Is this on the site of the former Dallas Brooks Hall ? 300 Albert Street I believe. Grand Lodge of the Freemasons. They own the site. Also I believe 300 Albert was originally the site of Don Juan House, the residence of 'The Leviathan' bookmaker Joe Thompson who was arguably the biggest and boldest bookmaker this country has ever seen. He built Don Juan House after his horse Don Juan pulled off a famous sting to win the 1873 Melbourne Cup. |

Mirvac and Freemasons Victoria received approval for an East Melbourne development, to replace Dallas Brooks Hall with 275 luxury residences.
Designed by Bates Smart, the project is on the footstep of the Fitzroy Gardens at 300 Albert Street in East Melbourne. The 275 residences are next to the headquarters for Freemasons Victoria fronting Victoria Parade. Re the house that Joe Thompson built. It was ostentatious and had Don Juan's likeness carved in wood above the entrance, as well as having "the most magnificent bookcase ever made in Melbourne " installed in the library. |

He's just Bill Shorten with a smaller head, and more corrupt friends! I've certainly "warmed" to him. He is cannon fodder for ScoMo! Poll shows support for Labor leader Anthony Albanese is slipping awayHe was supposed to revive Labor’s fortunes after a devastating election defeat but a new poll shows voters haven’t warmed to Anthony Albanese. |

The funny thing about Joe Thompson's impressive bookshelves were that he filled them up with leather bound copies of Bow Bells weekly - which was like a British precursor to Reader's Digest.
But back to the discussion at hand.... neener, neener, neener, nah, nah, nah.

So good to see Sam Disasteryari overcome his shyness, and come out and comment on his area of expertise - treason and China.
Fabulous to see him "helping" Elbow ... and taking the pressure off KRudd, so he doesn't have to do all of the "helping" ... Where is KKCatastrophe btw? |

PT loathes her for her intelligence and beauty ... he prefers underage girls who have dropped out of school who suffer with anxiety and other mental issues ... which is a worry in itself.

AWU splits with Labor over nuclear power restrictions
AWU national secretary Daniel Walton on Friday will tell a parliamentary roundtable — chaired by former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce — that Australia’s approach to nuclear energy is “stuck in a time warp”. Mr Walton told The Australian on Thursday “partisan pigheadedness” on nuclear energy was holding back Australia’s ability to keep up with international competitors. “Thirty-one advanced economies — the likes of the US, UK, Switzerland, France, Sweden, South Korea, and Finland — all rely on nuclear power in their energy mix. Yet here we’re stuck in a time warp,” Mr Walton said. “Continuing to adopt a position of ideological extremism on nuclear technology is an economic own-goal we can’t afford to keep kicking … Australia’s energy sector is a shameful mess. In terms of global competitiveness Australia’s energy infrastructure has fallen off a cliff — from 29th in the world in 2009 to 55th today. “Most of our energy crisis is due to partisan pigheadedness — on both sides. So those of us on the progressive side of politics can’t continue to reflexively reject zero-emission compromise options. “We should drop the federal ban on nuclear power generation as well as the state-based bans on new uranium mines. If industry sees value in the Australian market it should be free to invest without being blocked by outdated fears. Our energy debate should be about pragmatics, not 20th-century ideology.” His new pro-nuclear move revives calls from his predecessor as AWU secretary, Paul Howes, in 2009 for a review into Australia’s stance on nuclear. Mr Howes’s push at the time was rejected by then prime minister Kevin Rudd. The Opposition has condemned Liberal MPs’ post-May election pushes for nuclear power, a position now at odds with the AWU — one of the nation’s largest unions once run by ex-Labor leader Bill Shorten. The ACTU also signed onto a letter earlier this week with 40 other organisations objecting to nuclear power. Mr Joyce, who has long advocated a shift towards nuclear power, initiated a review into nuclear power as chair of the House of Representatives’ innovation and industry committee. “If you want zero emissions and a renewable energy future, nuclear has to be part of the mix,” Mr Joyce said, while commending the AWU for its nuclear stance. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/politics/awu-splits-with-labor-over-nuclear-power-restrictions/news-story/819ee9317589d462fa8b7d3ae488f7b5?fbclid=IwAR3J5dTuJ91GeU0lC-ytPW_YQsiNNs1RKLviKY1tJP_23i67u6EVa5FVeZQ |

I think we can add this to the Sad Threads Whale ... for a decade or so anyway ...
‘People’s choice’ no more as Anthony Albanese’s polls plungeThere was a time when Anthony Albanese used to revel in the title of the “people’s choice” — when he won more rank-and-file Labor votes than Bill Shorten — but still failed to win the job as opposition leader and had to wait six years to get to the top. Now, as a Labor leader six months after a third consecutive ALP election loss, Albanese is facing further pain — he’s rating worse than Simon Crean did at the same time in his leadership. Crean, who took over from Kim Beazley to face John Howard after the 2001 election, also Labor’s third straight loss, had a higher voter satisfaction than Albanese does six months after the Labor loss and a change of leadership. In May 2002, Crean’s voter satisfaction was 41 per cent and his dissatisfaction was 31 per cent — a positive satisfaction rating of 10 percentage points. In the latest Newspoll survey, Albanese’s voter satisfaction was 38 per cent and his dissatisfaction rating was 45 per cent — a satisfaction rating of minus seven points. On the question of who would make the better prime minister, Albanese is better placed than Crean was but still behind Scott Morrison. In 2002, as the war against terror in Afghanistan was conducted and the Howard government benefited from tough border protection laws, Crean trailed the prime minister by a whopping 29 percentage points and had only 24 per cent support. Last weekend, Albanese had 35 per cent support and trailed Morrison by only seven points. The most damning figure from the comparison between Crean and Albanese six months into their leadership was that Labor’s primary vote under Crean was 40 per cent and it is just 33 per cent under Albanese’s leadership. During Crean’s leadership, Labor’s primary vote was only at 33 per cent once — straight after the 2001 election defeat — and after six months had actually risen from the election primary vote level of 37.8 per cent to 40 per cent. The primary vote under Crean between 2001 and December 2003 fluctuated but remained in the high 30s until he was removed before he could lead the ALP to an election. While it may be bad news for Albanese to be tracking personally worse than a leader who didn’t actually lead Labor to an election, it’s even worse that Labor’s primary vote is not as good as it was under Crean and is showing no sign of improving. |

I think most of us are just over it all after 20 years of crap and are simply happy for the peace and quiet that surrounds Morrison at the moment

Peace and quiet? Senior Minister forges official documents, Morrison doesn't care. Police open investigation into Senior Minister forging documents. Morrison doesn't care, ignores his own Ministerial conduct rules which clearly say that must stand the Minister down. Morrison says he will ring Police Commissioner and sort it out ie interfere with a police investigation. All pretty normal

When his traitorous mates find him too much of a burden they will get rid of him oneone. Ask Liberal hero Abbott how that works.
