Was thinking how big the Tasmanian side will be.
If they get their act together and get funding for an indoor high tech boutique stadium, to seat around 30,000, they will become one heck of a footy club. They will pretty much be everyones 2nd favourite team, and if they play their cards right, they would even give fans from other clubs, "Tassie, my 2nd team" merchandise. You would think upon joining the league, they would get around 50,000 members straight up, and that would quickly grow. Obviously they will need some favours with recruiting. The high tech indoor boutique stadium will be key. |

True supporters don't have second teams, they just go for anyone on the day playing the team they hate most.
I'd love to see a Tasmanian team in, all the Tassie talent would want to play for the locals instead of moving interstate, get rid of the Gold Coast Suns, total waste of space and bleeding the AFL since day one. |

A Tassie side would be a disaster player retention would be a nightmare half the twenty year olds in Tassie have already moved to the Gold Coast nice thought but not viable.

It's always hard watching a game when you want both teams to lose!
I was really hoping to see Collingwood lose another GF, but they will need to lift.

GWS fall over the line - that's a shame - Collingwood have a couple of goals denied by the DRS, and typically the team in the last quarter with momentum don't get a free kick inside 50 in the the last 20 minutes, in spite of the game being played there exclusively ... umpires are so predictable. Entertaining game, but really, the only good thing about that game was the look on Eddie's face after the siren. I would rather attend a Climate Strike than the GF now ... crowd predictions?

Yes they were ... just pointing out how close they were to getting across the line.
Shame we cant have the boys in the bunker review all of those free kicks that were not given inside 50 in the last 20 minutes too ... Anyway, it's great to see Collingwood lose at anytime! GWS winning next week would be tragic for AFL because nobody in Sydney gives a toss about them, not even the AFL supporters. They are a soulless group of mercenaries. Had to laugh at last weeks final at "Supporterless Stadium" against the Dogs ... they called it a crowd of 19,000 ... yet you could see full sections completely empty from every camera angle and most of the crowd had a spare seat either side of them. I reckon they just make up a number and then double it!

Here are some interesting stats that underline the terrible job that the AFL and GWS has done in marketing the game and their club in Western Sydney. GWS has made the Prelim final 3 of the past 4 seasons '16, '17, '19 and finished 6th in '18. Their home ground has a capacity of 24,000 approx - great place to watch AFL, fairly new, a real coloseum style so you are close to the action (was pupose built for the 2000 Olympics to cater for a number of sports), excellent transport facilities, loads of parking, even more free tickets if you want them! With a pool of potential members in their "zone" of over 2 million people (not including ACT and the Riverena, etc.), they "allegedly" have over 25,000(?) members and average home game attendance in that period is around 12,000 (? - I would strongly dispute that figure is real having watched some of the games on TV)
I guess their FIFO team of Lamborghinis is failing to capture the heart and soul of the people out west ... in spite of Toby Greene's best efforts to build an identifiable culture! It will be embarrassing if they win the flag ... most of Western Sydney may never even know ...

Greater Western Sydney star Jeremy Cameron has received plenty of praise on social media after a photo emerged of a note he wrote after finding a stranger's wallet.
The Giants have been lauded by their chief executive for a fantastic team culture in the wake of their shock win over Collingwood to advance to their first AFL grand final. Part of that culture appears to be on show after Cameron left a note and $50 in a stranger's wallet after finding it on the ground while on a team walk. "Hey brother, I found your wallet while having a kick with the boys this morning, before we beat the Pies," the note read. "Hope it gets back to you! PS I've put 50 bucks in it so you can purchase a GWS beanie and scarf. Cheers mate." On the Giants official shop website, GWS-branded beanies range between $10.99 (for infants) through to $39.99, while scarves cost between $24.99 to $64.99. The story was verified by the wallet's owner on Twitter. Cameron's teammate Matt de Boer also backed the story on Sunday. "One-hundred per cent true, I was with him at the time," Matt de Boer told Channel Seven. "We were on our team walk across the road from the hotel. He picks up the wallet off the ground and proceeded to go into good citizen mode. "Paying it forward a little bit there and it's paid off [with a grand final place]." While some were sceptical, most responses to the letter praised the GWS goal getter for paying it forward. |

There's a rumor going around Toby Greene has been guaranteed "lost wages plus plenty" should he be suspended for eternity following the GF - that after rendering Dustin Martin relatively sightless.
And then again I might have just made that up.

It has always perplexed me why retiring AFL players in grand finals don't go on seek and destroy missions. Are they afraid of criminal charges or civil suits?

Do not know how many watched Nat Fyfe give his acceptance speech last night, but I thought he came across as an impressive self-deprecating, articulate young man,who when his football career is over, will be a natural in the football media or even progress into the motivational speaking circuit.

Nat Fyfe is a down to earth talent who made a strong point and valid point, about his efforts to survive over a dozen operations and the work required.
As much as what we can criticise umpires, they know damn well the work Nat Fyfe puts in and his on field efforts. You dont fluke a Brownlow, thats for sure.
