How does Ashton Turner get a game in Australia’s ODI side? Is it because Maxwell wanted to take a break from international cricket for Australia or does Stoinis has any issues with Langer ?

Maxwell and Stoinis stayed here to give what little credibility the Big Bash has some oomph.

On the top rating 3AW Breakfast Show this morning John Burns thought Ashton Turner sounded like a legal practice in the city, as he had never heard of him.

Bob, you should stop listening to John Burns(whoever that is) then. Even I remember Turner hitting the winning runs in an innings of 84 no in India last year in the ODI series there. I would suggest it was that innings that got him the nod for this short trip.

No I didn't, I watched the Brisbane Heat with a couple of the best batsmen in the world collapse ingloriously to lose an un-loseable match. I did notice in the scoresheet though that he outscored 5 of his team mates including the best opener in the world. Coming in at 7 you are there to accelerat or plug holes your mates have left. I would look for others to blame before him, like why would Starc come in at no 5? Was the batting lineup so thin he had to do that, or were they just experimenting experimenting?

What happened with Pat Cummins that they didn't bowl him out? Was he injured?

Turner scored 4 singles after failing to score off 6 other balls..he looked out of his depth coming in at number 7. They sent Starc at number 5 in an attempt to smash a quick score, prior to him coming in they were way behind in the run rate, even though Smith & Laberschaugne had been batting. Starc did not hang around and only lasted 3 balls , so nothing was lost. Cummins only bowled 7 overs and was being smashed all over the park, so Finch said, "that was enough overs for you today mate". They were never in the game once both Warner and Finch and were both out, they seem to be the only players who can consistently hit fours and sixes.

A better question rather than what Turner was doing in the team might be what was a fatigued team doing on a stupid end of long summer trip to India where we always struggle. The IPL starts soon and Australia still has a short ODI series with NZ. Players are being spread pretty thin and blooding new players in inconsequential series is not a bad thing.

In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!
