Will they be investigating Libs after this, or is it just a Labor witch hunt?

Only *LABOUR'S best people PT!
"Elbows" closest and most trusted too Unsurprisingly, just a bunch of criminal dumb fcuks, like Shanghai Sam!
I love this headline! Labor goes old school with Aldi bag of cashIt was not a sophisticated operation. Two weeks after NSW voters went to the polls in 2015, Huang Xiangmo walked into Labor's Sussex St headquarters with an Aldi shopping bag containing $100,000 in cash tied together with rubber bands. Keeping with the old school theme, he headed straight to the office of then general secretary Jamie Clements and handed it over. It was about "face", according to Kenrick Cheah, the Labor staffer charged with counting the cash, which was mainly delivered in $100 notes. As a property developer Huang was not allowed to hand over any money to political parties in NSW and so the ICAC alleges 20 "straw or pretend donors" were found to put their names on disclosure forms required by the Electoral Commission. They didn't go to much effort finding their straw men and women. The inquiry heard that 18 separate donations of $5000 were declared to have come from 10 people associated with Jonathan Yee, general manager of the Emperor's Garden restaurant in Sydney. His mother is said to have donated $10,000, his younger brother $5000, while the owner of the souvenir shop next to the restaurant is listed as having given $5000. Five employees of the Emperor's Garden each gave $10,000. This was too much for the Electoral Commission, which referred the matter to the ICAC "The implausibility that restaurant workers would have the financial capacity to make lump sum donations of $5000 or $10,000 ... led the Electoral Commission to suspect that the $100,000 in cash was donated on behalf of a person or persons other than those who appeared ... in disclosures,” counsel assisting Scott Robertson said in his opening statement. *And if this was curious enough, the run sheet from the "Chinese friends of Labor" dinner even managed to spell the party's name incorrectly. https://www.afr.com/politics/labor-goes-old-school-with-aldi-bag-of-cash-20190826-p52kww |

Seems to me to be a compelling case for a Federal ICAC. What do you think Bob?

Albo Dismisses Accusations Of Chinese Influence Over ALP Between Slurps Of Lychee Bubble TeaLeader of The Opposition Anthony Albanese [WHAT HAPPENED TO SETKA?] has been quick to shut down the growing suspicions that surrounds the Australian Labor Party’s legally grey relationship with both the Chinese government and prominent Chinese billionaires. This follows revelations that the Chinese developer behind the multi-billion-dollar Gold Coast Jewel and One Circular Quay projects, Huang Xiangmo, handed over $100,000 in cash to former NSW Labor party boss Jamie Clements during a private meeting at his office, a corruption inquiry has heard. Albanese, or Ni Halbo as he is known in the alleyways of Haymarket, has dismissed all claims that his party is basically a wishing well for Chinese dollars. “No way…” says Albo, between slurps from his Lychee Bubble Tea. “Not us. We aren’t in bed with the Chinese” Albo briefly choked up while trying to swallow a black pearl that had been caught in his windpipe, before continuing the press conference. “Well.. Except for Dasher [former Federal Senator Sam Dastyari] hahaha” “But that was a one-off. It’s not like Sam was a big deal within the party or anything’ The NSW anti-corruption watchdog – The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) conducted its first public hearing of a six-week-long inquiry into allegations concerning political donations yesterday. ICAC will investigate if the state Labor party bent donation rules and laundered up to $100,000 in suss donations during a secret 2015 Labor Party fundraiser in Sydney’s Chinatown. Then-Labor leaders Bill Shorten (federal) and Luke Foley (NSW) were there, along with federal shadow treasurer Chris Bowen. NSW Labor has “quarantined” the $100,000 until the investigation is complete – however Federal Labor is enacting the old Harriet Wran defence, by stating that yes, they were there, but they didn’t have anything to do with anything. What does Eddie Obeid have to say? Hey, KKQuota - Eddie's old mate - has an idea! The ALP needs to "move it's office" from Sussex Street, to "change the culture" ... She fair dinkum said that the racist moron ... nothing about refusing the cash of course!!! Hey, maybe they could just outsource the whole ALP operation to a call centre in Sha Tin ... cut out the middleman!!! Oh dear ... you couldn't possibly make this gelati up! ALL OF PT's BEST PEOPLE TOO!!! |

Dastyari, ICAC and the Chinese 'agent of influence'Former Labor senator Sam Dastyari has told a corruption inquiry that billionaire Huang Xiangmo may have been an “agent of influence” for the Chinese government. An Independent Commission Against Corruption inquiry has heard Mr Huang, who has been barred from Australia, allegedly dropped $100,000 cash to NSW Labor headquarters in 2015. In private evidence provided to the commission last week that was suppressed until Thursday, Mr Dastyari said he believed the powerful Chinese property developer and major political donor may have been working to influence Australian politics. “In hindsight, I now have serious questions about whether or not he was, either directly or indirectly, an agent of influence for the Chinese Government,” Mr Dastyari said.He was a very big donor, probably outside the trade union movement, the biggest donor.” Mr Dastyari, who was forced to resign from federal politics over his connection to Mr Huang in 2017, said NSW party boss Kaila Murnain revealed to him in 2016 that she had concerns about Mr Huang and the suspect donations. Ms Murnain, 32, revealed to the ICAC on Wednesday she had been told by then-MP Ernest Wong that Mr Huang had illegally donated to the party in 2015. Ms Murnain, who was suspended as general secretary by the Labor Party on Wednesday night for her involvement in the scandal, cried as she gave evidence on Thursday.Ms Murnain agreed that she should have told the NSW Electoral Commission everything about the suspect donation when they were investigating in late 2016. “I was scared for the office and the reputation of the party and doing my best to make sure that I followed that advice and I obviously recognise now that’s something I shouldn’t have done and I should have made different decisions,” Ms Murnain said. She said she confided in Mr Dastyari on the same day she was told of Mr Huang’s involvement. While the timing of the pair’s meeting was subject to scrutiny, Mr Dastyari agreed he met with Ms Murnain on the evening of September 16, 2016, where he told her to “cover your arse” and get immediate help from lawyers as he drove her around the city. “Kaila was gelatiting herself, right? She was very distressed, she was very upset, she was very, you know, she’s not in a great state …” he said.Mr Dastyari, who had previously held the position of NSW Labor general secretary, was adamant Ms Murnain said Mr Huang had been involved. “I recall that Ms Murnain specifically singled out Huang Xiangmo as someone she was concerned about,” Mr Dastyari said. “She was incredibly distressed.” But Ms Murnain said when she told lawyer Ian Robertson, he told her to stay quiet and forget what Mr Wong had told her. The inquiry centres around a March 2015 Chinese Friends of Labor fundraising dinner, where a dozen alleged straw donors were used to disguise Mr Huang’s illegal cash donation. Witness and one of the 12 alleged straw donors Steve Tong on Wednesday revealed to the inquiry he had never made a donation, and claimed his property development bosses at Wu International had filled out a donation sheet on his behalf. The inquiry has heard Mr Huang delivered the cash in a plastic Aldi shopping bag to Jamie Clements at Labor headquarters in April 2015. In his private evidence, Mr Dastyari said after Mr Clements succeeded him as general secretary in 2013, he had “effectively maintained” a donor relationship with Mr Huang. “I came to the conclusion a relationship was closer than I realised when after he left the party office he went to work for him,” he said. Ms Murnain told the inquiry that her relationship had broken down with Mr Dastyari during the federal election, when he and others pressured her to resign. Ms Murnain was suspended on Wednesday night after NSW Labor leader Jodi McKay said she had lost confidence in her judgment. On Thursday, Ms McKay described Ms Murnain as a “broken person,” adding the party was in a “terrible state”. "She has made a serious error of judgment and she is paying an enormous price for that but I know that I made the right decision,” she said.https://www.watoday.com.au/politics/nsw/dastyari-icac-and-the-chinese-agent-of-influence-20190829-p52m6e.html |

So we can assume that billionaire Huang Xiangmo IS NOT an “agent of influence” for the Chinese government.

You set the tone pt, with late posts of interest.
Heres one, brand new. ps lost for words on the article pt? Get used to doing more for less, unless you work in WA's public sectorThere’s no money around. You’re lucky to have a job. Don’t even ask the question, just be thankful you’re here. Sound familiar? The constant feedback I receive on the 6PR Perth LIVE talkback lines is just forget about a pay rise and try to do more with less. There hasn’t been a bump in at least five years and while the state economic outlook is optimistic driven by higher iron ore prices, workers aren’t expected to feel the benefits any time soon. When the McGowan Government came to power in 2017 it introduced a "strict" and "fair" public sector wages policy with a cap of $1000 a year pay rise for full-time employees. At the time the Industrial Relations Minister, Bill Johnston, said: "the new public sector wages policy reflects the reality of WA's economic circumstances, with real wages actually going backwards in the private sector." The latest snapshot from the June quarter continues to show that WA (0.3 per cent) lags behind the rest of the nation (0.5 per cent) in the Wage Price Index. So if you can’t get any more money is there something else employers can offer you? If you’re one of WA’s 38,000 public sector workers then not only have you just pocketed your additional $1000 a year pay rise, you’ll also gain an extra public holiday a year. It means the white collar government employees now have 13 public holidays a year. By comparison, private sector workers have 11. During pay negotiations the additional acknowledgment of Easter Sunday as a public holiday became a feature of the new agreement. Would an additional day or days off for you cushion the blow of no additional money? Most full-time workers already have four weeks' annual leave plus the 11 annual public holidays, so an additional day probably isn’t great compensation. This decision will also arm other unions with new ammunition when they sit at the table to thrash out their next wage negotiations. It’s irresponsible of the government to cave in and add another public holiday when it championed its tough stance around wages policy when it came to power. About 285,000 hours of work will be lost as a result of an additional public holiday in addition to the employees' pay rise. It sends a hypocritical message and is a kick in the guts to private sector workers who have been battling away holding on to their jobs without more money or the option of more days off. If you want another perk in the public sector then go and work for the Australian Government where Department of Treasury employees receive a $600 ‘lifestyle’ allowance which can be spent on classes, gym memberships and activities that make you “healthy” at a cost to the taxpayer of almost half a million dollars a year. Employment perks in the private sector are par for the course, but when taxpayers are subsidising extra days off or yoga classes for public servants you deserve to ask why, and question if this is the best use of citizen’s dollars.https://www.watoday.com.au/national/western-australia/get-used-to-doing-more-for-less-unless-you-work-in-wa-s-public-sector-20190829-p52m3a.html Advertisement |
