Not the best of news:

Money Maher Horse Report

While Money Maher hasn't shown any signs of soreness since his race and trotted up
sound yesterday morning and this morning, we have had concerns about some swelling
that developed at the bottom of his near-side fore leg yesterday. We decided to have his
leg scanned this morning and, whilst we had hoped the swelling was just the result of a
knock in running, unfortunately the scan has shown that the gelding has strained another
suspensory ligament.

We are absolutely gutted by this news as he had made such a successful comeback to racing following a long recovery process after his injury last year, however, we are somewhat buoyed by the fact that his suspensory injury this time around is nowhere near as bad as his last. It is on the opposite leg to last year's strain and the suspensory branch is in much better shape so, while he isgoing to need another lengthy lay-off which will most likely rule him out of racing until the new year, he won't need a full 12 months away from the racetrack like he did last time and there is a good prognosis of
another successful comeback.

We are especially grateful that Money Maher was able to win first-up from his lengthy break on May 5 now and feel that the fact he is still only a four-year-old is a major positive.  We remain upbeat that his suspensory injury this time around isn't as bad as his last, so another successful return is definitely achievable, and we will notify you of his next movements once a plan of attack has been made for him!

Thank you.

Regards,

Pearce Racing

At least it was caught early before too much damage which minimizes some of the bad luck.

All the best for the future.
