3 interesting heats for the 2 year olds. some that have looked very good at the trials, raced have looked good and some of the unraced have won trials by big spaces. My prediction for the best of the raced runners is WATCH THE ACES - HEAT 3. The most impressive unraced ones are CASINO PRINCESS - HEAT 2 and ARTORIUS + MEET THE PRESIDENT - HEAT 3. Heres a rundown on the heats.

Heat 1 @ 1.14pm

Raced should dominate as 2 unraced have showed little at the trials. KAI PEARL (1) won from the stand on debut in Non-TAB race when leading all the way. LOMBO TERRITORY (2) has solid WA form and has gate speed. OUR ARCHANGEL (3) did a pretty good job at Kilmore as found the lead but was pressured a long long way from home and entitled to weaken. HILTON FLY HIGH (5) capitalised on the speed burn in that race and ran to the line strongly to win. Won on debut before that when a shade lucky as horse on its outside was going better and galloped on the bend leaving this one well out in front.

SELECTIONS: 2-5-1-3

Heat 2 @ 1.49pm

CASINO PRINCESS (1) has trialled well. DIVINE BELLE (2) has been well beaten in 2 trials. LOMBO NAHEZDA (3) has had 2 runs in WA and been well beaten. Stablemate JUSTA JEM LOMBO (4) may go better than LN as Beau Tindale is driving it. It is unraced so watch the betting closely. JUST LIKE ROSE (5) will be drivven by Daryl Douglas on debut, well beaten in trial so may need to improve sharply on that effort. GOLDEN SASSY LOMBO (6) has been spaced in 2 trials so far so may struggle in this from wide draw. Key runner is MAGICLITTLEPARTNER (7) who led from the stand on debut after some good trial performances and zipped home ina  brilliant 57.9 to win by a space. Thats an outstanding last half for a 2yo on debut and this one does look very hard to hold out.

SELECTIONS: 7-1-4-3

HEAT 3 @ 2.24pm

ARTORIUS (1) drew the pole in its sole trial and won running away by 20m in a last half of 59.3. Obviously going to be very hard to beat if can hold the lead. WATCH THE ACES (2) comes here after 2 brilliant WA runs including a close second to Glen Well, that horse was then outstanding winning at Glo Park on New Years Eve. Looks very smart does this one. GRAND DADDY (3) went great on debut behind the unbeaten Hilton Fly High. We will get a guide on the strength of that form after HFH goes around in Heat 1 of this series. EYE SPY LOMBO (4) has two placings in WA including one in a 1.59 mile rate to the smart Zen Over Again. Should measure up to these. MEET THE PRESIDENT (5) is from the strong Lance Justice team and was a very impressive 15m trial winner at Geelong the only time it has stepped out in public. GEHRRIG (6) was second at recent trial, but runs into some extra smart youngters in what looks to be a hot heat where they should run time. Drawn badly as well. THE INNKEEPER (7) has been trialling ok but the draw makes it tough.

SELECTIONS: 2-1-5-4

In the other races on the card:

R4 - COBARGO MAGIC (4) is first up but all class and should handle these without a worry in the world. Trialled reasonably well behind the smart Hezbetterthanalltherest in preparation for this run. The form around Kept for Pleasure and Staccato is outstanding for a race of this nature.

R5 - SILKARI BOY (9) is getting fitter and has good trailling draw. Hes tough and ready to fire. Dangers are OUR SUICIDE BLONDE (4) who should improve with the flying D Douglas to drive. ALWAYS ON FIRE (5) has looked good since arriving from NZ. CAMS ATOM (2) should get a cheap run from the draw.

R6 - Hot race. Many chances. ROYAL JASPER (8) is well placed but inside second row draw makes it tough. Beat the smart Shoot the Dice two runs back. Main dangers are CHICAGOMATE (2) the early leader, FANTASTIC GUY (4) and FEARLESS MADDI (11) have performed well since coming from NZ, DANIELLE STAR (6) is flying but the draw makes it tough. THE CARRIBEAN KID (12) will be flying home late.

R7 - GANGSTER GIRL (1) is badly drawn as has no gate speed, but has a huge finishing burst. SAFE GREAKER (9) resumes, early career form good, recent form no so. No trial form so watch betting. INFINITYANDBEYOND (11) has a great finishing sprint but no Scott Dyer this time is a concern. Tricky race, may well have missed the winner with these 3.

Note: Meet the President didnt win a trial by 15m. My oops.

Cant be arse previewing heat 4 at 5.35....
BUT the race should be dominated by unraced but impressive trialler SHES MAISEY (1) and the raced WA filly HI FLYIN LOMBO (6)

I almost bought Our Archangel at the sales last year. He was an athletic little bloke like all of my Our Sir Vancelots are. I didnt see yesterdays race but heard it. Sounded like a good run. Can he win the final???

How far can he go???
