$8 million is the season record over thereShocked- no wonder they travel. Is that Johnston's record or the record?

Johnston laments 'ridiculous' prize-money as protests hit Lingfield card

Yes ?  Where to ? One looks to be attached to the strap holding his mouth shut so he is foaming, and the other one clipped to a bridle ring ???  Very oddConfused

A lot use them over there. Yes, onto the girth as in a standing martingale but that goes from the noseband as most would know.
The above have rubber insets but imo, still bloody ruthless attached the the bit Angry

Exactly, hence my post, a bit harsh imo.

Geez that is harsh.  If they are on the bit to girth how ever does the horse stretch its neck out when it is ask to run ??  If Craig was on it in a tight finish one would think it wouldnt be please or willing to have its neck pushed right out .

Wouldn't be allowed for that gear to be used on Raceday, track work only, maybe pulls a bit , gets its head up in work or pissed off with his rider sometime and has learnt a trick or two, it's all in the hands.

Never actually realised the Rowley Mile is much flatter than the July course

The July course runs down hill b efore quite a steep rise the last furlong.

I used to think it took a stamina horse to finish off the July course but somebody smarter than me pointed out it was more downhill than up and the speedsters usually have the race won before stamina kicks in.

Magna Grecia (Invincible Spirit -Cabaret, by Galileo) scored a dominant win in the Two Thousand Guineas. He won the Gp1 Futurity Trophy Stakes as a two year old. Ten Sovereigns looked a chance two furlongs but was probably lacking in stamina, finishing unplaced.

That photo is deceptive...the Rowley mile is very undulating with a steep uphill finish after and downhill run into “the dip”.

Good win but the three horses on the stand side had a clear advantage over the rest...both first and second came from those three.

Yes, and I have a pic that shows it much better , with a person standing in each dip, which gives better perspective.  Its a tough run thats for sure.

Aidan O'Brien wins his 9th Chester Vase, this time with Sir Dragonet (Camelot x Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) who scored by half the length of the straight. Slight exaggeration, maybe!

The Dante Stakes on Thursday night (16th of May) at York will be the race of 2019. Epsom Derby trial. Too Darn Hot is the highest rated 2y0 since Frankel. From a family where two of his sister's and mother had been touted as Arc De Triomphe favourites. He is the best out of all of them. Going up against the best of Coolmore and Godolphin's 3y0's among others.
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Good couple of days for fillies named "Etoile". Yesterday, in Ireland, Etoile (USA) won the Listed Fillies' Sprint Stakes for 2yo fillies. Today, Etoile (Fr) won the Gp3 Prix Cléopâtre for 3yo fillies.
