This article on Breednet really resonated with me and I certainly am struggling with stallion choices in the Hunter for the upcoming season in the $5K - $8K range. In the quest to be meet the fickle fashion parade-esque breeding industry in the Hunter, is the small breeder being squeezed out?

My mare has gone, in the last four seasons, to Roman Emperor (twice), Counterattack and Bull Point. With the exception of Bull Point (and I am wary of putting too many eggs in the one basket), there's not much else to tempt me. In Victoria, I would happily go to Inference and Holler and look closely at Glass Harmonium, Swear and Americain. I would have been queuing up for Fiorente in his early days.

NSW participants talk fondly about the small guys who rode the Vinny train all the way, but those opportunities seem less accessible these days.
