Assuming you mean the old front-running Pirate Bird of the 60's, his record was:

122-9-9-11.

Sorry, but that must make you feel a bit better.

Yeah thats the one...but 9...nine...one short of 10!!!
10 would have seen a 'no bet'.
Thanks..I think?

Was on a sporting trip to Sydney many years ago and we went to Warwick Farm races.  In an unforgetable day remember backing Pirate Bird at 40's.  He got out at least 20 lengths in front in the staying race and they never looked like catching him.  He used to do the same thing about every 12 months!
It's hard to soar with eagles...

Cheers

The 1st thing my parents did having bought a house & 25 acres only 2mths after landing here from the UK was to visit the Wodonga horse sales. We bought Patello, PBs' 1/2 brother for $200, pre trained him ourselves with the intention of partaking in the Dederang Ladies Bracelet (glandular fever put paid to my dream!) & sent him down to Norm Creighton to hurdle. The old boy had won 2 races at Rosehill so wasn't a slouch. Unfortunately Lots Of Time was there with him but Norm managed 3 cty 2nds with him which was an all time thrill. Always think of him when PB is mentioned.
Experience is something you gain a few minutes after you could have used it!
