Martin Harley has his first Aus rides today at Swan Hill
Melbourne's jockey ranks are soon to be bolstered with Irish rider Martin Harley set to call Victoria home. Harley, who rode on a short-term contract in Hong Kong last season, is due to arrive in Melbourne on August 28. The 30-year-old rider recorded four wins from limited opportunities in Hong Kong and is aiming for a fresh start in Australia. Harley has five Group 1 victories on his CV, including Royal Ascot success aboard Goldream in the King's Stand Stakes. He was crowned champion apprentice in Britain in 2011 and had spells as stable rider for Mick Channon and Marco Botti. |
