Just interested in peoples thoughts on how he is going with the tried Europeans.

Outside Big Duke and Kings Will Dream- what else has he done anything with- im more thinking the French - Irish and Uk horses- a few years ago he had the grey Pusissance De Lune- but since then he has had huge numbers-

Does his style work ?

He won me a country cup with an import (own a tail hair in Andrea Mantegna) so I’m happy with his performance

He’s got major race wins out of GAILO CHOP (Caulfield Stks & Rawson Stks) & ANCIENT KING (Vic GN Hurdle).

I’m sure there’s plenty of others that have done well, like AKZAR & TALL SHIP.

But probably more that have disappeared without a trace.

The thing that should annoy people is how inconsistent they are.

The same can be said for Waller and his imports. The same can be said for most imports.

Waller had 3 high profile imports last spring. My feeling is now they are under his full control they will blend in with the pack.

A mate of mine bought one of his ex OTI imports for not much money, won two country cups with him, beating Weir horses on both occasions

Finn Mccool was the horses name

Picked up Finn for $27,000. Which was a good deal IMO

We picked up Andrea for a lot more than that, was previously with another Weir owner who wanted to reduce his tried numbers, Weir recommended this horse to our syndicator so we bought him at auction.

But he has had country success with plenty of Europeans.
Glorious Sinndar, Mr Garcia are two off the top of my head.

Weir is given these imports isn't he ?

Waller has spent $12m on imports.

Owners buy them and give them to a trainer, that’s generally how it works out syndicate works exclusively with Weir stable , however another syndicate I was in a few years ago, had a majority rules vote for who would train. Ended up with Moody. Won two races from three starts and broke down

That ship has sailed? Buying staying horses from UK for our market is bullocks now. We are getting sold basic rejects for well overs!! But these big OZ horse syndicates keep thinking there people are the best. UK have been doing this for eons to other places. Prices are eye watering crazy! But every now and then one gets through the net!!

We started buying a few euro's for McEvoy back in 2012 (Le Roi, Big Memory, Mouro, Sysmo, Kourkam and a few others) but we'd buy them as maidens or 1-2 start winners, bring them over and work them through the grades. Trying to do that now you're paying 2 sometimes 3 times more than we were then for the same type of horse. It's mad

Why do people so much worry into how some trainers go with European horses? It's not that hard or different. They are horses!! Gees there would be some problems in Hong Kong if that was the case? But the trainers there have nothing different to the others. And Southern Hemisphere or northern hemisphere. They are all the same. There is no particular choice with trainers there! They get what they are given
