Never travelled from the first step he took out of the barriers. He struggled to tack on first 200m and was largely off the bit the entire race.

Horrible and clearly wasn’t right. I’m stuffed if I know how a horse can race like that and not show something isn’t right in training.

I guess they can just have off days. Get out of the wrong side of the bed so to speak.

Roman Son – Rider C Reith advised that Roman Son did not travel at any stage of the event and he could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer representative Mr W Freedman stated that in his opinion Roman Son is a horse that has his runs spaced and today the gelding did not appreciate having to race 10 days after its previous race start. He added that Roman Son would now be spelled and he undertook to report if there was anything amiss with the gelding on return to the stable.

Spelling him seems over the top, why not a little freshen up. We all enjoy a good little freshen up now and then.

He was up about 2 grades today but none the less disappointing for his followers.        The winner has hit his straps with the Distance increases and staying appears his go ..    At 6Y/0 he won't win the MC either.

Just wasn’t right, but no way in the world he would have beat Eytomology imo. Think he’s a 2000 metre horse

He was up to 2400m against true stayers. The winner had a history of a number of Derby placings and in best form ever.
Benchmark winner in town getting only 1.5K from Open Class & Listed staying winner.
Roman Son may not be right but he hasn't set the word on fire.   The tougher 2400 on slow was the hurdle .

Britannicus (a full bro to Roman Son) was just sold on Inglis Digital Sale for $25,000.

Purchased by Cameron Cooke Bloodstock.

Admittedly his last run was pretty ordinary but just a gut feeling that he might run a race at big odds today. He’s 3rd up at 1800m with blinkers on - he’s 2 wins from 2 starts at that distance.

Will have a few gold coins on him for a place today.

The Freedman brothers have taken him up to Eagle Farm for a BM80 event over 1800m.

Probably D-day for him.
