Sounds promising..

Both of his runners in Australia have so far shown promise - just not a bumper crop of early runners.

Patience is a virtue, and double so in the horse world 😁

Spendthrift messed up hugely when they first arrived, with stallions arriving late and appalling marketing.  That's no way to market their emerging presence. So much so that here's their covers in 2015:

Jimmy Creed: 22
Can The Man: 11
Warrior's Reward: 24
Hampton Court: 22

So Jimmy has only 16 live foals from his first season to vanguard him in Oz.

No trouble seeing why Can The Man got sacked (typically, I quite liked him - so long as the price was right).

I am glad that they were able to persevere with the others.

Well our Jimmy Creed colt (Expectant) has returned to training and had a hit out over 600m yesterday (Mornington). Pleasingly he won, showed good speed out of the barriers, picking up the bridal well however the trainer said he is still immature and in the middle section ran like a “zebra being chased by lions”. I suspect he will stay a colt this prep however it is looking likely that he will be gelded after he fills out a little more.

In summary - He is showing ability but still a bit skittish. He may have an official trial in a couple of weeks - so hopefully he continues to progress.

I'll give the Spendthrift boys credit, they at least support you at the sales and bring clients around to look at horse. A few other studs I know could take a leaf out of their book and not just take your money.

Thanks Second Chance.

Looks like he will run at Cranbourne trials this Tuesday, which will be a good test to see how well he is progressing.

I wonder what’s going on with Knock Knock - was accepted to resume a few weeks ago, scratched, haven’t seen him since.

I saw that also - he has been the most promising Jimmy Creed colt so interested to see how he progresses as a 3yr old.

Our colt ran in an official trial today - Cranbourne: Trial 8. http://https://www.racing.com/form/2020-03-03/cranbourne-trn-trial/heat/8/results

Shane was very pleased with his run. Laid in a little at the turn as a horse came around his outside - however all part of the learning. Stockdale rode him and besides immediately asking to be retained said he needed at least 1100 - 1200 allowing him time to settle into the race.

Another encouraging step - hopefully he pulls up well and he can be aimed at his first start in the next week or so.

Well, his first run did not go to plan! In total, the colt has jumped out, trialed or raced about 7 times and he has put in 5 very good and 2 very poor runs. The 2 poor runs, and unfortunately one was at his first start, were as a result of the same issue - the colt hates being brought up into the straight/race by the outside horse.......he darts to the rail, loses momentum and drops the field.

He is prime candidate to be gelded however he still has some filling out to do (typical of the Jimmy Creed line) so he will remain entire until after his next spell.

He runs again on Sunday with blinkers/tongue tie - his track work suggests the gear will certainly help. So here's hoping that some of his potential is shown on the Course this Sunday.....
