Just bought it, have a riding horse that has been sore for ages. Doesn’t like having her back near leg stretched out ie farrier, or going downhill. Vet advised could take up to $10,000 to perhaps find the problem. She’s been a paddock ornament last couple of years, only 6 yrs old. Maybe this app will help solve the mystery Ouch

More common are sacro issues, in fact I have one now whose hind legs trembled after about 20secs of one being lifted only to mid calf height.

Visiting racehorse vet said not sacro, she’s not TB though

Just so hard to diagnose Take2. Paint stallion x TB mare. One of those horses never fed properly, nor the dam. Too many horses, no feed/drought situation. We bought her unbroken at 2, extremely tractable friendly nature. Bit of a roach back, mild. Real easy to break in, went on a few trail rides, couple of big ones, steepish country when 3. Went sore in paddock, had farriers, vets, chiro. No one can pinpoint it, at least without spending the big bucks as per above post.  Big 16.1, strong perfectly behaved mare, black, baldy face, two bright blue eyes. Just going to waste now as a companion horse for a neighbours retired gelding. Too young, bit of a shame. Still the same in paddock after couple of years off, not lame, just not sound. Near hind. Hip, stifle, ligament? not the hock or fetlock, lower leg at all.  You could saddle her up after 2 or more years and just ride off, she’s so people orientated and sensible.

i reckon hip sister dot, not a vet, but i bet anyone with crook hips would recognise the traits
also the fact that she went up very steep hills may be the root cause, putting pressure on the lower back/hip connections,  gradients always test the lower back - hammies - joints etc for us 2 legged warriors,, so i guess its the same for them
ballarat has its famous hill track which has a steady gradient for prob 1000m before the really heavy stuff starts, so they can ease them into it and it turnsout gr8 results
a masseur may be able to pinpoint the prob, sometimes they get it right
good luck
