Jockey's are that cheap?

I'd probably use my last $10 on food and water, but if I had to use it to on a jockey it would be a female one.

I'd keep it my pocket for the sake of being responsible.

There's always another day.

Want the definition of a VICTIM? One that always tries to get out on the last race....or one that tries to borrow money for a punt. NEVER LEND MONEY TO A PUNTER, especially if they're a friend.

Come on Red, as if you have never had a bet at Toowoomba!! I love the get-out stakes. Can't tell you how many times Toowoomba or Meadows dogs have saved my bacon. God bless the get outs.

Certainly wasn't being serious Noccy, in fact, pretty much the opposite. 2 guys better known for holding them up than winning, are the last 2 guys I want my last $10 on.

That's why Casino players die a death....it's a 24 hour thing.

For me there's plenty of free time away from the punt. Always believed in another day.

Back in the 80's when I won big on a particular day, I knew the next day was going to be a bummer

and ...a few days of losing...I shut shop for a couple, re-charge and came back winning.

I was mentally fatigued at the end of a raceday (then)

The big winning days. Didn't need drugs. Can't beat ADRENALIN.

I'll tell you a story.

I punted big on trifectas. Was the top punter at the DOGGIES for some years(gave them up when my life was threatened by two trainers)...anyhow (talking about 1982) I had this bad night at the Mandurah Dogs...lost the lot, about 3k.

What was I to do? No banks open...no ATM machines then

Went down to the local store and thankfully the owner lent me 800. That was enough for the Saturday Cannington dogs and a couple of small bets at the Sydney races.

Within a few hours I had won 1300 thanks a $20 all up place bet on 3 Sydney horses.

Quickly returned the 800 and gave him extra 200 for getting me out of this awkward situation.

That night won back all I lost the previous night.

I HATE ASKING FOR MONEY.

So how could I rectify this situation. There was a way out.

Home Building Societies were open on Saturday mornings. If you wanted 1k or more you needed to give 24 hours advice...that didn't suit me.

So I opened up a few accounts...and on losing Friday nights, from then on I had access to up to,at least,1500 bucks (3x500)......end of story.

How I never got robbed, after leaving a Dog track or TAB, I don't know.

A friend did tell me...if you want to hide money....seal it in glass jars with plastic tops and bury it.
(anything metal...detectors can find)
That's providing you have plenty of land and a good memory.

This never appealed to me.

Banks were my best friends.

Jeff Penza in the last at Randwick Wink

I bet you that will be a pub trivia question in the future. Who was the jockey who won the last race at Randwick before they made built the new stand?
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise
