England are slaughtering us in the reviews. They've had 6 on field umpire errors corrected in their favour. Australia has corrected none of the many on field errors that went against them.

Indeed Carioca. 'Rags' was a cracker. Who could forget his 174 at the MCG in the Centenary Test ? On debut mind you, hooking and pulling DK Lillee.
He looked like he was made up from the left over bits and held together with rubber bands but he could certainly bat and had bucket loads of courage. Check him out at 2:30 wearing one, helmetless, from Dennis Lillee....
Like Smith he was inclined to step across his stumps as the bowler delivered the ball but Derek's stance was only lazy, it wasn't particularly unorthodox. |

That's true. That is why it is hard to bag the Australian bowlers. They didn't do much wrong but every dicey decision went against them. The responsibility for Australia's reluctance to review rests squarely with the skipper. I don't understand why. It's become a problem. Paine did a good job of filling the skipper's job in the wake of the cheating in South Africa but I would prefer the captaincy not to be in the hands of the keeper. It's keeping Carey out of the side for a start. Paine isn't keeping that well either. |

Fourth day poised to be a cracker. While not having the captaincy to burden him, Smith although he would probably be thinking that he would have done things differently has the opportunity to put himself on Page 1 in a huge way! At least OZ did not get bundled out for less than 100 in a pressure cooker Test.

Broad should be bounced at least twice in the first over every time he bats. What were they thinking?

Absolutely no chance BB, Langer started the build up to bringing his mate back in before his suspension had even expired, Langers biggest selection dilemma in his head is how he can shoe horn Mitch Marsh back into the side and how he can make an excuse to call his brother up ASAP.

Smith out 90 runs short of us being safe and setting a defendable target.

From facing oblivion at 122 for 8 to a 250 run victory ... stunning, even allowing that Anderson was a passenger for the match.
I hope someone had a bet!!! Saw S. Waugh on the balcony today ... that must have an influence on attitude, and that is what wins a lot of tight contests. Steve Smith obviously "saw the light", repented, and was granted redemption!

It's amazing Dr E. The rest have wandered away after it was pretty plain that Australia was in the box set. Maybe the other posters only want to snip and pull Australia down.
Good on the boys for giving the bowlers a sniff of victory. And congratulations to the man of the hour and his hard working team mates.

I think the Barmy Army are getting to Steve Smith. He seems to have trouble getting out of the 140s with all the songs and heckling.

I am eagerly awaiting for Steve Smith's documentary on how the English cricket fans , because of their booing of him, are all racists. That should then give him a good leg up to be 2020 Australian of the Year.

I am sure there will be an attempt to rebrand him, but most people can distinguish between scoring lots of runs and removing a stain from your character. 2 x 140+ innings is not redemption for failing to report cheating as captain.
Everybody remembers Hanse Cronje, Salmun Butt Herschell Gibbs, sSleem Malik for their cheating, not their records. Even Trevor Chappell even though he never cheated is really only remembered for one thing.

None of them had an abundance of talent
Smith doesn’t need to be “rebranded” |

Steve Smith will be no more remembered for his poor captaincy than Shane Warne is for his pill popping exploits.

I told the old man before the first test it'll be 3-1 to the Aussies, I underestimated them I suspect.

Be interesting to see how Joffra goes ? He has not played enough First Class cricket to say he will be a super success from the get go but in the long term he has the action and speed to be the best bowler in the world. |
