minister in the Howard government.

Jobs minister Kelly O'Dwyer appointed six new people to the Fair Work Commission on 6 December 2018.  The majority of tribunal member are now Coalition appointments with backgrounds of either working for employer groups or as lawyers representing employers.

Julie Bishop & Christopher Pyne are no different from the re-invented Nova Peris, who are all on the gravy train and have used their political careers to further their own personal interests. My beef is more about ALL ex politicians , regardless of what political party they have represented, getting jobs for the boys or girls.
Can anyone explain to me what her job as principal adviser for Aboriginal engagement with Melbourne Water in a bid to bridge the gap and understand relationships between the city’s waterways and indigenous peoples entails / means and why my water rates in Melbourne are hosting a public Aboriginal art exhibition, Yaluk Biik Baan, meaning 'River Land Water' in Woi wurrung language to help celebrate the International Year of Indigenous Languages.

I would have preferred a Wurundjeri or some other local got the job.   Peris is from Darwin.

I have no problem with the art exhibition.... except that it ends tomorrow before I have had a chance to see it.

Melbourne Water is in my good books too.  They have recently completed a project to 'daylight' a half a mile of the Dandenong Creek that was buried underground by the Board of Works.  Good work.  The ducks love it. Me too.
