Not sure if there's a thread on this bloke - well there is now.

Looks in good order and made the last little bit of ground well with Williams using the whip Euro style, lovely sight to watch

Just watched the race.

Great show of intestinal fortitude. Something sadly the equally talented Michelangelo must have left back in Europe.

Lloyd Williams is very talented.

The horse looked neat before the race and he still stepped out well afterwards (not much left by the last on a humid day) so will have to see it again.

And yes took a while to believe, now could spend all day watching the L.W. operation going through it's paces - must be a lot of fun for him (l'm not jealous btw Wink ........ well , maaaybe just a little bit)

I was really impressed. Relaxed nicely in the run and really fought hard down the straight. He is beautifully bred by Galileo out of a dixieland band mare. To do what he has done in just four starts puts the writing on the wall for a big spring.

Foundry is Group 3 / Group 2 class, on his British form.  Beaten just over a length in a Group 2, and just over 3 lengths in a Group 3.

He got into a handicap on 56.5kg because it was only 1400m??

sorry, just over 3 lengths in a Group 1, not Group 3.  Really wish we could edit text.

All you have to do is place in a 2400m G2.  I can see plenty of Aussie horses doing that in start no2  Smile

He was amazingly weighted. The race was basically one rung below listed level. Many listed races have less depth than that race, on the BM scale anyway.

Pretty tricky to handicap these types.  Fact is he's only won a maiden.  2nd at G2 level is what gave him the 95 rating allocated.  5th in the G1 wouldn't have had as much impact.

There is no way he could have carried more than Hvasstan who is a Group winner and came 4th in the Derby.  Niblick was carried 1.5kg as top weight and he's a multiple stakes winner (though out of form).

Foundry entered on Saturday, at a mile.

Sea Moon seems wasted at that distance.  Only ran at a mile in Britain as a 2yo.

oops, entered in a 7f h'cap as well.

Might go there, as Sertorius seems to be the one for the Blamey.

I reckon The United States will be the best of them.

I imagine ff he has not done a Michelangelo, The United States will be the fastest of the Lloyd Williams imports.

How many more runs is Lloyd Williams likely to let Foundry have this prep?

Would it change if he thought of him as a WFA horse, instead of a Melbourne Cup horse?

I'll have to rely on Mystic Fiddler, who assures me he can divine Lloyd's mind.

Foundry ran with his head a bit high.

Are we sure Galileo is the dad?  Maybe Montjeu slipped one in when Galileo wasn't looking. Evil Smile

Put one of those sheepskin nosebands on, like wot Lidari was wearing.

I would say the track was too firm for both Foundry, The United States and Sea Moon.

None looked 100% committed to the task.

Not sure TUS is anything ut it's just one run. The other two were fit but hadn't had the rough edges knocked off.

Simply mesmerised by Sea Moon and gee he's got an attitude, would say more but wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble.

Sea Moon looked awkward in his action but maybe that's just him? He also seemed a bit fat in the mounting yard I thought.

Sea Moon looked quite stilted after the race, painful to watch but that is just him every time.

Both he and Foundry had done enough work to be fit for the assignmnet, but l agree there was plenty left imho.

Sea Moon got bumped by both the horse inside and outside him at the top of the strait within 50m, he probably wasn't traveling well enough to win at that point but I think this put him off finishing off the race with any flourish...

Interesting my C Williams over S Arnold on team Williams horse theory. Both announced they would be ridden forward. Then no surprise to see Williams push forward and Arnold out the back.
