One dimensional jock. When horses can swoop, he looks good. I wouldn't say he is overrated, not sure who rates him that highly.

I guess the trainers who continue to put him on?

I agree with your assessment BTW. I just potted him on the fave at Caulfield and he did not let me down, which prompted me to start this thread.

He loves a swooper, that's about it.

I can't think of him winning key races on front runners (I'm sure he has but nothing springs to mind).

Haha don't stop there, what about the ride on Fawkner LMAO.  Or when he amazingly secured the ride on that Japanese horse and got it beat in the QE. He is a piece of work, but I have him in the quad in the next at Caulfield so fingers crossed lol.

This

x2

Think he rides Flemington well when it isn't leader biased. Like any jockey he rides some gems and throws in some shockers. The great jockeys show more initiative and maker fewer mistakes but they all stuff up. Certainly don't he is over rated for the same reason as Subastral gave

He used to be the regular rider for under the louvre. Which he done a good job on. Swooper and udl made him look good..when he got suspended i didn't thind udl would win after that. But zahra does a good job on him. But he's definitely a jockey that plays for luck that's for sure, which can be really painful....I'd say steven arnold is more over rated imho

steven arnold hands down.

never could understand why he got so many wraps. his default setting as a jockey was to be out the back, missing the boat and not in the race on just about everything.

Cmon Gay, they don't call him Nick 'Nana Nap' Hall for nothing. Bloke just gets far too back and has the audacity to sit wide while he's doing it! Just an awful jock.

Either he thinks every horse he is on is Phar Lap and has the physical ability to make long and sustained swooping runs from a mile back or he has another bank account and is laughing at punters.

My point exactly, gets back and sits wide all the time, making little effort to find cover. Either he is just plain dumb or he is deliberately getting them beat, and more over, how could you possibly put him on one of yours?

Must be just a top bloke or maybe because his old man has so many connections? I guess that's why he gets the rides on the Williams' horses.

I was just thinking that!

Like Chappelli, who Kerry gave a "contract for life" at Ch9, as reward for his support of World Series Cricket ... you couldn't imagine them persevering with his commentary for so long otherwiseDead.

Maybe Lloyd gave Greg a similar "contract" which has become a birthright for his offspring as well ...

In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

From memory his post race interview after winning the Caulfield Cup gave me the impression he's a bit of a flog. Pretty sure he gets to ride Lloyds horses as he is Lloyds godson.

Nick comes across as arrogant and a bit up himself on the TV, but having met him when he rode one of my horses, he was actually nothing like I imagined him to be like. He was well spoken and rode to instructions.

Quite possibly but as punters/viewers we only get to see how jockeys/trainers presents himself on TV usually so you have to excuse people if that's how they determine what somebody is like.
