Kempsey: The remainder of the meeting has been postponed due to heavy smoke and a significant downgrade in air quality.

How can they possibly whilst these sort of chemicals are constantly bombarding our atmosphere? Angry

One of the ladies on a group I'm on in North East NSW, tested the soil for heavy metals.

It came back positive for Aluminium, Barium, and Lithium. That makes a good recipe for a fire to become an uncontrollable disaster, on top of the dry air and dead vegetation.

So this summer all areas should be warned, especially those areas that are being sprayed heavily, the fires this summer that are coming will be ruthless and unprecedented in nature.

So where are the heavy metals coming from? they can't grow anything , no water, dry vegetation makes the whole area a tinderbox, hot winds high humidity eucalyptus all a recipe for disaster heavy metals or not .

If we had system of water catchment facilities we could catch this rainfall, store it and then distribute it to areas who need it for free, I say for free.

But alas I am just a humble vessel, with no voice and no idea what I am talking about

I can only speak for the Ballarat area & we're still 100mls down on average, so we need all we can get without catching & sending off elsewhere.
I honestly can't remember our last 'average' year, could even be about 20yrs ago, just after we moved in here.

My friends were at Kempsey today with their horse.  They made a run for home, south of Taree. Cant get down the highway as its closed between south Taree and Buladelah, so they headed down Bucketts Way only to be turned back.  Cant get home to their animals and have a horse on a float, stuck at Taree with fire all around.
