Very surprised that Djebel hasn't highlighted this 2yo. Great international breeding, debut over 1000m Flemington was very good and wins 1st at MV today over 1000m.

Looks likely to improve with distance and age and surprised to see it competitive over 1000m. Perhaps the pushing of him at this young age will backfire on his longevity and his ability to run a middle distance and maybe it would have been preferable to have a more patient training technique. Unfortunately we will never know.

Hopefully he can develop.

Over to Djebel and others to post pedigree and opinions.

Cheers Kavg

I posted this earlier in the blog: "First time i can remember a Japanese-bred 2yo foaled to SH time win a race in Oz".

Conceived in Japan to SH time with Tagaloa imported in utero.

His sire Lord Kanaloa won any number of Gp 1 races over 1200m, whilst his grand-dam was a 7 furlong Gp 3 winner in GB, so his early precociousness isn't entirely surprising.

Over to others.

Yes,
Lord kanaloa the sire of Almond Eye and Heart's Cry is the sire of Lys Gracieux and also the first and only Japanese horse to beat the amazing Deep impact.

If he was mine he'd be on the float/truck to the Gold Coast quick smart after his post-race recovery.

If they send their Vet up to QLD with the horse, it will be a competitive in any race.

A trainer, any trainer, finds himself with a precocious youngster that appears to haves the ability to win the Magic Millions 2yo, a race restricted to horses offered at the MM sales.  First prize well over a million dollars.

Your average owner rarely if ever gets the opportunity to have his or her horse in a $2m race, let alone have a live chance of winning it.

The youngster appears fit, fast, sound and ready to go.

So the trainer and owners get their heads together to map out the colt's future, and decide to put him away for a couple of months because he should be far better over 1600m when more mature.  So endeth the fairy tale.

The Moderator has apparently warned you about continually unsubstantiated accusations.  But here you go once again, implicitly slurring a conveniently unnamed vet.

As far as evidence is concerned, are you going to put up or shut up?

So are you saying Adam's a vet who has the skill to legitimately improve the colt's well-being and performance?

A simple yes or no will suffice.  Smile

Back on topic.... As djebel has said many times in the past any horse that shows speed in Oz is treated as a sprinter whereas he could well be a middle distance horse with a turn of foot.
Hopefully he will be given a chance. I'm not a fan of going to MM as it can wear youngsters out.
He also may get run off his feet early in such a race and that may be to his detriment.
I'd consider going to slipper first up and then champagne over the mile if they really wanted 2yo success and some longevity.

Would need to win another race at very east in order to qualify for a run in the Slipper.

It's impossible to knock back the MM with a qualified runner, provided he is fit and well ... the restricted nature means that he may not have much to beat anyway ...

I like that plan better Gee Gee. And perhaps a crack at one of the sires and/or champagne at Randwick. Would set him up nicely for a 3yo career.

Gay.

Thanks djebel but I thought as he's going to stud, it'd be best to have the 2 scenarios separate as it can get confusing with some of them Thumbs Up
