I assume, after his good spring prep, that’s where he’s heading. Kicks off his campaign tomorrow in R6

Very very deep down I couldn't care if the decision is made to geld a young colt, regardless of breeding, if they feel that is the best decision.

Well if he’s bound for the SA Derby, he’ll want to be winning the BM64 over 2000m at Warracknabeal today - despite the 62kg impost.

I wonder if it’s his last warm up. Big weight and distance jump. Still 3 weeks to the derby

The SA Derby is not looking very deep again this year. The last couple of years have been dominated by horses rated in the high 60s to mid 70s. With several of the main chances on paper apparently not going including a doubt on the fav going(favoring Brisbane and 2200m rather than 2500m) it will likely look similar this year.

2 more chances to regain his form at Flemington next Saturday and Morphettville, both over 2000m for 3yos.

Yesterday was what I expected. With the 62kg and first distance run I thought he closed off well. I’d be interested in the final section as he looked strong to my eye

Really does need 2400m

There were no sectionals published but on time handicaps from a reliable source, the race rated very respectably.

The corporates that are betting on the race wound him out from 26 to 51 after yesterday, but I thought he did enough for another look next week if he goes around again. With some residual fitness from his spring Derby campaign, they may not go back him up. Will be interesting to see though.

Good points PT & Shrunk.

Well maybe I shouldn’t write him off until we see him at a staying trip. If Ciaron is still aiming at the SA Derby & thinks he needs another run, another alternative might be the BM78 at Warrnambool on 30th Apr (Tues weeks) over 2350m.

Maybe, just maybe, the horse isn't much good.  Or has issues.  Or both.

Be that as it may, djebel at least can't in this case accuse the trainers of starting off over 1200m etc in its two preps thus far.

Still raced him on the idiotic fortnightly pattern.

Well this prep exhibits fortnight gaps.

You reckon this spacing of his runs explains his lacklustre results this prep?
