good trainer but as for being a good bloke ask brian ralph what he thinks of him and perhaps woolston up in queensland might have an opinion as well, and why has the secretary in melbourne been on stress leave for the last couple of years.

The point I'm trying to make is people who spend thousands a year to have a horse with him wont be able to 'share the thrill' with him. And lest we forget that that is what the sport is all about. ????

Id like to know at what stage did they realise this ? he hasnt been a race goer for freaking years, odds on they sought him to train there horse notthe other way around.
Its the way he operates, dont like it so sad move on.

Then the latest syndication promos 'race a horse with Hawkes' and 'share the thrill of ownership..' etc must be talking of someone else mc.
How can you get expect people to invest in what is a social event ,if they're not going to be socialising. Why would you racea horse with a non entity?
Sure he may bea nice guy and Snowden is his rep, but geez it would be lovely for those free to airch 9 broadcasts to actually show the....
1 Commonwealths leading trainer of winners.
2 The most succesful trainer wins & prizemoney-Australia.
3 The other half of the Beadman-? equation.
4 The trainer of several 'Champs of the turf'.
5 The leading trainer for the Inghams....
etc etc etc
Maybe your right. Who wants to see and hear someone like that on TV during the biggest days racing. Did I mention CH 9 was broadcasting. Ooops I did didnt I.
Oh well , I guess all those 'small' owners would be rapt that Hawkesy's watching them on tele from home- NOT from the track.

to be honest, i went to a stable open day at crown lodge not long back (as i have a share in a 2yr old filly) and he was there, with peter snowden, calling the shots, on a sunday morning when he didnt have to be and was genuinely interested in being there..i asked him a few questi0ns, and he answered them with enthusiasm. He does have the time of day for people. I guess some people are on the perception = reality ideology and if they dont see him, than he musnt give a toss. Well not right people!

Thats good Lucian. I hope you enjoyed you're open DAY.
Look, Im not saying he's not good to his horses owners. He's just not good to the owners of the sport.

I think he is great trainer and horseman and if he wants to stay at home and watch all his horses running in different states to see how they run thats fair enough but on the big race days golden slipper, derby e.t.c he should be there after all we are only talking a few days per year.

Hawkes Racing are 1/70 (1.4% winning strike rate + minus 94% Profit On Turnover) since August 15 in VIC. This includes 0/43 in Metro Melb. The market didn’t mind on Friday night, as Endlessly was backed from $4.2-3.2 in the last 15 minutes of betting, she led and finished 4th.

Spot on Monty.

McEvoys no big surprise given they had a low less than 8% strike rate in town last year from 160-odd starters.
As for the Hawkes, the longer Wayne has them in the Melbourne stable the slower they go.
And this from me earlier:
 15 Oct 2022 at 6:12pm
Anthony and Sam Freedman going ordinary with just 6% winners to runners and no city successes from their last 50.

Considering these stables mentioned have 80-100 in work and some of the trainers on this list have 30, speaks volumes!
