Of course they will pt.
but they will do it inclusively, not with the wholesale job losses labor would have made. |

Why change anything or spend any money if climate change is a fraud and is not real? That is just dumb isn't it?

I do not like to blow my own trumpet, but I seem to remember a poster on here saying take the odds for the Libs
And if you piled up for another minority government double it is your shout for the champagne and lobster! I hope that the Labor party do realise something from this disaster. Your leader can not be a died in the woll unionist, unless they have a image like Hawke, and after Rudd you can not have a diplomat as a leader either. Like him or loathe him, Albanese has had the parliament and senate experience. As has been stated Bill was given a cushy seat after his union career. This top end of town bulls$#t is just so stupid and illogical, and you want to know why, because most Australians want to be included in the big end of town, and so they aspire to that position in society. Unlike the Libs prefer3ence deal with dodgy clive, which gave them a huge kick in Queensland (seriously the voters there and in Barnaby's electorate, must be all adulterers and immoral Australians), the Labor/Greens preferences are never going to give the Labor party a huge kick, especially in the regional rural areas. Congrats to everyone who grabed the odds, (personally I took $7.00 and $9.00) for a good collect |

I'm sure they will but instead of spending vast amounts of lowering emissions, I hope they'll address ways in which to work with climate change (this post probably should be in the 'CC' thread but the comment was here )

Very comprehensive Voyager, if misguided.
Because in reality the result was essentially down to personality politics, full stop.

In that case, ScoMo will hand the Prime Ministership over to Joshie in about 9 or so years. How was Insiders today ... entertaining I would think! Can't wait to watch Q&A tomorrow night!

I am a bit perturbed about all the months/days we spent arguing the toss with Rusty about the impact of changing the rules for franking credits & property investment. Now we will never know who was right. Anyway - whats the old saying - "all's well that ends well" !

If you compare Shortens campaign to the one that Hawke mustered in 83, you can see that a generation of Labor has forgotten what that group did to win not just that election but the next four. They learned from Whitlam's mistakes, and also attacked the Fraser governments inability to move out of the economic issues of the mid to late 70's, when Howard was the treasurer, that was one reason why Howard took 13 years to recover. They did not try any new aged political bulls#@t until the 87 election, when they grabbed the environmental vote. Hawke had a similar career in the unions, but at a more senior level, than Shorten, but even the unions are wary of Shorten's leadership, because of his differences to Hawke. Scott Morrison does not have enough of a personality himself, for this to have been a personality choice. It is not like we had a Donald trump taking on Hilary. Whatever you say about the don, he has a personality. But ultimately the two things that went against Labor, were the lies from Shorten, no I have never met that man we just dis-endorsed, and you can't trust Morrison because he knived Turnbull in the back, well sorry to say Bill but Morrison only put his name forward, after Turnbull called the spill, along with Julie and Peter. Every politician lies and exaggerates the truth of an issue, but Shorten was too politically inexperienced, to take on the Liberals and there actual flaws, but he had to make things up and concentrate on issues which were irrelevant. I do not think Albanese is a better leader per say, but at least he will not come with the union baggage and hopefully for the Labor party he sees the flaws in this campaign and comes up with a better strategy, that is if the party removes Bill as leader. |

I think Albanese is Labors hope ... He presents as a genuine Man , free of the baggage too many of that Senior labor group carry. he could re establish them very quickly . A likeable man helps.
Terrible Tanya would be a total disaster. ( less said the better ) On the surface the party is one big mess ATM & surely they have learnt you can't destroy to look good for a brief period . To even dream of phasing out our largest export is enough to do what the Country did yesterday. buried them. |

I think it's a bit like the USA and the Dems problem going forward ... they just have left wing nutters or women who are left wing nutters. They will all be cannon fodder for ... THE MESSIAH FROM THE SHIRE!!! |

Labor has a problem re Tanya. They criticised Libs for overlooking their female deputy 3 times to install another man each time and most of the Libs female talent deserted them pre election because of their attitude. Can Labor credibly overlook Tanya, should she nominate, and do the same thing they bagged Libs for, elect a man? While Albo would be the counter to Morrison on style, how long could Australia cop dueling bogans in leadership? Maybe better to go to someone new altogether. Depends of course who nominates. Only one certain and 2 likely so far.

Pliebersek is no hope because Australia is too redneck and sexist for a female PM at this stage of of our development. We like ugly men, like Scomo. Albanese is perfect.

You could hardly call Gillard's win a win. 72 seat minority government. And look at the way she was treated. No, Australia is too primitive for a female PM at this stage.

Abbott is gone from the federal parliament and if reports are to be believed could replace Hockey in Washington.
If Morrison is sincere he has the opportunity, with Abbott gone and the Nationals not losing a seat consolidating McCormack as leader, to reset the Liberal Party back towards the sensible center or center-right.

Minority govts are the norm now. Gillard, the second Rudd, Turnbull had 1 seat then minority, and Morrison had minority govts. This new govt may have a majority of 1.

Tanya for PM .. Spare us the candle lit episodes for deceased drug runners . She can't marry them when Indonesia sends them home. If Labor elect her , the life story won't ever disappear. GIVE A DOG A BAD NAME AND IT STICKS FOREVER> |

I propose that those referring to australians as bogan, redneck, primitive pi** of to New Zealand, if they think their sensibilities have been assaulted.
Has society flipped? Arnt the above terms used by the likes of Bronwyn Bishops type? pt could go to China Julie Bishop would never have done what Morrison has done.
