Craftsman into 2/7on. Both Hawkbill (15/2) and Idaho (11/1) drifters.

How about the G1 German Derby winner Windstoss ?  A bit of money on him @ 22/1

Salouen really gave Cracksman a run today. Windstoss 3rd.

11/4 (from 4/5on) offered on Cracksman winning the G1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes later this month.

John Gosden confirmed that Royal Ascot contest will be his next target.

Not surprised that pair went well. Salouen had Gr1 form at two and some decent Gr2 form last year. He'd run well all three wet track starts. Had a torrid run in the Derby last year when clipped heels and blocked for a run. Should have finished  a lot closer that day. Windtoss had 2 Gr1 wins in Germany both on soft tracks over 2400m.

That said I think Frankie was a bit cocky and gave the favourite way too much to do today. Probably expected the second horse to fold for him much sooner.

Cracksman's worst form also seems to be at Epsom. The 11/4 for the POW looks an over reaction to me.

I wasn't looking for a bite threebears but thanks for the nibble. Just stating facts bears. It was not A grade opposition and whilst crack didn't walk in, it wasn't his main target and will only improve.

Needs to improve quite a bit though to be mentioned alongside winx.

If Cracksman is the 2nd best horse in the world at the moment, on that run, bring him out and let Winx at him even at 2400m at she would absolutely kick his brains in. Here in Oz we have this misguided talk poppy syndrome, always having doubts re our horses ability compared to OS form. That race was comparable to a Saturday feature staying race like a McKell Cup. Group1 nah I don't think so. If this horse is rated 130 then Winx should be 136 and rising.

Totally agree Majestic, although we have tall poppy syndrome. It's the uk that are all talk.

I thought his run was very good. Looked strong at the business end.
Frankie and even perhaps Ryan Moore can get a tad too cute on hotpots.

Unless named runners are likely to meet in the future, it is pure folly to be comparing them.

Good horses are just that, we would all love to own one.

Not sure why people are potting him off that effort. Clearly doesn't like Epsom just like many other horses. Took until the last furlong which is the most even part of the track for him to power home. Back to Ascot good luck beating him.

Can’t say I’ve followed him much before but to my eye he never looked really comfortable in the run. Not sure if it was Epsom (history aside, shocking track) or something else, but he toughed it out well. Could definitely see him improving, but he’d want to.

I take it all back about Cracksman being the best horse in the world and better than Winx.  I was wrong.  Cracksman is in truth an overrated dud

You can say he did not travel today but he never travelled last time either when he struggled to win.  Two dud runs in a row so Cracksman is a dud

If only the Winx connections had taken her to Royal Ascot they could have won today's race and declared themselves best in the world

She did not need to travel to be proven the best in the world.

Cracksman is no dud.

So is Poet's Word now going to be rated higher than Winx?

I'm sure he's simply kicking the can down the road. Good to get some action going in the forum but little else.

It's a positive for racing that people will constantly argue about racing's great horses  kept apart by time or distance but in the end there is no valid comparison so we shouldn't denigrate one for another.

Cracksman with just two G1s isn't there yet but he has the potential. The fact that he was already near the top of the world ratings after just one win at the top level shows just how foggy those ratings are imo.

Cracksman is no longer potential, He is the finished article, It is just a matter of producing the goods.

I was talking about potential champ djebel - when he gets the runs on the board. Two G1s is no basis for that label. A handful more is an entirely different matter. I wonder what rating they'd have given VAIN?

More rubbery euro ratings? Whooda thort.

Hopefully the trainer can sort him out but Dettori's comment wasn't encouraging.

Respect to you atreus for making your last post. All of us get it wrong sometimes but only the insightful ones admit they were wrong. Hopefully your attitude is contagious and infects a few others on this thread and the forum as a whole.

Dance In The Grass (2f Cracksman x Dance The Dream, by Sir Percy) won the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown. I think that is first stakeswinner sired by Cracksman.
