Good win, but we will see how he goes in the grand final at 1200m on a fair track!

Still rather have Pierata and Santa Ana Lane in my slot!

Redzel ran an impressive third in Saturday’s Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes behind Nature Strip and Santa Ana Lane, and his trainers think it is the perfect swansong for the veteran sprinter to end his career on.

Trainers Peter and Paul Snowden confirmed they have been in touch with the two-time Everest winner’s owners, recommending they retire the seven year-old.

“Certainly in the back of our minds we want to retire him and finish on a really high note, but obviously that’s up to the owners group,” Paul Snowden said on RSN 927’s Correct Weight program on Sunday.

“He was amazing (in the TJ Smith Stakes), he was deadset amazing, that was probably one my most satisfying moments.

“Knowing where he is in this part of his career to see him do what he did…just very proud of our horse.

“We want to remember this horse for what he’s done and go out in high-regard rather than have him run poorly and then pull the pin on him.”

The son of Snitzel has had 39 starts for 15 wins and has won $16,444,000 in prizemoney.

Millrich also produced Danerich which won twice at stakes level and has been a great bread and butter stallion in Vic.

I see the Snowdens are advising to retire him, which is fair enough, but is he so unsuited at 1400m that he could not have just one more run in the All Aged?

With Nature Strip not going there, and the 3yo's falling off, his hardest to beat would be Santa and Pierata, who looks a semi final winner and just not able to blow away a field in the grand final.

No need to go there but he is in form and you are a long time retired!

Still racing very well. Most owners tend to push on, but most horses don't have his prizemoney total.

Pete said on the Sunday after his last race that he'd be recommending retirement to the owners as he felt it was one of his best runs & he'd like him to go out on a high not as an also ran Clap

Congratulations the the owners for looking after their horse, and taking the trainer,s advice.
With the money he has won I would think he will have a happy retirement.
