... and the party was a dud anyway!PartyDead

Surely they can't be serious ... now they want to have a go at her over another trip she did to the Gold Coast, where she bid on a property, and was UNSUCCESSFUL! ... surely that's a freebie and doesn't count? Not fair!!!Cry

Now, now, lets settle down and look at this seriously ... sorry, we will need all the hand wringers to please return to their seats!

OK.

Firstly, if you are a politician, and you have ever done any personal business when on a taxpayer funded trip, please say "oink" ...

PigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPigPig ........ etc, etc, etc

Those who have not, please say "I".

[sound of cricket chirping]

If this is going to change (and it won't), it needs both parties to support it - remember Bronnie? - the ALP have not let up about that ever since, Bullgelati Bill has been totally focused on removing all of these out of step rorts ... OH WAIT, NO HE HASN'T!!!Ermm

On the other hand, does this just mean that we don't pay them enough?

That could be the answer - just have them give themselves a pay rise ... oh that's right, THEY JUST DID!!!

And finally ... have none of these clowns ever heard of Skype, or facechat, or Goto meetings, etc ... or even a phone call? ... I mean, after all, under the inspired leadership of Prime Minister Turnbull, we are internationally recognised as The Innovation Nation!!!Cool

I liked the politician who got his driver to drive his dogs home,on account of the taxpayer,as far away as TIMBUKTU.

A priest and an Australian shepherd got a tie in a quiz show so they have to solve the last question: find a rhyme on the word Timbuktu. After five minutes the priest returns and says: "I was a father all my life, I had no children, had no wife, I read the bible through and through on my way to Timbuktu..." The crowd was cheering him and thought he would win as the shepherd returns: "When Tim and I to Brisbane went, we met three ladies cheap to rent. They were three and we were two, so I booked one and Tim booked two..."

Victoria's Corrections Minister has apologised after it was revealed he used his taxpayer-funded chauffeur-driven car to ferry his pet pooches 120 kilometres between his Melbourne home and his country house.

Minister Steve Herbert was forced to issue an apology on Wednesday night for misusing the official car after he initially responded by saying he had  "no issue" with his driver being used to transport his dogs while he was not in the car

I think somebody accidental hit the pause button on the end of the age of entitlement. At least for these privileged gits anyway.

Not a problem, go out and smash some pensioners and unemployed kids(victims of jobs and growth fail) to cover itOuch

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop charged taxpayers $2716 to attend the Portsea Polo for “official ministerial business”.

The revelation comes as pressure mounts on Health Minister Sussan Leyover her travels at the expense of taxpayers, which have sparked calls for reform to the entitlement system.

Ms Bishop was invited to the January 9, 2016 event on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula as a guest of Peroni and Jeep.

She was pictured at the event in an exclusive marquee hosted by Mercedes Benz where her fellow guests included models, socialites and former prime minister Tony Abbott’s daughter Frances.

A Department of Finance report shows Ms Bishop spent $2177 on flights to Melbourne for the event, $416 on a car and claimed a $123 travel allowance.

In response to questions from the ABC, her office issued a short statement.

“The Minister was invited and attended in her official capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party,” it read.

Ministers are allowed to claim for travel relating to their office, but the Ministerial Standards prohibit travel for private purposes.

“Ministers must be scrupulous in ensuring the legitimacy and accuracy of any claim for entitlement to ministerial, parliamentary or travel allowance,” they read.

“Although [ministers’] public lives encroach upon their private lives, it is critical that Ministers do not use public office for private purposes.”

It has also been revealed that two federal government ministers and a Tasmanian senator have charged taxpayers more than $2500 for a trip to the AFL Grand Final in 2013.

The men were guests of the National Australia Bank and received complimentary tickets and hospitality.

One of the ministers, Senator Mathias Cormann, is in charge of the department that oversees politicians’ entitlements.

He billed taxpayers $3533 for he and his wife’s airfares to attend the match.

In a statement his office said he had “official commitments before, during and after the AFL Grand Final weekend”.

“As well as portfolio related meetings on Friday, the Minister had Melbourne based media commitments both on Saturday and Sunday morning as well as a series of other portfolio related commitments in Melbourne,” the statement said.

Trade Minister Steve Ciobo charged taxpayers $1102 for an airfare to the match.

His office has not responded to a request for comment.

Tasmanian senator David Bushby billed for $863 of flights from Hobart to Melbourne and back again. The ABC has contacted him for comment.

Senator Mitch Fifield also attended the grand final as a guest of the National Australia Bank but did not charge taxpayers for any travel. He lives in Victoria.

alas, when a political party is cruel and rapacious....and instills policies to target and hurt the elderly, poor, underpriveleged, kids out of school ....all under the guise of 'we need to cut your money otherwise the whole economy goes broke' ....whilst they rort the taxpayer blind with corrupt, cheating behaviour and give a $50 bill tax cut to their mates....

no1   politicians are not a special class who are particularly corrupt, they are just people who take advantage of the rorting opportunities presented to them as many people in all fields do, the difference is we are paying for it.

no2   you have to feel sorry for them Confused as Kelly O'Dwyer said yesterday the expenses rules are unclear and need to be better defined, of course politicians can't actually work out for themselves that what they are doing is wrong, they need gudelines in black and white . what a load of rubbish, what they need is a moral compass, those pictures if Julie at the polo and Mathias at the football nearly made me throw up.

still on a world scale, Putin's billions, it is small scale

Can't see any difference between Labor and Coalition. Labor has had ample opportunity to fix things over the years with the assistance of the cross benches if they wanted to.

Ha Ha Kelly O'Dwyer, one of the few current cabinet members who isn't on the list of 21 Libs who charged the taxpayer to attend Malcolm's party, She is on the hit list of non Abbott supporters who will have something directed at her at some opportunity. She looked very relieved to not be one of the 21 yesterday when facing the press I guess that is why she was sent out

In that case we can expect to see rorting Labor members being singled out soon The LNP wont them get away with it while wearing flack themselves.

PT, you know perfectly well that there's simply not enough lazy dole bludging welfare cheating LIBERAL supporters out there with the time on their hands and personal vendettas against the corrupt ALP MPs to be inclined to waste their lives checking this stuff ... how can they compete with GetUp? ... that's why we need a Federal ICAC.

Your right, with the salaries on offer, there would be no conservatives, and only unqualified Union Shop Stewards prepared to run for parliament ... they would need to cap the IQ test at a max. of about 85 too ... oh dear, LOL, can you imagine the leadership debates ... they would just stand there blinking and shuffling their feet. Wacko

New Expenses Algorithm Just Assumes All Government Ministers Are Misusing Entitlements

By The Shovel on January 12, 2017
iberal party government handouts

Every minister in the federal government has been sent a letter saying they need to pay back thousands of dollars in entitlements, with the burden on the minister to prove otherwise.

The new automated system was developed to create a more efficient process, cutting out the need for human involvement. “We developed an algorithm based on a number of inputs from previous data, and the formula came out at 100%,” a spokesperson for the project said. â€œIt’s much simpler to just assume that all ministers are rorting the system and then weed out the ones that aren’t, rather than the other way around”.

A special phone line has been set up for Ministers wishing to contest the claims. The average on-hold time is currently 7 hours.

If Arfur is now competent enough to be Education Minister, does it mean his memory has returned? ICAC might be pleased to hear that. They have a lot of questions to ask him again.

Whether Cormann was entitled to take his wife to Broome for a weekend 5 times is not the point. He charged the taxpayer $5660 for a return weekend when you can get 5 star accommodation for $230 a night and return flights to Broome from Perth for under $250

Is the real problem here that the ALP pollies are just so stupid, they don't know how to dud their expenses? Geek ... instead they just give their unpaid bills to Chinese Companies to pay on their behalf, an in return they become their slaves?Wacko

Anyway, Prime Minister Mr Turnbull has once dealt with the problem, and devised a brilliant innovative resolution (well the ALP have never tried!)!Clap

We are so fortunate to have his leadership!

Ok Whale, would you have been happier if Mr Turnbull had done nothing? ... just what would you have him do about this issue that has been around since the dinosaurs? ... NOTHING ... which is precisely what the ALP have done?

Well, he's shown leadership, hasn't he, and now it's fixed!Beer

I really don't know why the hand wringers get so upset, when he keeps doing things that they scream and shout and demand of him ... they actually seem to get more upset, probably because they have less to be upset and OUTRAGED about ... should he make the announcement standing on his head with his thumb up his bum?Wacko
