Easy win. Almost back to the Kementari of old.
He was breathtaking to watch at 3.

Great to see this guy win another feature race
It’s rare these days to see gun 3yo’s still racing as 7yo’s.

I’ve heard that Nobody.
Whilst Godolphins whole operation is geared towards 2-3yo juvenile racing, the staff all seem to love & revere the veteran flag bearers, the likes of Hartnell, Avilius & Kementari.

Kementari colt a collector's item
Jimmy Unwala hopes it's a simple case of supply and demand. He's got something in short supply - in fact he's got a one of a kind - and buyers at next year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale will likely be keen to get a piece of it. Unwala is the man behind Avesta Bloodstock and he owns what is understood to be the only registered son of Group 1 winner-turned failed stallion-turned G2-winning gelding Kementari. The story of 'Special K' has become part of racing folklore - Godolphin's stunning colt won the G1 Randwick Guineas and was placed in five other races at the elite level before a brief and largely unsuccessful stint at stud. Kementari served 54 mares in 2019 but, after only a handful fell pregnant, he was gelded and returned to James Cummings' stable to continue his racing career. One of the lucky few that did end up in foal was Bernardini mare With Care, who Unwala bought in foal for $26,000 at last year's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. "She was the only mare in foal to Kementari that was available for purchase," Unwala said. "I actually really liked her and I think part the reason she went relatively cheap was because of COVID - the sale was at a time when COVID had just hit and the market was very soft. "The colt has furnished quite well and the plan is that he'll end up in the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. "He's probably going to be a syndicator's dream, especially given Kementari has come back so well. "But if you remove the whole novelty factor with Kementari, he's actually a really nice colt." While Godolphin aren't going to be using Kementari's recent win in the G2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) to market his credentials as a stallion, Unwala believes any further success as a gelding will only help to boost the interest in his colt. Kementari ran fourth in yesterday's $500,000 Sydney Stakes (1200m) at Randwick and holds entries for the $1 million Classique Legend Stakes (1300m) and two of Perth's G1 features in November. "What it does is keep Kementari fresh in people's minds," he said. "If Kementari retired last year, then this colt would've been by a retired gelding that hadn't raced for over a year. "It shows people that yeah maybe he was a dud at stud and he couldn't get them in foal but he's a very good racehorse."

It’d be great story if one or more of Kementari’s progeny went on to be top class racetrack performer.

I'll admit my money went on him with confidence after watching his impressive trial. Best trial I had seen for a long while with him. Am I break even on him from the punt? not sure but its getting closer.
I've now watched the replay of his wins a few times from Saturday and still impressed with his 'new' ability to take the run.
You might think I'm joking but I think he might have finally figured out this racing caper as a gelding!! Looking forward to Nash getting another go on him either in Adelaide or Brisbane.

He gets a slot of criticism this fella, but I reckon he's had a great career. Considering the talk was around about retiring him prior to winning the G3 Scahill Stakes at Ascot 18 months ago, he has done well since, winning a Group 2, a Group 3 plus the Buffering (where he beat Kingsford Smith Cup winner Apache Chase giving him weight).
It's a pity the handicapper didn't miss him for the Stradbroke next week.

Read a brief summary of his career by Dominic Beirne, who stated that the range in his race to race ratings were remarkably narrow.

Dud at stud's only living colt wins on debutThe only living colt foal of stud dud Kementari made the perfect start to his career at Canterbury on Wednesday. Manwe, the result of the Kementari and With Care mating, is one of just two living foals by Kementari who covered 54 mares during his short stud career before being deemed infertile and returning to the racetrack where he won another four races. Manwe was Kementari's first starter. His live filly, a daughter of Free Speech, is yet to be named. Trained by Anthony Cummings, Manwe gave none of his rivals a look in, leading throughout to win the Paulele @ Darley 3YO C&G Maiden Handicap (1200m). "I got pretty much what I expected," Cummings said. "He's been a pretty nice horse right from the get go. "He's improved with every gallop and every trial including a couple of jump outs at home. "He's a nice horse in the making." Manwe ($12) defeated the John O'Shea-trained Dimitrov ($5.50) by three-quarters of a length with another half-length back to Joe Pride's Ceolwulf ($19) in third. The heavily backed $1.80 favourite Bravely failed to beat a runner home. How about that?! Kementari's only son Manwe wins and wins well on debut at the double figures. Jason Collett with a well rated ride for @CummingsRacing. pic.twitter.com/qyf63Nbq6S — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) August 16, 2023
Winning jockey Jason Collett said Manwe has all the makings of an exciting prospect and he will take plenty from Wednesday's experience. "He's a really nice horse," Collett said. "He handled himself really well and to be able to put himself up on the speed shows he has plenty of natural ability. "He's still very raw but that's what makes a horse like this so exciting. "Everything he did today was done on natural ability." Manwe was a $200,000 yearling purchase at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Cummings has plans to raise the bar quickly for the three-year-old colt with a Sydney feature late in September on the radar. "He's got a big plan in front of him," Cummings said. "In a perfect world he'll finish up in a Golden Rose. "I think today's race is a high quality race and there's good depth to it. "To win as he did is very exciting because I don't think he'll be a natural leader as his career goes on so to be able to do that speaks well of him and the aims are still intact."
