Who said that? I remember Alan Jones telling the PM to shove a sock down the throat of Jacinda Adern which of course is quite different. |

I have never heard the Kyle and Jackie show, only seen clips of him offending sundry people on his show, on Media Watch etc. What does Jackie O do in the show? is she funny, smart, informative or entertaining? Just wondering, because they don't play any of her in the outrage clips.

I think everyone now realises that there are plenty of problems that RA needs to deal with, and Izzy is the least of them ... pandering to the noisy hateful sick minority can only ever end in tears.

I trust you realise the criticism by Ardern was in response to Jones saying that Julia Gillard's father had died of shame.

anyhow Raelene is saying although the result was "incredibly disappointing" she has put in place some very promising "platforms". Hopefully she will tell us which lucky station will be receiving them

She needs a new coach and Eddie is still in Tokyo after trouncing the Wobblies on the weekend. Eddie might want to wait till the Poms get knocked out by the All Blacks before negotiating. Raelene doing due diligence and on the spot for a signature.

No way we should take him on again. He had his chance over a 5 year period. Its during his tenure that i gave up on the game completely. All that crap about taking a scientific approach to the game. Borathon & still crap results. Not sure he is that inclusive either PT !

Oh dear - here we go - blaming poor old izzy for the piss poor RWC performance now. "Culturally" the right thing to do though apparently. This coming from Mrs Inclusiveness - who hadn't spoken to the coach for 12 months. It really cant get much worse for her can it ?

Because Kearns is a moron. Larkham just started a gig at Munster as an assistant, not head coach. |

Larkham was effectively sacked as a attacking coach as he and Cheika didn't see eye to eye re strategy.
Don't believe Larkham will lose any sleep over Cheika's resignation, and given the circumstances of his departure would almost certainly thumb his nose at any entreaties to him regarding a new role with Rugby Australia.

Right on cue. Shame on those who stoop to the World Cup blame gameOctober 23, 2019 — 4.14pm Peter FitzSimonsYou could set your watch by it, couldn’t you? The Wallabies are bundled out of the World Cup and the call goes up: Get rid of the lot of them! Sack the coach, sack the board, and use them as a warning to all who pass – win, or meet this fate. My friends, bring it in tight. Let’s talk on this. Damn right the Wallabies were disappointing. Damn right, Cheika had to go – particularly after he said he would fall on his sword if they didn’t win the World Cup. But to take that same sword to smite everyone else on the grounds, for starters, that they totally mismanaged Cheika? Listen, you have only got credibility in the field if you were saying Cheika was stinking up the joint, before this World Cup. Were you? And there were none of you that I can recall saying that publicly. As far as I can see the chief critics of Rugby Australia are being wise after the event, implying that it was obvious that he had to be sacked and they just didn’t do it. No, it wasn’t obvious Cheika had to be sacked. For starters, the idea of handing Cheika a big cheque to walk with no obvious reason to do so, when the finances are so strained, would have caused a major outcry on its own. Yes, Cheika’s results were underwhelming during his tenure at the Wallaby helm. But against that he had two things going for him. Whatever else, he was the coach of the best-performing rugby team we’ve seen in Australia since forever – the 2014 Super Rugby-winning Waratahs. And the following year he got the Wallabies to the World Cup final against the All Blacks, and against all odds. This year, admittedly against the run of play, he somehow managed to coach the Wallabies to put 47 points on the All Blacks in a thrilling victory in Perth – something never achieved before. In all likelihood Cheika will shortly be the coach of the side that put 47 points on a team that has been world champions on three successive occasions. I agree there were many things with the Cheika approach that were frustrating – starting with the all but perpetual narkiness, which inevitably flared up when he left the stage. But under the circumstances it was not unreasonable for Rugby Australia to let him take the Wallabies to the World Cup, rather than saying “the team bus is leaving in five minutes and you should be under it.” Another criticism levelled at Rugby Australia is its handling of the Folau case. Again, it is obvious in hindsight that it was madness to sign Folau again after the initial imbroglio. But that is only in hindsight. Who could possibly have believed that Folau would tweet much the same stuff again? The answer is, no-one in their right mind. And when Folau did do it again, of course they had no choice but to let him go. Keeping him on board after he broke his commitment not to so tweet, and after such severe consequences, was out of the question and the only people who say different are either religious zealots or have a political axe to grind – sometimes both. And so we are where we are in Australian rugby – at the bottom of a fairly dark pit, with only three strong points of light. Club rugby is going better, and both the Australian Schoolboys and the Australian under-20 side have just beaten their New Zealand counterparts. That, at least, is a good sign that there must be a lot of talent coming through. Where to from here? I would start with the obvious. Go to Eddie Jones. See if he has an escape clause in his English contract which would give him an out if the Wallabies come calling. If so, get him to come home. He is the most accomplished rugby coach in the world today, at least insofar as getting so-so teams to start playing so, so well. He is the bloke we need. Beyond everything else, despite being an intense bastard like they don’t make them anymore, he seems forever amused when the cameras are on him, and always happy – probably because he is usually on camera just after his team has thumped someone, or is just about to. But that happy tone at the top of Australian rugby is what we need right now, together with performance. Are you ready, Eddie? Australia needs you. Answer the call. Everyone else, pipe down! |

Thanks for that PT - Pete must be an avid TBV follower. Pretty obvious why he was late to the party for comment - all he could come up with was a load of tosh. The only thing i agree with him is the Cheika evaluation. Those that came out of the woodwork saying he was a hopeless coach when they hadn't said anything of the sort beforehand. Few on here guilty of that. As for the rest he really is clutching at straws. RA management has stumbled from crisis to crisis. I would suggest Rugby in this country is at its lowest ebb ever. Got a crap national team, their junior nurseries are drying up, have a major image problem, got next to no money & has very few new sponsors knocking on their door. Add to that the Folau issue that is set to go on for ages dragging the game down & something dramatic has to be done. Wiping the slate clean at the top would be the obvious starting point. For Pete to bang on about the recent schoolboys success - & us beating the All Blacks one off a few months back is a touch hollow. Oh - & no mention of the fact that the CEO & the head Coach had a dysfunctional relationship for at least 12 months leading into the RWC. I mean seriously Pete, get the red bandana up from around your eyes !
