This has to be one of the biggest goes in a stakes race with so many chances that I've ever seen.

Into $2.65! Has to be approaching layable odds.

I took $5.50 yesterday on IASBet and very happy about now.
Also on with Betty at the same price plus $5 for a smaller amount, so likely to make my profit early there.

The Hawkes camp is flying lately. Wet track to suit the Mossman breed too.

Follow the market. It is on fire at the moment. That was biggest go I've seen in a big race.

Nice win again today, though possibly assisted by the rain. Clearly in the top 4 or 5 Slipper hopes for mine.

Would love to hear pols thoughts?? Was a very dominate win for mine against quality opposition... Is she a genuine chance in the Slipper or just a great wet tracker???

Love the family - A Little Kiss, Brave Warrior, Shamekha.

I am sure there is a major international winner that I just can not think of ?

Maybe in Japan ?

Wet tracker for me until she beats quality opposition on firm ground. If the next two runs are wet, then get on as she'll win the Reisling / GS no problems on a wet surface.

I suspect this is not completely bad form ? Smart time, good track.

If weight of money is any guide , she has been backed to the exception of everything in all 3 races , always a guide to ability in a stable like Hawkes's .

Has run 3 very solid figures with me, all within half a length of each other and all on different surfaces, she is a threat to Earthquake in the Slipper no doubt, although I do feel Earthquake has more scope.

Yeah to be backed like that against good types like risen from doubt and unencumbered, and then to win so professionally, must point to something special. I don't think it was just the wet track flattering him, but then a couple of his opposition may have needed the run and didn't finish off, so the margin may be flattering. Press Report was finishing better than the other highly rated ones so I'd expect better from them next time out.

Sorry, wrong copy and paste!

Autumn over for Mossfun

Darryl Sherer - 6/04/2014
The Autumn is over for Saturday’s Golden Slipper Stakes winner Mossfun and the filly will be sent to the spelling paddock.

Michael Hawkes, who trains Mossfun in partnership with father John and brother Wayne, confirmed on Sunday morning that the daughter of Mossman is to have a break.

"She’s done a big job and it’s been a tough first preparation so she is off to the paddock,” Hawkes said on Radio RSN.

Mossfun made her debut when winning the Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick on December 14 and has virtually been in the stable since.

"Sprinting looks to be her game but she’s earned a spell. She’s only had a couple of little freshen ups through this prep so she’ll enjoy a break now.” Hawkes said.

That's good news Sunline. Don't push her over the edge like some trainers do.

I agree. I saw her in the flesh for the first time yesterday and she isn't a big strong filly like Earthquake. She's more athletic pocket rocket and will benefit greatly from a break and the opportunity to grow into a 3yo without being bottomed out.

Mossfun Hit By Virus Setback

Golden Slipper winner Mossfun is reported to have been struck down by a virus, placing a cloud over her spring carnival program.

Trainer John Hawkes has confirmed that Mossfun will be on the easy list for at least two weeks to give her the chance to recover from the virus.

Mossfun Horseform had trialled strongly in a jump out in Melbourne at the start of the month before Hawkes transferred the filly back to his Sydney stable.

It now appears to have been an ill-timed decision as the filly is believed to be the victim of a virus that has hit Sydney stables.

http://www.racingandsports.com.au/en/racing/mossfun-hit-by-virus-setback-story-309550

The set back has ended plans for Mossfun to resume against arch rival Earthquake in the Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick on August 23.

However Hawkes, who trains Mossfun in partnership with his sons Michael and Wayne, is hoping a quick recovery will enable the filly to resume full training in time to race later in the spring.

Wayne Hawkes said it was only going to have one or two runs in Spring anyway.

It was going to be set for the Sydney autumn even before this set back.
