A survey of 10,000 Europeans, also showed that 80% of European citizens support a Trump-style travel ban of immigrants

Unless Macron is breaking election promises big time I say put the water cannon, the teargas, the billy clubs, the rubber bullets and the dogs on to the bastards. And even if he is, do it anyway.Tongue People who trash shops and burn cars are not protesting against broken election promises- they have other motives.

Macron promised to govern from the center and to lift everyone at the same time.

Punters however see tax cuts for the wealthy as a betrayal and then the fuel tax penalizing workers and asking them to pay for climate change reducing measures, when big business who got tax breaks are the main polluters, was too much.

Now that they have his attention and he has backed down on the fuel tax, unions are putting demands to him to do something for the workers instead.

What they are doing to people,s shops and livelyhood is beyond disgusting. Shocked  If they cant get their point across without trashing other,s shops/cars etc they need to give up.  Not to mention tourism.  I love,,well did love,,,Paris, but i would not be going there now.
Just blatantly throwing bricks thru shop windows , like, what good is that going to do ? Confused Destroying property is going to help them and their cause how ?? Clown

I've seen crowd numbers quoted as 10k in which case they're a tiny minority. The country voted for Macron, presumably to do the job he is, like or lump it.

It was either Macron or extreme Left or Right. They didn't vote for Macron, they voted safe. That worked out well. France had problems before Macron came along.

Macron is about to come out of his sulk to address the nation for the first time since he called the protestors "thugs" a couple of weeks back. Echoes of Hillary's "deplorables" but he's even more out of touch than she is. Let's see what he says.

Sarkozy called the same movement a thugocracy, yet was elected President after saying it.

Got my time difference wrong - just watched what he said. Pathetic. Grovelling to the young people and saying "we need national dialogue" and less centralized decision making etc.
Pfft.

Are you saying they are not thugs, the damage caused is fine with you Confused

Unless of course a protest is against your side, then the most peaceful, innocuous demonstration would elicit hysterical howls of protest

I form my opinions based on the facts presented and factor in the opinions of experts, in this example a majority of climate scientists suggest this is happening.

I do not consider the rightard 'evidence' that because it got hot for a week in the 1890s shows that climate change is fact.

Nobody is denying that the climate is variable, another favourite claim of the right 'but weather is always changing!'

It's easy for you to deny this, you admit that you are older, so you'll miss when it gets really bad but this is going to hurt your descendants unless we do something to arrest the change.
