I feel sorry for the lad but I have to agree with the owner's decision. Listening to the post race interview, Bullock seemed relieved he was kept on for the Wyong race, so he has had one leg off the horse for a while obviously.

You are 100% correct.

I am currently reading a great old book and the current chapter talks about Fred Archer offering his services and being knocked back with the owner being loyal to his jockey. Proved very costly.

The Chinese (?) jockey on Danewin would have been better left off it, probably.

No probably about that one Max. On the other hand average jockeys like Nolen and Ford did okay when given the right horseflesh.

SKITTLED and looking at its action..head-on in the straight...the near-fore action was awful....either that or eased right down

And Aaron Bullock goes around on a 3s on shot, if I am not mistaken, still looking for his first metro winner.

Good luck to him.

McGillivray was extremely remiss, however thought the interference to Jonkers was somewhat overstated by the caller.

Apologies. Thought Jonkers was the one in the red, not the one behind the three up front.  Embarrassed

Matthew McGillivray (Ef Troop) gets one month suspension effective immediately after pleading guilty to careless riding in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic per @ChrisRoots1.

If he knocked the other 3,up front,early....he may have won the race.

Who knows how disorganised that field could have been,on the worst case scenario.

In a FREMANTLE PACING RACE (NAVY CUP)way back in 1969?,I saw a horse disqualified (named SLICK DEED,won) when it moved out and took horses everywhere.

What I'm saying is....perhaps if it won easy after knocking the whole field down,it may have met the same demise...disqualified to last

He could only plead guilty to that. 1 month a fair suspension.

Anybody recall what penalty Raymond Shane Dye got for his ride on Suicide Blonde which was almost exactly the same as this except in a far less conspicuous race ?

JONKER – Struck the running rail near the 800m and was severely checked. Jockey M. McGillivray (EF TROOP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that after the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along taking SUNLIGHT in onto SECRET LADY, which was carried across the running of JONKER, which struck the running rail and was severely checked near the 800m. Bearing in mind the severity of the interference, the status of the race and the degree of carelessness jockey McGillivrays licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one (1) month to commence midnight 13 January 2018 and expire midnight 13 February 2018. A post race veterinary examination of JONKER revealed it to have sustained multiple abrasions to all 4 legs.

I think I remember the incident...happened in the home straight at WARWICK FARM (midweek)...in those days SKY was not available to the public BUT

I was smart...I was taping races at  a HOTEL,placed a video recorder in their premises and paid the HOTEL 100 bucks a week...best investment I ever made.....I was doing it as early as 87,...had to put up with a rubbish service on prices...in days of KERRY BUCKRIDGE and GRAHAM McNEICE

Hey Red the Sucicide Blonde race was at Rosehill and was a serious plunge.

This is the second time in 6 weeks a jockey has blatantly taken out one of the dangers in a big race. Stewards need to start getting serious. 6 months would send a message.
