Owners of Maximum Security have filed suit in the Federal Courtto overturn his disqualification in the KD.

“The insubstantiality of the evidence relied on by the stewards to disqualify Maximum Security, and the bizarre and unconstitutional process to which the Plaintiffs were subjected before and after the disqualification, are the subjects of this action,” a lawyer for the Wests contended in the complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Just to keep this in perspective...

This saga may not end very quickly at all now that litigation has started.
The owner of Dancer's Image, disqualified winner of the 1968 Kentucky Derby after testing positive for phenylbutazone (Bute), owner Peter Fuller unsuccessfully tried to exonerate his horse between May 1968 and April 1973.

Sit back now and get comfortable that the West's will need be ready to have this claim draw out.

It the race prior to the Preakness Stakes, the GII Dixie Stakes (~1,700m turf) was won by the very, very good Catholic Boy.

He was challenged by the Oz bred Paret (40/1) for the lead early but was no challenge as the race went on. I understand why someone would try and make a buck on him (getting rid of him) but if this is the best OZ can offer, graded stakes events in the US is no place for him to get his feet wet after two months.

It is surprising that they would challenge for the lead with him. In Australia, he would always settle with the backmarkers until the home turn & rattle home. Also surprising that he would be racing over 1700m and, as you mentioned, be competing in a Grade 2 when he was a BM83 horse back here.

Yep close to the mark Grey Affair, imo limited backmarker in restricted company here who bled ( I think) and graded out of his depth, ridden against his pattern and finished where he should have.

When I was at Oaklawn Park for the Rebel Stakes meeting in March I arrived to the track for the 5th race. That was a maiden which was really impressively won by Warriors Charge (7/5 fav) by about 6 lengths. I had him in my black book knowing full well that he would progress. I unfortunately missed him due to my workload this April in his next start which was an Allowance race which also won quite nicely.

His inaugural run in a graded stakes run (G1 Preakness) was commendable trying to lead and only in deep stretch over taken by Everfast and Owendale.

Very nice type who I think will win in graded company. He's not being pointed for the G1 Belmont Stakes in three weeks but I reckon if he drops back to a mile in the summer (maybe at Saratoga) watch out!

Gentlemen, fair comments! As we know in the past OZ bleeders have made it the US in the past. Some have made decent careers with the aid of Lasix. There is pressure here in the US to forego same day Lasix medication and beginning in 2020 2YOs will not be allowed to have it,

Dust is starting to settle after the Middle Leg of the Triple Crown. Some of the runners will be poised to run in the G1 Belmont Stakes in three Saturdays from now.

Preakness winner War of Will is a likely to show up. Also the two fast finishing placegetters from The Preakness in Everfast and Owendale. Also Laughing Fox who ran on from last to finish 5th.

Kentucky Derby runners who skipped the Preakness include 3rd place Tacitus, Game Winner, Japanese bred Master Fencer and UAE Derby winner Plus Que Parfait and Tax.

Others targetting the event are all three placegetters from the Belmont Park prep race the G2 Peter Pan - Global Campaign, Sir Winston, Intrepid Heart.

The OZ bred Oleksandra (Animal Kingdom - Alexandra Rose by Caesour) won her third start in the US in a 6f turf Allowance at Blemont Park in the nifty time of 1:07.80 coming from dead last to

She won her maiden last year at Santa Anita. Earlier this year she won an allowance also at Santa Anita before having a 4 month spell and shipping to the East Coast.

She showed promise in NSW as a maiden but has really started to improve here in the US. Would like to see her in a mile race on the turf.

A fantastic three days of racing accompanying the G1 Belmont Stakes in the New York area this coming weekend.

Nonetheless, Saturday now has eight Grade 1 races which really puts NYRA with Belmont Park on the forefront now in the USA. 1 1/4mile turf Manhattan Handicap with excellent stakes offered.

We will also have invaders for Europe for these races as simply the offering is too much not consider such a challenge!

There is a very slight chance of rain. 5%

The track is going to be fast and I don't think any of the turf races will be moved.

Friday's rendition of the G1 Belmont Gold Cup over 2 miles was won by the Irish bred Amade in 3:19.95.

It was his third try on turf in a 13-race career. The bulk of his starts have come on all-weather surfaces, though after his first graded or group stakes win, French trainer Alessandro Botti said Australia's world-famous G1 Lexus Melbourne Cup  at two miles on turf in November is now the long-range goal for the son of Casamento.

You have to like Master Fencer's chances with Laparoux aboard. Good value play with Tacitus though the odds on the entire field indicate a toss up race. I like Tacitus because of the connections. It is definitely a thinking man's tactical race historically full of surprises.

2 more fatalities at Santa Anita on the weekend.

The California Horse Racing Board has recommended the track suspend the remaining days of its meeting which is set to end on June 23 but Santa Anita management has chosen to continue racing.

DQ winner of the G1 Kentucky Derby Maximum Security returns to the track this weekend in the Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park, New Jersey in a six horse field where he is the 1/2on morning line favourite.

Might have to take a trip on Father's Day done to this track which I haven't been to in a while.

Just got back from Monmouth Park and saw the race live. Muggy Jersey Shore Day but a crowd of 24,000+ showed up.

Maximum Security started 1/20on stumbled at the start and then got to the front but was chased hard by King For A Day (6/1). In the straight the Maximum Security looked a bit short and the it seemed that they jockey just rode him out.

Definitely condition....

7 weeks break since the KDerby is not that long but the horse had a break for several weeks.

This is the after race comments from Trainer and Jockey:

"I think the stumble cost me the race," said Servis, who did not make a final decision to run Maximum Security until shortly before the June 14 post position draw. "I think his next race will be better."

"He hasn't run for a while so he was a little desperate in the gate," jockey Luis Saez said about Maximum Security. "He wanted to break so he broke so fast he stumbled. He was all right after that but I sensed he was getting a little tired in the final half-mile. When we came to the half-mile pole, I asked for a little more but he got a little tired when I asked him to keep going. In the end he was a little tired. I'm not disappointed. Definitely not. He will be OK. I think he needed the race. This is horse racing. Anything can happen. He's a real good horse. That hasn't changed. I think the next time he will be OK."

Folks who took 1/20on would not be happy that they bet the horse on hype and not reality.
